Been stalking the travellers on flight radar. They land in NY in 1 1/2 hours meaning they have been in the air or waiting around terminals (Sydney and LA) for 24 hours. They messaged me from LA in the middle of the (our) night and said they were over it. At least it will be 4.30 pm when they land in NY - time to get from the terminal to their hotel, have a quick look around, some dinner and an early night.
Suzy, yes they hope to see a show or two but couldn't agree so nothing booked yet. So it will probably be pot luck/last minute.

The doctor doesn't know. It could just be the weather affecting my body badly.... which is the most likely. We're having a severe cold snap. She also mentioned the posibility of fibromyalgia. We'll see how it continues, and if I don't get better the testing will start.

Suzy, it's wonderful that two major grocery store chains deliver! That's ideal for Dana and others who have a similar situation! It certainly helps that Dana was already a planner when she was younger, so it's nothing new for her.
CynB, I hope your D and her D have a wonderful visit to New York!
Heidi, great news that you don't have the flu!

Great TOPP and almost TOPP, DOrA! Thanks for the birthday wishes! And also for the advice!
Thank you for the birthday wishes, CynB!. I bet your D and her D will be more than ready to sleep after they get a bit acclimated and some dinner!
Heidi, I'm glad you don't have the flu, and I'm hoping it's your body reacting to the bad weather. At least, that will get better when the weather does. Here's hoping it's not fibromyalgia. Regardless of what it is, I know you'll do what you need to do to keep everything as normal as possible.
I've been trying to practice cello at least 2 hours a day for the past week or so. I'll probably try to do the same or more tomorrow, as I have a cello lesson the day after tomorrow. Hubby has a few appointments tomorrow, so that should give me some time to practice. We haven't talked about doing anything special, and we tend to not make a big deal of birthdays and holidays. He probably bought a card, and he may suggest we grab a bite to eat, but we usually opt for fast food or slightly better.
MizT, I hope the generic medication is providing the relief you had previously had with the brand name version before it was recalled. I definitely hope it's working much better than the medication that had been previously prescribed!
Thinking of everyone and sending warm and positive thoughts, {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, healing energy,

boy, I almost did not get here. Computer had done an upgrade, without asking me first. Now everything needs a new password, and I scrambled the first two tries here.
Julie, many groceries here have delivery, Publics was the first, through the Shipped program. Many of our residents use them on occasion, some few for all their grocery buying. I have even used it when I was not able to get to store, even on one of our bus trips to grocery. I also get a lot of non perishable 'grocery' items through Wal Mart's 2 day free shipping, including cleaning and household supplies. A real funny, I recently ordered 5 items for the $35 minimum purchase for no shipping charge, and they came in 5 separate boxes, on 5 diffident days. Every time I went downstairs, at least 3 people told me I had a package. I am sure they chatted among themselves about how much I had ordered hehehe. All package delivery goes to a non secure counter in one of the public rooms, and some residents make it their job to check who ordered from where. I had ordered trash bags, food storage bags, facial cleaner, hair product, and a cotton string mop, but I did not tell hehehe.
up for intermission, and meds. Meds working, so time to climb back in bed, hope to continue tomorrow, rather later this morning as it is 4:30
hugs to each of you till later.

Heidi, on our FB Sudoku group page, Lizzy from Gosford shared a picture of a Gypsy Vanner horse and remarked how she always thinks of you when she sees one. That resulted in many people saying the same thing and wondering how you are, including Mr Cee, Brenda, Theresa, Amelia and Kathy from Maryland. I told them you were still around on SA. They said hello and they miss you.

Back again. I have been busy last two days putting up the tree in lobby downstairs. Just a bit of that is more than enough. But the tree is looking good, might need to tweak it a bit more, it had bare spots this morning, I think I covered most of them today, but another look would be good.
I was asked to play canasta this past Sunday, and again next. Martha and I got whipped badly. Just the way the cards fell, neither of us got any help from wild cards to make the 120 points we needed, were both caught with 110 points plus in our hand, negative points for those not familiar with the game.
I am still having some of the same symptoms as I did from the BP meds. It seems fatigue, pain in my leg where I had the charlie horse, blurry vision, and some other things are coming and going still. I am tired of this, got things to do for the holidays.
I have started wearing my Christmas dressy T shirts and sweaters already. I have collected a few over the years, and scarfs, and jewelry. I might be able to wear something diffident each day for at least 2 weeks, then re run them for the last 2 weeks :). My addition to the collection arrived yesterday, a nice long silk like scarf, green, with stylized Christmas trees on it. I might wear that tomorrow, with black top and pants. We are having a memorial service here for my friend Caudelle. I think I mentioned her when she had her stroke. It was a bad one, she only lived a week after it, just too much damage to survive.
Suzy, hope all the rain does not lead to flooding. Let us know how it goes for you, please. Poor Gizmo, what with the thunder.
Heidi, sorry you are aching all over, yep, that could be fibro, but I do hope not. Would not wish that on my worse enemy, and NEVER on a friend. Feel better soon.
Julie, I forgot to wish you happy birthday, I hope it was a good day, with cake presents and good friends.
CynB, that 24 hours in the air or airports for family , I just do not even want to think about it. I could not do it, that is why I do not fly anywhere now. My last flight about 10 years ago, only 8 hours total, was too much for me. A canceled flight added about 4 hours to my trip that I was not expecting

