Suzy, hoping there is public transportation towards Sydney! Great suggestion, CynB!
June would be the first to remind you to take care of yourself and do whatever is right for you. She also would understand if you can't be there. She was never one to expect the impossible.

I thought about public transport, but with my messed up head, being trapped with a bunch of people might just be torture. I’ll thunk on it some more. Knowing my luck, it’ll be on the same day as my neighbour’s.

Julie is right, Suzy! June would be up there saying don't do it if you don't feel up to it. When you go to your neighbours funeral you can think of June then.

Cyn, thank you for letting me know. I am glad I went to visit her last year. She will be sadly missed by so many but never forgotten.
Zusy, was thinking I could pick you up but when I checked the map it would be a four hour drive for me each way. I agree with Cyn.
Hope everyone is well.

Kate Paterson and her daughter Leia will be attending the funeral. This is what she wrote on TOS 'Sudoku Friends'
Kate Paterson Leia and I will be going to pay our respects and we know we carry all yours along with us. If anyone from the sudoku family wants to write a message for the condolence book, please email me a word or pdf document that I can print out (in colour) and slip the paper(s) between the pages of the book. On or before midday Thursday preferably (Sydney is GMT/UTC+11). PM me for my email address.

Suzy, I know June and her family would completely understand if you are unable to get to Sydney for the funeral. If you really feel you must go, it would be reassuring to have someone who could go with you. I can't imagine how difficult it might be trying to make connections on public transportation without a traveling companion. I won't even take the train from where we live into Chicago - and that's only about a 50-minute or so train ride.
Broni, thanks for letting us know that Kate Paterson & her daughter will be going - and are willing to print out any messages we would like to have included in the condolences book!
Heidi, it sounds like the flu had really hit you. Do you have someone who could take you to the hospital to be checked out and hopefully get something that will help you feel better?
Suzy, thanks so much for making sure to include messages here from TOS. My heart goes out to Ken and Belinda and Laura, especially, because I feel like we 'know' them. Condolences to June & Ken's son and family also.

Hi Viv, They're asking on FB Sudoku friends for us to post any pics we have of meetings with June. I seem to remember a nice pic of that day when they came to Port Macquarie.
For those on here who are not on FB, the 'Kate' who is collecting condolences is not the Kate from Sydney who posts the photos, she is the Kate from Kurang-gai with the daughter kiddo and the (now gone) dog Shultz. I'm sure you can contact her via PM on her page.

Risqué, maybe a little Risky, but I’ll take a chance…
Morris, an 82 year-old man, went to the doctor to get a physical.
A few days later, the doctor saw Morris walking down the street with a gorgeous young woman on his arm.
A couple of days later, the doctor spoke to Morris and said, 'You're really doing great, aren't you?'
Morris replied, 'Just doing what you said, Doc: 'Get a hot mamma and be cheerful.''
The doctor said, 'I didn't say that.. I said, 'You've got a heart murmur; be careful.'

just checking in and a quick glance at this page. Hope Heidi has medical help, if she is too sick to drive, she is indeed sick, cause she is a tough bird and does not let much get her down.
Cannot stay and comment on the posts, I did too much the last 2 days. Yesterday was my families Christmas Party, and it was a long day starting with cooking the a;ready prepared sweet potato casserole, having to do a full set to hair after shower, with curling iron, cause the new cut was not yet sure where hair was to go
. an hour ride in foggy rain, and for me, almost as bad as driving myself, so tense. Then today I had 2 things to do, one a need, one a want. Grocery with out bus for the things I need to take to 2 more lucheons scheduled, and one to the Dirty Santa party this afternoon. Must tell you about it later, was so fun, but now I am paying for it. Would have been wise to have skipped that also, as I have most of our activities lately, but dag burn it, I should get to do some thing I want to do!!
Tuesday (tomorrow) is a do nothing day. I should wrap gifts that just arrived, but will have to de clutter so housekeeper can get to things to clean at 8 am Wednesday, then at 10, out the door for bus to breathing teest. Thursday is our Lunchen hosted by staff, another of the things I really want to attend. THEN perhaps I can recover for Christmas Day, and take my time preparing the dressing and chicken I am taking to pot luck luncheon on Christmmas. I can cook cornbread one day, chop and sautee onions and celery another day, and bake it just before the luncheon. I did take the easy way out on my contribution to C day lunch, bought desert we are asked to bring to share. I have always baked something, just not up to it this year.
I do have a kitchen stool on order, high enough I can sit to do tasks, that should make the chopping better. might make it here in time, I have received the 'arriving on . . .' e mail. Back is now rebelling at about 10 minuets of standing, bummer. I never did put up my tree, first time for everything I suppose.
Hugs to each of you, with extras for those who need or want. Till next time.

