Hi all, I got a very strange pop-up message (like what you get when you solve a puzzle) when I got onto Sudoku today telling me there was a problem with my privacy on this site and wanting me to sign in again. I don't remember the exact wording. I checked and was still signed in, so I ignored it. Has it happened to anyone else?

Helllo my friends.
Finally have internet back after 3 weeks staying at Wyangla Dam. Most of the time it was gale force wind and rain but the good days were really good. Have read a little bit and hope you are all feeling better.

Oh hi there Broni!! Been wondering where you'd got to this time. Is Wyangla Dam near Cowra NSW? That's all I could find on Google Maps.
saltie, yep it popped up again just now, so I took a photo of it, it says:

I did something hard, but long overdue, today. Don’s workmates put together a book with photos and each of them recorded their memories of him. Today I copied it to send to his family in America.
Hi Broni, hope you are well too.
Cyn, that does sound sus! If they got my password for here it wouldn’t do them any good. It’s a bweird one I use nowhere else. I got my umpteenth call from those scammers who tell you they’re from Telstra and their systems say you have a virus. I did my usual, I’m not with Telstra. Halfway through their, but Telstra is responsible for all the lines, so... I interrupted them with and you’re going to tell me I have a virus. They hung up on me! I was so proud...

Julie, I have told my family, left it in instructions to executor of estate, that family should get anything they want (probably not much) and then have a FREE estate sale. Advertise with handbills in elevators. Open up apartment. Let residents come pick things they can use. Daughter has agreed to that, since it reduces what she will have to deal with
AND I plan on being here till I die.
Heidi, We got 3 inches of 'flurries' here Friday, I woke to a winter wonderland. Our internet went out before noon, phones and TV also, just back on at noon today. My internet keeps flicking off and on, so if I am absent again, that will be why.
I am going to send this now, just cause I can, in case internet flicks off again.

Heidi, what is a bacteriophage treatment. From your comments, I assume it was 'unpleasant ' and maybe a bit of 'discomfort'. Don't you hate when doctors say things like that? Hope they have something newer and better to replace that now, after 53 years.
HI Bronie! Glad you have internet again, 3 weeks is a long time without. I had trouble handling 24 hours.Hope the good days were good enough to make up for the days of wind and rain.
Heidi, how much snow did you get? I have not figured out when you posted, Friday or Saturday?
Would you believe the impatiens that are under the cover of the 2 story tall space between buildings are still alive and well? It was below freezing for several hours, but evidently that is a little heat pocket there. the ones in the snow are gone. I was thinking perhaps the snow insulated them from the cold, but no such luck, they ones I can see from my window look like they have been cooked in boiling water!
OH DEAR, it is time for lunch, then I need to take a few things down stairs. One is a request for transportation to doc Wednesday, the other is cranberry sauce for a group that is making baskets for needy. Last year we collected over 100 cans, our goal is 150 this year, so I bought 5 when at grocery. I think resident's association bought a few cases last year.

Yes, I was wondering what that treatment involved, Heidi.
Suzy, glad you copied the book for Don's American family. They will treasure it.
Yes, about the phishing thingy, I'm not overly worried because this was the first site I ever signed into and it still has the original password from 2007 which is not one I use these days and even if anyone got my password here, the worst they could do would be to mess with my page. There's less personal info on here than there is on FB.

MizT, I have similar instructions for my 'stuff', when I go. I have left it up to my daughter, who I can trust, to allow herself, her brother and the 5 grandies to take whatever they would like (without arguing) and anything that is left over can either go into the bin, be donated to a charity shop or consigned for sale at a second hand/antique shop. I have some nice peices of furniture, ornaments, artwork and local historical items (previously owned by my Dad). None of them worth a fortune but could earn them all some nice spending money. Lord knows I've spent a lot over the years collecting it all. I'd hate to think it all just got thrown out.

Here is some information on phage treatment:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phage_therapy
When I went through it in 1964 or 5, it was in a fairly early stage of experimentation. My treatment was a series of 30 painful shots, one daily. Injections are no longer used due to chance of contamination, and to the immune system fighting off injected substances.

Heidi, Is it given IV now? I read some about it, the 60's is when the USA did some clinical trials, but it had been used in Eastern Europe from the 1920's.
Here is a simple explanation of the medical papers I read. the phage is a virus, that attacks bacteria, by first having it make copies of the virus, instead of taking in nutrients for it's own use, then causes each bacteria cell to 'lyse' or burst, breaks the cell walls.
I wonder why it was not used here for so long? I never heard of it when I was in nursing in the 80's. And I always hoped after bacteria became resistant to antibiotics, that medicine would find another way to treat bacterial infection. there is hope with the phages. Heidi, Is the treatment you might get now in clinical trials, or an established treatment?
Cyn, I am also testing to see if my avatar changed. I have several Christmas ones, if I want to use them all in the next 15 days (what, 2 more weeks?) I should change them more often.
Our snow has melted except in heavy shade areas, so a one day snow event, typical for Alabama.
Almost bedtime here, so Hugs to each of you, with extras.

I was part of those trials back then. I guess the reason that phage treatment hasn't been used much was that it is VERY species and strain specific. The exact bacteria has to be isolated, and the correct phage for it created for each case. Antibiotics are a lot more generalized.
I don't know that I will be going back on a bacteriophage. I was just guessing that we may have to resort to it since I don't respond to any antibiotics other than cipro, and I'm becoming resistant to that now.

