'Tittle' reminded me of a joke I heard way back in the 60's.
It was still in the time of the British Empire and a small African country asked the Brits for help setting up a court to deal with criminals. It was decided that the Brits would provide a judge and all the information required to set up this court. It would otherwise be staffed by locals. They took this seriously and read up on procedure including court transcripts of previous trials.
On the first day of the new court, all went well except for the strange occurrence of one of the court staff occasionally running around the court slapping the chests of all of the traditionally dressed bare-breasted women sitting in the courtroom.
The judge was puzzled by this behaviour and stopped proceedings to ask what was going on.
'Well, it was in the transcripts.' The judge was puzzled. They showed him the transcript which read - wait for it -
'A titter ran through the courtroom'.

I am getting so tired of all this rain! The ground doesn't get a chance to dry out before it rains again. The mud is out of control. I pity the cattle and horses. Even the dogs get soaked every time they go outside, even if it isn't raining at the time. The ground is over saturated and water splashes out when they run.
The new dogs, Smokey and Heidi, are doing well. They love the dog door and are having a blast with their freedom. They also have very healthy appetites. They'll put on weight quickly.

Just popping by. Sorry you're getting so much rain, Heidi. It sure makes things difficult for all of your 4-legged critters and lots of muddy clean up for you! Is there more rain predicted? Colder temperatures? We have been having temperatures in the 40s and sometimes reaching 50, but they're dropping quickly and we've had some snow flurries today and tonight.Sure hope things will improve! So glad to hear that Smokey and Heidi are doing well!

It's past the witching hour, so I really need to get some sleep. Sending lots of {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, healing energy, , prayers, and positive thoughts for everyone!

Smokey is a delinquent. He has learned that he can jump my fence around the yard, and gets out whenever he wants to. Then his sister follows him. Earlier today they took off. I called and called, and finally they came running down the road and back up the driveway. I have no idea where they were. It scares the bejeezus out of me thinking that they were running down the middle of the road. I have no idea how I will stop this. Smokey can get thru' any gate or fence he wants to get thru'. And he is so proud of himself for his brainpower. I WILL be getting him neutered a lot sooner than planned. We were waiting for him to put on weight first, but I think he's insisted on us doing it as soon as possible. Snip snip.

Hi, Everyone!

Just in case I don't get back before New Year's Eve, I'd like to wish everyone a very Healthy and Happy New Year!

Heidi, I hope you can find a way to convince Smokey and Heidi that they should stay within their boundaries!

DOrA, of course it's Smokey instigating! It could't be Heidi!

Happy New Year 2019 to all the lovely SA people!
What's everyone doing?
We're having my siblings and their partners over for a Greek themed dinner. It's our Christmas catch-up as well. After dinner we'll probably play a few fun games like Balderdash. My husband is always good for a laugh.

CynB and Col, have fun hosting the family dinner. It's always fun to play games with family members afterwards! That's one of the things I miss since both of our parents passed. My 5 siblings and I now have family gatherings with our children and grandchildren, so games are geared to the younger ones.

Heidi, I'm sorry to hear about Shaunte. As Suzy said, it seems like it might be the kindest thing. Sending {{{HUGS}}} and

Saltie, My husband has celebrated New Year at Cameron Corner years ago before we met, he was working for an Oil Exploration company out there.

We have often celebrated New Year twice - once over the border at Tweed Heads - at one of the big clubs like Twin Towns, then we'd jump in the car, drive half way back towards Brisbane and have Belgian Waffles at a Service Station. It would be full of happy revellers by midnight. Then Qld got it's own poker machines and casinos and it all changed.

Happy New Year! Sorry I'm late. I've been working on my Christmas cards.

Not much celebrating happening here, which is standard for us. Hubby headed to the recliner in the hopes of getting comfortable enough to sleep, so I continued on the cards & letters for a while, then to the computer to pop in , the check email.

May the New Year provide happiness, good health, and wonderful new memories for everyone! Sending healing energy, prayers, {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, positive thoughts, and

We used to celebrate twice. Once when the ball dropped in New York, then again 3 hours later when it was midnight in SoCal. Alie actually argued with us when she was 7 or 8 that she’d always stayed up until midnight. Well we did kind of fib to them so they’d get to celebrate, but also go to bed at a reasonable hour.

In honor of the New Day in the New Year -

(lyrics from a favorite tune)

Rise up this mornin',
Smiled with the risin' sun,
Three little birds
Perch by my doorstep
Singin' sweet songs
Of melodies pure and true,
Sayin', ('This is my message to you-ou-ou:')

Singin': 'Don't worry 'bout a thing,
'Cause every little thing gonna be all right.'
Singin': 'Don't worry (don't worry) 'bout a thing,
'Cause every little thing gonna be all right!'

My friend Debbie's husband, Bob, passed away an hour ago. The cancer had spread throughout his body into his brain and spine. He denied it to the end, and was convinced that he was beating the cancer. Bob was a selfish pig who refused to get life insurance to help out Debbie if anything happened to him. He also refused to tell her anything about his debts, which she suspects are horrendous. She's on disability and cannot make it on her own. I've been doing everything I can to help her out but this will be an even bigger strain on her finances. I feel so sorry for her.

Wow, Suzy, it would be more enjoyable on a pretty day. Kind of narrowish (I think) and windy with few places where a car could pull over briefly, if necessary. How far is the total one-way distance? I know you said that about 7 km looks like this. I hope you both enjoy the drive!

Heidi, I'm sorry to hear about Debbie's husband - in many ways. I'm not sure what Kentucky laws are. I hope DOrA is right that his debts shouldn't be hers if she didn't sign for them. What a shame that he refused to get life insurance! Thinking positive thoughts for her!

