Oh MizT, I hope you can sort things out about your pain medication. That is just not right that you are left to suffer because some bureaucrat who does not even know you has 'decided' that you take too much pain medication. How dare they!

Follow your heart, but take your brain with you.
(A thought I'd like to instill into my teenage granddaughters. They are rubbish at choosing boyfriends, except for Emily who has a very special young man who adores her.)

Hi, Everyone!
Heidi, you're right about the state of health care and caring for the people. I hope 45 doesn't ruin everything that was good about the U.S. Now, let's talk about your ear. Please follow through on getting an ENT appointment and caring for your health.
CynB, I also hope to hear if the police came and were able to help the lady.
What a great 'almost TOPP,' Cyn! It's always a good idea to engage the brain while following the heart.

MizT, that is ridiculous. Completely ridiculous. And your doctor should advocate for you. I googled my meds and one is prescribed off, bloody h3ll I’ve forgotten the word, not what it’s approved for. The article blamed GPs for it, but mine was prescribed by a psychiatrist. And damn it, without it I don’t sleep, even though it’s not a sleeping pill.

Suzy, you're right! MizT is facing a completely ridiculous situation. I'm hoping one of her doctors will advocate for her. It seems like we're about to face some horrible truths about health care in the U.S.
Suzy, because your psychiatrist prescribed the medication, I hope there is some way that yo can continue to get it, especially since it's working for you!
DOrA, I like the comment that you shared from Bob Hope. There are certainly some days like that!

Cyn, Alie seems to have found another one who cares about her. The difference is, this one is more supportive. E.g. when I hit the tree he was ready to jump in his car to come here, from 3 hours away. There have been a few things like that. Bren was hopeless at things like that. I get the feeling Alie might move north soon. I have to find a way to look self sufficient so she’ll feel free to follow her life.

Suzy, how awful that you lost a post! But, the post that appeared indicates some good news for Alie. How nice that she has found someone who is supportive and caring! Are you thinking of ways to appear self sufficient to convince her? It seems that our adult children worry more about us as they get older. They are reassured if we text them when we get home after being on the road for a few hours. They also appreciate a quick text if we know we'll be away from home and may not get a call from them due to poor cell reception. We don't call them a lot, as we want them to feel we're confident in their parenting and dealing with life skills, so texts are more frequent, and the occasional (once or twice a week) FaceTime..
DOrA, how awful that you're getting way too much unsolicited online advertising and spam emails. Like Suzy, I have a couple of emails to keep Facebook, our woodturning club, and personal emails separate. Unfortunately, a few times when I have hit 'Unsubscribe' on an unwanted email, I have ended up a a couple of other emails lists.
I hope everyone is having or has had a wonderful weekend! Tomorrow is Sunday here, so we're only halfway through the weekend. And I have about 175 T-shirts to fold for a seminar in a week or so.

Suzy - you can't fool your children - they know you too well. Alie will make her own decision when the time is right. Good on you for wishing this for her - it shows you ARE becoming self-sufficent.
MizT - it is appalling what you are going through - don't you wish they could 'walk a mile in yiour shoes'. Your Drs should be able to sort this out for you - after all they precribed your meds.
Hope the earache and muscle injury are on the improve Heidi.
Good words Julie - I now have my no. 1 son (psychologist but not practising) ringing me and telling me what I should be doing about the 'venous insufficiency' problem. Your children also take over the parenting as we get older.
Cracked it on the weekend and moved a lot of junk from one of my d's rooms into the kitchen, if she doesn't sort out what she wants to keep, all will go out. She still has most of her topys from when she was little. Time to pass them on.
DorA - do you get scammers on the phone too? I have so many blocked calls from them but they still find a way to annoy me.

HI, Everyone!
Suzy, hubby helped and folded about 15 or so shirts, after I showed him how I fold them. With piles of shirts, they'll transport more easily and take up less space if they're somewhat 'uniform' in size. I folded 105 or so today, so we/I only have 50-55 or so left. It will get done!
Midge, you got a lot accomplished! We still have most of our children's toys, some even have their boxes. When they visit with THEIR children, there is usually a trip to the basement. It's as if they're shopping in a toy store. I'm not sure if they - or their children - enjoy it more. The toys and games certainly get a work-out when the family is here. The 3 oldest grandies especially enjoy Lego sets, and are quite amazed at the differences in instructions between now and about 30 years ago.
Midge, I hope there will be improvement in the 'venous insufficiency problem.' Hubby is having issues & has been to primary care physician several times. The doc seems to be relying on Gabapentin and working to adjust dosage for optimal benefit. Hubby was sent for a neuropathy test and now being referred to a neuropathy practice where 15 or so doctors have a variety of specialties. We're wondering how to find & make an appointment with the right one.
MizT, I hope you are not giving up and can find a way to do whatever is necessary to get medications and appropriate care approved!
Heidi, has your ear improved? If not, is it time to make an appointment with your ENT? I also hope the muscle pull is improving!
DOrA and Midge, I have heard there is a phone app that helps to block scamming calls. Unfortunately, I don't know the name of it. Perhaps a google search will provide an answer.
CynB, I've been thinking of you and Col and hope all is going well for both of you!
It looks like it's time for me to think about getting some sleep. Feel free to enjoy and share these {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, healing energy, positive thoughts, prayers, and