I need to get back to my new book, it is #13 of a series, and was just released today. Only 4 of my friends are waiting their turn, we have a group that has read, or is reading all of these.
Can't get back further to re read posts and comment, without the risk of loosing this. So hugs to each of you, with extras.

Hi, Everyone! Thank you so much for the birthday wishes! Birthdays are pretty much a normal day for us. Hubby had a couple of appointment (blood draw, physical therapy, etc.), so I practiced cello. Roads are still bad after the foot (.3 meter) of snow we got Sunday to Monday. We opted for dinner at 'Red Robin' (a step or two above fast food, but nothing special) because roads are still bad & it's about a mile (1.6 km) away. After we got home, I practiced some more, watched a bit of TV with hubby, before coming to the computer.
Suzy, I hope the rain is just enough and not too much! Does Gizmo like people food? I bet he doesn't like to go out in the rain. I know our D's miniature schnauzer doesn't enjoy rain. WOW! Suzy, I watched the youtube you mentioned. That is one big animal!
Heidi, I hope you're feeling better, and I hope the snow has stopped by now! Here's hoping the temperature doesn't continue to drop!
MizT, you have certainly been busy! It's funny that some of the residents keep tabs on who gets packages and where they came from. I placed an Amazon order a few days ago for a runner and pad for our laundry 'room'/hallway, a few Christmas presents, a book or two (youngest grandie likes sticker books). It will be interesting to see how many boxes it arrives in (from 3 different vendors), especially with the 2 foot by 9 foot (.6 m by 2.75 m) runner and pad. It's NOT a 2-day delivery, but I'll try to remember to let you all know how many boxes and spread out over how many days.
MizT, I hope the troublesome side effects of your BP medication will disappear! Enjoy reading your book! I imagine all of your holiday decorating is helping to make everyone feel welcome and in the holiday spirit. Hubby brought the tree box up from the basement & put the tree together. Unfortunately, some of the strings of lights aren't working, so there will be some work (or shopping) to be done.
Thanks again for the birthday wishes, Everyone!
Sending lots of positive thoughts, healing energy,

Well it's just gone 8pm here and the outside temp has just dropped below 35C (95F), was 44C (111F) in the heat of the day. We've just opened doors, windows and curtains to let some fresh air in and let the house cool down with the outside temp. They'll stay open all night so the house is as cool as possible before tomorrow's heat starts. Only 38C tomorrow thank goodness!
There are fires fairly close to Rockhampton tonight, but they are far enough away that they shouldn't reach here. Also, we're lucky enough to be on the other side of the river from the fires - my mother and sister too.
I hope all of you are safe and well too.

Saltie, I'm glad to hear that you are on the other side of the river from those awful fires. I am appalled every time I see on the TV that the situation has worsened. And those temps!
Yesterday was one of the weirdest weather days I've ever encountered. As I drove to my Art class at about 12.30, it was 30 C and high tide, the bay was so choppy that the water was breaking like waves over the roadside and got my car. While I was in Art class we heard thunder rolling in and the rain started but abruptly stopped after less than 30 seconds. No moisture in that. I left class at 3.30pm in 36 C temps drove home in scary high winds, branches down everywhere. I was in for about 10 minutes when we heard multiple sirens. Power lines were down, a couple of road accidents and an outbreak of fire. Both roads in from the highway were closed for hours to weary workers just wanting to get home. By 7.30 the fire was out and the power lines repaired. Temp was down to 28 C, and is 22 C now (7am) with 31 c expected today.

146mm of rain, nearly 5 inches. The roads are open, but there’s stuff everywhere. Alie has been called in to work. It will be a tough day for her because she will be cleaning up water damage.

Sometimes, even a wide river isn't enough to stop a wildfire. Last year, a major fire, burning on the Oregon side of the Columbia River, threw off 'embers', that sparked a fire on the Washington side of the river. Obviously, wind direction and velocity were major 'players' in that scenario...
Vigilance, is definitely a a key to safety...