Julie, it is very narrow, there are intermittent small areas on the side of the road you can pull into if a car comes from the other direction. The unpaved section of the road is 9 km long. For the last bit you can see the river off to the side and it’s beautiful. Part of the problem with the video was the quality of the camera., but it was overcast too

At least there's no way that Debbie can lose her house or car if she's saddled with his debts. Both are in my name for her protection. She lost her previous home from him getting into legal problems, so we prevented that from happening again.

Suzy, I'm sure it would be a prettier drive on a sunny day. Also, seeing the river off to the side at the end of the drive would make it much more enjoyable.

Heidi, I'm so glad you saw to it that Debbie would not lose her house or car! Your are such a good friend! Still, it would have been better if he had purchased a life insurance policy. She still faces a difficult situation.

Heidi, I wish I could send you some sunny days so the ground could dry!

Morning all! Yes, Julie, I'm one of the ones who have been missing. Have had a few grandies here since New Year. Emily has been here a lot after she had a big blow-up with her mother, not that the woman has any right to be called a mother! But don't get me on to that!
I went to change my avatar from the HNY one and happened across this one of my grandie Maddy at about 5-6yo when she first started ballet and tap dancing. Gave it up a couple of years ago now. She is 18 this Wednesday, third grandchild to become an adult. So I thought I would put the avatar up for a week or so to celebrate her birthday.

Maddy has always been a loving and helpful girl. This week she had trouble with her car, something behind a wheel - the 'hub'? - and Col said he'd fix it. 'No, Poppy, you can tell me what to do and I'll do it'. So she drives over, comes in wearing a high vis work shirt, and does all the work with Col supervising. Ended up with grease here and there, even in her hair, but did it and did it well according to Col. She is a gorgeous girl, inside and out.

Hi, Everyone!

It's good to see you this year. You have a perfect excuse for being AWOL. Grandies take precedent! You and your grannies are so fortunate to live close enough to be able to do frequent visits! {{HUGS}} to Emily. It sounds as if she could use a few extra, though I'm sure you and Col are providing many!

Nice avatar of Maddy. Because it's a photo, it helps give you an idea of when you submitted it. Was it early in your Sudoku 'career?' Gosh, nearly 12 or 13 years ago? Happy upcoming 18th birthday to Maddy!

Our Maddie grandie is now 13 and the oldest of our grandies. She is also a sweetie, but we noticed at Christmas that being a teen has impacted her patience with younger siblings, at least a bit.

Your Maddy sounds like a sweetheart. How nice that she was willing to come and let Col teach her how to do the work on the car, not expect him to do it for her! What a great experience!

Heidi, I hope the rain is slowing or has subsided! Also hoping your friend Debbie is doing OK! She has been through a lot.

MizT, I hope all is going well and you have enjoyed visiting with family for the holidays! I'm hoping the BP medication has finally been worked out!

Suzy, have you had a chance to see Dana and her kiddos at some time during the holiday? How are you doing?

Tami, has your winter break ended? I'm thinking you are back to school, or will be by Monday. I hope you had a chance to relax!

DOrA, saltie and Midge (and anyone else I've missed), I hope your New Year is off to a great start! I apologize to anyone I may have overlooked.

Sending healing energy, {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, positive thoughts, , and prayers for everyone!

Heidi, yes, with some of the 'old cows' having given you 15 calves, I think you had already gotten your money's worth. I am glad you got more than expected from them. So glad you have pain meds again.

Suzy, sorry that light at the end of the tunnel was an oncoming train Hopefully the cost of repair was not too high. Happy for you that insurance paid for damage burst pipe cused.

OH, Heidi, it breaks my heart that anyone could neglect any dogs that long.Malinois are such good natured dogs. I know they have to be most happy to now be with you.

Suzy, my Christmas was very different this year also. We just have to adjust to the 'new normal' don't we? So happy you got a ticket to your concert for Christmas!

Only a phone call from one of my daughters, nothing at all from the other two. One of them was at the family gathering at my sister's with her partner. I do not think she spoke to me once we got there, too much wrapped up in him. I am still thinking that is not a healthy relationship, he came with her to the party, but I think he uttered only one sentence to anyone there, and that in answer to a direct question. Just sat as if he were bored with the bunch. I am worried about her. she has had two previous very unhealthy relationships, one of them a marriage. It took her Dad to get through to her, find out what was going on. Now that he is gone, I am not sure anyone can.

JULIE, I read all your typos as you intended. I would not have even known about typos if you had not corrected them.

Cyn B, I did not think that racist, rather a cute misunderstanding of the meaning of words. I will never see that word in print or conversation again without a big grin.

Heidi, I do hope the snip snip helps settle Smokey. I know from experience of 2 litters of pups, they are smart as whips and can escape anywhere. The litters I helped with were in a concrete block building, in kennels or runs with 10 foot high chain link fencing. Every morning when the lady who fed them went in the door, several of the dogs (11 in each litter) were running free in the building. One day one of the dogs had gone to top of the fence, then over to stand on the 2x4 hanging florescent light fixture. Dog was severely shocked when lights were turned on. sorry about Shaunte, but know you always do what is best for the dogs.

Julie, not much New Year's celebration here either. I fell asleep in my recliner before 11 even

Suzy, we could only get our littles in bed one hour early, after watching New York celebration, since we are only one hour behind. Once they got older and not sound asleep before midnight, the fireworks locally at midnight woke them.

Have enjoyed my canasta games this weekend. Was on winning side 3 out of 4 games, but they really beat us the last game, with then getting 2000 points right at end of game. Enjoying muchly and learning a lot about strategy as I go along. Thursday I also won one game of scrabble, but had low score on se

I also won one game of scrabble, but had low score on second game. We are evenly matched players, not as good as Heidi, but even in abilities so that noone is always winner or looser, depends on how the board goes and what letters you get.