Julie - I'm not so good - d has 2 rooms - one is full and the other not so full now. She moved out of home 6 years ago, with one go at the revolving door and then out again. No. 2 son is the same but he still lives at home and has 3 rooms full of junk. He is next in the firing line. I took a step back when I saw your hubby is on Gabapentin - the vet has my old Truman on the same! I had to google it and it is commonly used on animalks as well. (thank goodness)

Good morning all!
Suzy, I was thinking the same thing. Midge must have lots of rooms. My daughter is a hoarder. When she married and left us at 24, I made her take everything! She moved it to their place and put it all into a spare room downstairs. It is all still there 21 years later - every doll she ever owned, plus dolls clothes, every game and toy, every collection (erasers etc), every item of clothing that she ever loved. Her brother by comparison throws most things away. But he does have a small cabinet with his treasures in.

I was thinking the same about Midge's rooms. The thing is - a child can take over more than a bedroom. For instance, it could be every available space in a den, family room, dining room, or office, for example. When we were moving our Dad from the family home (of nearly 50 years) to a senior living complex, all 5 of my siblings and I had a certain number of our things still in the family home. But since it was just a 3-bedroom home, none of us had a roomful. Just some items that were meaningful in some way.
Midge, I can imagine your surprise about Gabapentin. We called a neurology practice (17 doctors, I think) today. The earliest available appointment was the end of Sept.and NOT at the nearest office.
CynB, do you think it's just that there is a difference between girls and boys? I think my sister and I all tend to keep more things (probably at least partially for sentimental reasons) than our brothers do.
Heidi, I hope your ear will get better with each passing day!
Heidi, that's a good suggestion for MizT. I hope it will produce desired results!

Oh yes, Julie, definitely a difference between boys and girls - but men have been known to be hoarders. I think they hoard different things and they have their sheds, cellars and man-caves to do it in.

My husband bought himself a boy-toy yesterday. Just before he had his accident he finally received some of his inheritance which has been held up for years (long story). Apart from paying off our mortgage we have done the kitchen and bathrooms and replaced some furniture. There was still some left and he deserved to buy something he has always wanted. He wanted a classic car. As a Ford man he had been looking at old Mustangs and T'birds, but eventually settled on a 1959 Triumph Herald. Red, of course, because we all know that red goes faster. The top even comes off to make it a convertible. Wow!
He picked it up yesterday and is a happy boy now.
I had a smile when I looked outside and realised he has taken his little Ford Focus to work this morning and left the 'good car' garaged.

House is 5br + study + games,lounge/dining + kitchen family. We tripled the size of our orignal house when we extended 20 years ago. 4 levels-3 down, 1 up, metre high walls on the 3 down so you can look through to the back yard. Because we are in the glass business, lots of glass windows, walls and ceiling. Love it but unfortunately too big for me to look after now so downsize it is.
Lucky Col - I can imagine the grin he must be wearing - what a great car. How good you were able to use and enjoy some of his inheritance. No mortgage is such a bonus.
Heidi - hope your ear problem is settling down - it must be very painful.
Julie - such a long time to be on strong painkillers. Hooe there is a cancellation in the meantime so hubby can get to see someone earlier.
MizT - Heidi's suggestion was a good one - do you have an ombudsman?

Cyn, what wonderful news for Col and his 'boy toy!' Had he been looking for a long time - or just started looking recently and got lucky? It is obviously very special, since it was left safely in the garage, rather than driving it to work! Are there 'cruise nights' and car shows in Australia? Hubby has been to many in our area and enjoys talking with the people there. A few nights ago he was talking to a man who talked about his father who had a business fixing cars (on the side, I think, not his primary job) fixing cars back in the 'gangster' era. One of the persons for whom he did some work was one of the known gangsters of the time. He came home and looked up the name he had been told and confirmed that he was, indeed, a gangster. I hope Col gets lots of enjoyment from the car!
Midge, your house sounds amazing, but I can understand the need to downsize. That had been our intention when we bought our house, but then it seemed that we were going to need to move in my MIL and needed to find a house with a 1st floor bedroom & bathroom. Her health worsened before we could move her, so she went to an assisted living facility instead.
Heidi, what a relief to hear that your ear is better. I hope the same holds true for the strained muscle!
Suzy, I like your idea that a big house means affording a housekeeper! (Although, I've had friends who have a housekeeper and clean before she arrives.
It's time for bed, as we have an early morning (every day for the rest of the week). It will be a busy time, so I might not get here very often. Please feel free to use and share as much as you like from the abundance of good wishes. Sending healing energy, positive thoughts,