Hi, Viv! It's nice to 'see' you here!
Cyn, thanks for keeping us all up-to-date. Kate also said if we wanted to send condolences, we could send them to her, and she would print them out and be sure they were put in the condolences book. You probably already mentioned that and I missed it.
I hope Heidi is either feeling better or got to a doctor or ER! Take care, Heidi!
DOrA, funny story about Morris. As we're aging, hubby and I have found we have some misunderstanding due to less-than-perfect hearing. So far, nothing as extreme as Morris!
MizT, you are certainly keeping busy! There's always so much to do at this time of year! I'm glad you're trying to pace yourself. I already know there's a lot I won't get done, but that happens every year.

Loved the snow painter, DORA, thanks for sharing. We are in the low 60's for overnight low, storms predicted for last night, but if we had them they did not wake me. Pain in hip did that, I am up for intermission, till meds work again, hoping to get back for another couple hours nap. So the snow painting is as close to snow I shall get for a few days, although it is mentioned again in the 10 day forecast.
Julie, I did not see your post until AFTER I had to hunt for the space myself, thanks for posting it though. First time looking, I missed it, pasted it in and got the page not found, but one more look, and there it was plain as day
.
Anyone else think of things you want to share here with June?
Yesterday was my No Day, a time to rest. I only picked the remains of Sunday's turkey for edible bits, boiled the bones and skin for a nice rich broth, and cleaned the greasy dishes with water not quite hot enough to do a good job. A bit of ammonia to the dish water and squeaky clean. Broth and bits to freezer till time to make dressing (stuffing made in a baking pan) with turkey for Christmas Day, but OH, no room. I had to rearrange contents and toss some things past their use by date, but that needed doing anyway. Picked up a large package downstairs that was a bit awkward getting up here, using the foot rest of chair as a fork lift (VBG). Tried to turn around in elevator, lost my load, had a bit of a laugh at me trying to keep elevator door opened while I maneuvered chair and box around. I could just see elevator closing with box and me on opposite sides of door, but I made it. Contents of box? an advertised as 'easy to assemble stool', that is not, for sitting at counter height in Kitchen to do chopping cleaning and cooking chores. Now a big brown box with a few smaller brown boxes in corner of living room, awaiting my attention. Multiple gifts in smaller boxes. If I do not get busy, they will not be wrapped by time, as yet unknown, when youngest daughter comes for gift exchange. Might start a new tradition, blindfold her and her partner, one at a time, to reach into box and pull out an unwrapped gift, then guess which is his and which is hers hehehe.
I am so thankful leaning lady coming at 8 am today instead of her usual 10, and I leave for bus to doctor at 10, just as she is walking out the door. Well, thankful she is coming to do 2 weeks of laundry, not the 8 am part.
this will be interesting, I think I shall shower before I try to go back to sleep this morning.
Missed an open house party yesterday morning, just could not get going, as I had not slept much. Sleepy meds that did not work well left me hung over, think they waited till time to get up to make me sleepy, drats. I need to come home from breathing test today and chill, as Thursday is our luncheon here, and I also have multiple packages scheduled for delivery. Need to try to wrap a few gifts, I was VERY late getting my shopping done this year. Friday

Hello all, 4am here, I'm up. Have been for 2 hours. Couldn't sleep, trying to get Christmas organised in my head. Why do I do this? Put it all on a spreadsheet and now I feel better. Might just do some puzzles then go to bed at dawn - longest day of the year today. Or shortest if you're north of us.
Hugs to all.

I needed a distraction this morning soI went to town today to get some last minute things. At the mall I saw drivers impatient and angry. I couldn’t get what I needed there so went up town. I parked across the road from the shops to avoid the nut cases. I was walking back to my car and saw 2 very mangled cars in the middle of the road. Said nutcases were driving around them, while an apparently pregnant woman tried to get her child out of the back of one of the mangled cars. Ambulance rescue arrived and blocked the road with their truck. The exit from my parking lot wasn’t completely blocked so nutcases were speeding their way out of it, but at least nobody could drive around the damaged cars. A fire truck and two ambulances arrived, they had trouble getting there due to said nutcases. I left when the police arrived and the nutcases were being directed safely away. I did not want to join the list of damaged cars, and I didn’t see the accident happen so couldn’t help.

Hello, Sudoku Friends!
I spent much of the day thinking of June and her family. At least she no longer needs to deal with the pain and exhaustion she had been experiencing. Rest in Peace, dear June!
Suzy, seems like you have had a horrible day. The closer we get to Christmas, the nuttier the nut cases become. You were wise to escape from the craziness when you could! I hope the rest of the day was/is essentially uneventful!