Greetings, Everyone!
Hi, Broni! I'm glad you were able to post! The past 3 weeks sound as if they were a bit trying with lots of bad weather and no internet. I'm so glad it was interspersed with some good days and weather! Will you stay there a bit longer, or will you be moving on to another location? Here's hoping that you will have some lovely weather, wherever you will be, and you'll both be experiencing good health!
Suzy, how thoughtful of you to copy the book and recordings for Don's family. I'm sure it will be a treasured memento for them!
Suzy, well done dealing with the 'Telstra' scammers!
CynB, good for you for getting a photo of the pop-up message and not responding to it. If you ever need to make a police report, you have visual evidence.
I like your wintery avatar, CynB!
MizT and Heidi, thanks for filling us in on the phage treatment. Since it is so specific, is it expensive? I suspect it needs to be developed by special pharmacy/hospital. I hope if problems continue, you'll be able to get an appointment with the ENT quickly. Hoping for the best!
We also had snow overnight - probably about an inch. MizT, your 3 inches certainly beat us! I think I wouldn't mind snow so much if we never got more than 3 inches. D and her family in the Boston area were expecting 7 or so inches, then followed a day or so later by another storm.
Sending good wishes to DOrA, salty, and Broni, as well as others who we don't see regularly, like Nola, Tami, Midge and others. Also sending healing energy, {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, positively cheerful thoughts, prayers, and

I feel like a vampire desperately in need of blood. The chemo has deleted my blood supply so much I have no energy and can barely walk from one room to another. I am down for more blood transfusions this week. I will possibly end up some time in hospital as I will need more than the two units.

Did a major good deed today. I'm proud of myself. I was invited to the Lions Camp Crescendo Christmas meeting/party today. At the meeting, it was announced that the camp desperately needed 100 new mattresses, and the organization that had pledged to pay for them backed out. Another organization then promised to pay for 50 of them, but they had no idea where to get the money for the other 50. I have now given them the money for the other 50 mattresses. This place has summer camps for blind children, deaf children, children with AIDS, and children in foster care, at no cost to them or their families. If I can do something to make these children happy, it makes me even happier.

Hi, Everyone!
June, I sincerely hope the transfusions this week will make a big difference in you energy level! Do you have anything to help support you as you walk from room to room? Please be careful! I know you would prefer to stay out of the hospital, but if that is what it takes to get the transfusions you need, it's a bit of a trade-off. I will certainly be sending lots of positive thoughts, healing energy, and prayers your way! {{{HUGS}}}
DOrA, thank you for the information about Amazon Echo/Alexa! One SIL loves 'gadgets' and bought one a few years ago. D was not and is not happy about it, but it remains in their home. I sent the link to both of them. It's pretty scary - what it can do without your knowledge.
Heidi, you are my hero! You are always on the lookout for ways you can help others! I suspect whoever invited you to the Christmas meeting/party wasn't expecting that you would be the source for money for the additional mattresses. Thank you for sharing your love for the good in humanity! I hope many blessings will come your way!
Thinking of each of you and sending healing energy, positive thoughts, {{{{{HUGS}}}}},

June, I think of you often and wonder how you are, hoping that the blood transfusions will return your energy.
Heidi, I was reading your post and expecting something like you’d paid for 5 or 10 so they needed fewer. Mattresses must be cheaper there, at least I hope they are. Ours was relatively cheap, compared to the options available, and it was nearly $2000. There is one place that I think is cheaper. You are incredibly generous.
I haven’t seen my neighbour in a few days. Lots on with the kids. I’ll go up tomorrow and hope his wife isn’t there. A mutual friend dropped by yesterday and complained that when she is there you only get to talk to her, about her. I felt better because I thought I was just being b1tchy feeling that way when I visited.

So, one of my neighbour’s doctors, not the respiratory one, decided to take him off the high flow oxygen, a decision that could have, and may have been intended to, ended his life. Instead, he didn’t die, and is finding it hard to breathe enough to be comfortable. I’m so angry, and not really in a position to say anything about it as I’m only the neighbour. Instead I smiled and talked about trivial, unimportant stuff. Ken has a weird skill. He can tell you who won the Melbourne cup in any year you choose. He said today that I wouldn’t know if he was lying, he told me the winners in 1954 and 1963. I said, I know you’re right and said I’d prove it, and googled the winners. He was right, of course. I also showed him the pic of Santa in a speedo a sudoku friend posted on the other site. Trivial, unimportant stuff, but I got him to smile. Who knows if it will be the last time I see him?

Back from the Cattlemen's Christmas dinner. The Adulterous B@stard and his $lut were there, but kept far away from me. I did have a giggle, though. I heard through the grapevine that she recently had a facelift, but it was obvious today that it didn't take. She looked like she was in her mid-80's.

Oh Heidi, it’s almost like the surgeon knew them and got your revenge for you.
I agree about the election results. It was like the impact felt by people in the movie industry was irrelevant to politics, until today. No matter what you believe politically, it’s hard to justify electing someone who went after young girls. I saw video of women saying it wasn’t true, a smear campaign or something. It’s time we believed women, particularly when it’s more than one saying the same thing. I didn’t want to believe the Rolf Harris accusations, I’m ashamed to say it took the extra women coming forward to convince me. I can never listen to two little boys again! And I loved that song...