Julie, they don't call them 'cruise nights' but there's plenty of activities for the car enthusiast here. There are car clubs and meets. He's going to have to look into that but just driving it home on Tuesday he had people calling and beeping at him because of the car.
My son has a Ford Performance vehicle and belongs to a club, they meet most weekends and go to shows, rallies or just long drives. It's fun for the family. His girls love it even though they are teenagers, they are always happy to go to the FPV club meets.

My dear old aunt's funeral today. It will be a sad end to an era. But I can't help comparing it to Amelia's loss of her daughter. The most devastating thing I can imagine is to lose a child or grandchild and I can't get her out of my mind.
By contrast, my aunt was 99, had dementia for many years and would, I'm sure, have been happy to let go. Her husband and contemporaries have all gone. Even her eldest child passed away a few years ago. I will feel for my cousins today. It will be sad for them to say goodbye to their Mum. Always is. This month it will be 8 years since Col's Mum passed and 7 years since mine did.

Checking in to say 'here I is'. Has been a trying few days. As with so many of my medications, this new one sometimes works quickly, and sometimes not for hours. But my primary care doc has ordered enough muscle relaxers and the topical pain reliever cream that I can use those more frequently, so I get by. It is not fun some days, but I make it through.
Today a huge rain storm had rain falling just 2 or 3 blocks from us, kept the temps down, if a bit damp. We did get a small bit of rain last night, enough I did not have to water my pants today.
Saturday past I went on the bus to Pepper Place, where the farmers market and hand made craofs were offered, Christmas in July for the crafters. I needed onions and of all the farm stands there, there was only one selling onions. On Friday our visiting veggie man could not find his box that he thought contained some onions, so I had made just squash, not squash and onions. I made a cheese sauce, so it was good. My friend Brenda could not go, breathing problems, so asked me to take her coupons and get her some heirloom tomatoes and peaches. I had a fun time, and even helped another resident take her purchases back to the bus, they were quite heavy. she had bought peas to freeze, and I am not sure what else. Things are not heavy when you have them on your lap as you motor along hehehe.
I am waiting now for the formulary, the book containing all the medications my insurance covers, to arrive. When it does, I shall take it to the pain clinic, so they can see if there is a cheaper extended release medication. wish us luck with that, please.
Timer going off, I have a peach crisp in the oven. My house smells good. OH, some good news from my primary care doc. I had not been taking any medication for blood sugar, since it hurt my stomach. He wanted to see what my A1C wpi;d be without it. It came back 5.9, and I am no longer classed as diabetic, yeah! I feared it would be higher, since I no longer cook every meal I eat. Some of the lunches I purchase here are higher in carbs than I had been eating, but it did not make a difference, yeah!
Heidi, glad the ear is better.
Sympathies to Cyn and family as they bury her aunt. Congrats to Col on the new boy toy. You mentioned him going to work, how many hours/days is he working now?
I also do a bit of de-cluttering, straightening before my house keeper comes. She cannot clean/dust it if it is stacked with books or papers
She comes tomorrow around noon, so I have a few things to do tonight, or in the AM.
Julie, that was a LOT of shirts to fold! Hope you got them finished.
Hugs to each of you, with extras, till next time.

MIzT, so nice to see you stopping by! Too bad you couldn't get some onions, but your squash with cheese sauce and the peach crisp both sound yummy. I hope when you get a copy of the formulary you and your doctors are successful at finding a cheaper extended release medication.

Bugger Heidi!
Anecdote: last week a boy took the bus to go home instead of the bus to his babysitter. Dana waited with him and called the school. His dad came and picked him up. He did it again today, but the buses radioed each other and the bus he was supposed to be on came and got him! Nowhere else but a small town would that happen!

Great story Suzy. When I was 3/4 I used to walk to the end of our street to get a bus to kinder. Fell over one day and kind bus driver took me hone - the beginning of a lifetime friendship with my parents. Dandenong was a small town in those days - but awful now.

Suzy, what a nice thing Dana did for that little boy. Glad your friend is clear of cancer.
Midge, I always though of Dandenong as a small town until we went to Melbourne a few years ago and decided to have a drive through that area expecting to find it was still fairly rural. What a ghastly surprise - huge highways, completely urbanised and worst of all we completely lost our sense of direction. So we set the GPS for our hotel back near the city and gave up. The next day we headed in the opposite direction out along the Great Ocean Road and found what we were looking for! Wow!