MizT, since the stool will not be assembled on time, can you at least sit at your table while you chop lots of onions and celery for the dressing? I know you will still need to stand while you saute them for the dressing. I'm really glad you weren't planning to do all of the preparations in one day!
CynB, I hope Col is enjoying some time off! At least you and he will have a few days for any last-minute preparations!
Well, the clock is ticking down. Only a couple more days for the DUGs and several more hours for us in the northern hemisphere. Will I be ready? It's doubtful!
Thinking of Heidi and hoping she is enjoying some well-earned rest! Maybe even a new medication to help the healing process? Take care, Heidi!

I went to make myself a sandwich and discovered my bread was mouldy, still fresh, but mouldy. Blasted humidity does it every time. I decided there was no way I was going back to that madhouse in town, so I’d go to the petrol station a couple of km away. I was waiting to turn into the side street that leads to the station, when a car coming towards me decided it would be a good idea to overtake. Luckily they saw me while they still had time to go back! I’m staying home now....

Hi, Everybody!
Suzy, how frustrating that your bread, though fresh, had already turned moldy! Sometimes during our summer when it is especially humid, I put the bread in the freezer. I don't particularly like frozen bread that has been thawed, but it beats having moldy bread. Did you have any crackers/saltines that you could use for a sandwich? Thank goodness the other driver didn't hit you, but it doesn't make you feel much better after such a scare. I hope drivers will be more careful and concentrate better after the holidays!
So sorry you lost a post, MizT! Unfortunately, it has happened to many of us. I used to hate when my computer decided to change or 'correct' some of my spellings, but maybe it's not all bad, if it saves losing a post. Hopefully, tomorrow will be better!
Still no word from Heidi. I hope her friend Debbie is checking in on her. Feel better soon, Heidi!

I had to go again today, chicken food and dog food mostly. I left as early as I could, but by the time I got to town it was already packed. Should have left the chook food til last! Our population doubles during summer holidays. Lots of beautiful beaches down here. Great for the town, not so much for the residents.
Still no word from Heidi....
MizT, sorry you lost your post! Hope we see you again soon.
Julie, no crackers of any kind, but the petrol station sells bread, milk, and candy so I was set!
We have most of a Xmas tree. Our trusty neighbour ground the lock off the pantec for us and helped us get the boxes and boxes of Xmas stuff out. Alie set up the tree last night and I have started decorating it. There have been a few tears, I don’t really feel like doing Xmas this year. Uncle bob called to check if it was still okay for him to come for Xmas. I guess he thought it was vaguely inappropriate. Although the idea makes me nervous, I know that’s just fear of him 30 years ago, not what he is now.

Julie, I was not close enough to the correct spelling for my old outdated spell check to help me. If I had thought, should have tried the word on my cell phone, I can type in a word so far from correct maybe 1 letter in the correct place and it gets it hehe. But that is more from my dyslexic typing, . I could have saved my post first, or opened the new page in a new window, but did not. Oh well.
does anyone have Heidi's phone number? I tried the one in my home phone, ending in 0654 and that cell phone is no longer in service. Same number is in my cell phone also. I think it is time to phone her, she has been missing and sick too long.
My chore last night I left here for was to make cornbread for the dressing I will take to pot luck luncheon. You might have seen my saga on TOS, but short version here, my oven quit while I was cooking cornbread. It was not well done when I found out, but left in the cooling oven until it finished cooking, just pale. On my second check of breakers, I found one tripped, restored it, and now I have oven again. Cross fingers it will work Christmas Day, when I must bake the dressing (stuffing in a pan).
I am wrapping gifts now, wrap one and sit, wrap another. Gee, getting old is for the birds.
Also from my lost post, I passed my pulmonary function test. The young lady doing it said there would be no surprises on the report going to doc, that I have a good set of lungs. wonder what tests will be next?
It is fall weather, not winter. currently 65 degrees and rain, and headed upward. But cold back for Christmas Day, glad I will not have to leave the building.
ATM, I cannot sit at table to chop veg for the dressing, it is covered with my wrapping supplies. I can sit often in my kitchen chair to rest, and sauteing the veg will go into microwave, so will not have to stand for that.
Hugs to each of you, time to get back to work.

Christmas Eve here in Australia already. It's going to be hot and humid here, but we'll just move the big outdoor 10 seater table into the house, turn on the aircon and enjoy the day in the cool. Persents are wrapped and under the tree, some last minute food shopping and preparation to do and I will be ready for the onslaught of joy and fun with the family.
Merry Christmas one and all !
I will be thinking of June, but knowing that she would want us all to have a nice Christmas.
I will also be thinking of you, Suzy, as you face another first in your changed life. I guess the same could be said for you - I'm sure your lovely hubby would want you, the girls and those lovely kids to have a fun Christmas, maybe remembering and smiling about the good times.
Love and hugs to you all.