I'm feeling sooo sad this morning. Yesterday my grandie Emily's dog, a 10 yo rescue border collie/kelpie cross got sick while her Dad was at work. When he got home they took him to the Vet for tests. At first they thought he had been bitten by a snake due to a wound on his paw. Meanwhile $3000 later and umpteen tests it looks like he has liver failure and pancreatic cancer. He will have to be put to sleep. My son will come home from work as soon as he can, tell Em and give her the option to be with Sylvester when he goes. She recently got a second rescue dog called Diesel - hopefully she can console herself with him.
Note to self: I must send her the Rainbow Bridge poem!

Hi, Everyone!
Saltie, your temperatures seem very high. Are they within the normal range for this time of year? I hope the house will have cooled off somewhat by morning! I'm so glad to hear that you (and your mother and sister) are separated from the fires by the river!
DOrA, I also enjoyed the video you shared. I have to agree with Heidi. We need more cowboys and good people!
CynB, yesterday was indeed a weird weather day! So glad you got home without incident!
Suzy, you sure got a lot of rain, but hopefully no damage near you. I don't envy Alie and having to clean up water damage.
DOrA, thanks for the reminder that vigilance is key when dealing with fires - and other natural disasters as well!
Cyn, such sad news for Emily. At least it's not as bad as it might have been, since the pancreatic cancer has been ruled out. It's a relief that medication will give them a few more years!
Cyn, it sure does seem that those travelers should have known what documents were needed for their travel. But, we probably all know people who 'read' important information by just 'skimming through' and not really paying attention. If they were frequent travelers, you would think they might have realized they'd need appropriate visas. If this was the 'trip of a lifetime' and they hadn't done much traveling previously, you would think their travel agent would realize it and perhaps given them a few pointers. However, it doesn't absolve them from the rules.
It's getting late, and I need to head to bed. Sending healing energy, prayers, {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, positive thoughts, and

Alie cleaned up mud! They had to shovel, sweep, hose, and then mop - inside and out. Luckily they hired some extra people to help. There’s a wedding this weekend so it had to be done quickly, and thoroughly.
She’s back there tomorrow. Probably to make wedding beds, which she hates. That’s a bit strong, it’s hard work. Lots of doona covers etc.
When I travelled internationally, my travel agent took care of everything, but that was because it was for work.

Greetings to Everyone!
Suxy, what a job Alie and the others faced in cleaning up the mud both inside and out. Of course, with a weekend wedding, it had to be done - and quickly! Any chance for overtime pay?
DOrA, thanks for the link to information about the heat and fire possibilities in Australia. It seems there's possibility for fires as devastating as those in California. I hope they're wrong!
DOrA, I never thought about what it would be like to be married to a Chinese National. It's no wonder one or the other inevitably needs to have a Visa for traveling. At least, they're used to the routine, I assume.
Heidi, I hope you're feeling better! Have you been able to weed out the cows that you'll be selling?
CynB, I hope Emily's dog Sylvester is continuing to improve.
MizT, I hope things are improving with your new BP medication!
Saltie, I hope things have cooled down a bit! Hoping the fires keep a good distance away from you! Stay safe!

Julie, there is apparently a new law where if you are called in for an extra shift they have to pay you time and a half. Somehow they managed to get a new roster to Alie before she arrived yesterday so bypassed the law. Today’s shift was also an extra so she might get paid more for that one.
She’s off to Sydney now.

Dana messaged me today. Tahli is apparently in the choir and they have a performance this weekend, only Tahli never told Dana she was in the choir!
Also I sent $20 to Daniel for his birthday. He chose to take everyone to McDonald’s for a happy meal. He gave the money I gave him when they visited to the farmers, and he spent this lot on his sisters! Dana said they bought him some LEGO to make up for it, but he didn’t know that was going to happen when he chose to spend the money on his sisters. He’s exhausting to be around and considers the word no a challenge, but he has an amazing heart!

Hi, Everyone and Happy Weekend!
Suzy, I hope Alie gets paid extra for at least one of the days!
Good for Tahli for being in the choir, but not to great that Dana didn't know. They may be required to wear a particular color or something special for a performance. If so, I hope it's something Dana already has for Tahli! I hope the weekend performance fits into their schedule!
You're right about Daniel having a big heart. How thoughtful that he wanted to treat his sisters to a Happy Meal with his birthday money! I'm glad Dana was able to get him some Legos so he was able to get something special for his birthday!
It seems that everyone must be busy for the weekend. I hope it's a 'good busy!' Take care, Everyone, and enjoy some time relaxing, I hope.
We''ll be volunteering all day tomorrow at an Empty Bowls function, a fund raiser for local food pantries. Our wood turning club makes and donates items turned from wood, as bowls, vases, bottle stoppers, pens, etc., that are sold via a Silent Auction. The last couple of years, the money made from our part of the auction has been a bit over $2,000. I don't know how much is made by selling the ceramic bowls and the cup of soup and slice of bread.
