CynB.... my fingers are crossed that everything turns out OK for Col. I'm hoping it was just a stressful rection to the chemo, not an infection.

Cyn, I'm so sorry to read about Col's return to the hospital, but have read on TOS just now that he was transferred to the hospital where he's getting his treatments. I hope all is well and he's feeling much better and will be able to return home soon. Sending positive thoughts for both of you

Suzy, you're right! It would be might rare for 5 ambulances to race to the site of a motorcycle accident, unless it was a multi-vehicle accident. Sorry for the motorcyclist and his family.

Sending healing energy, prayers, {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, and positive thoughts for everyone!

Hi there, yes, his temp is down and all signs are good, he's staying in overnight just in case and they will take his pump off in the morning. His Oncologist thinks it was a reaction to the chemo and will try a little adjustment in the next one. She says she's seen it before but that we did the right thing, that's what all the education beforehand told us to do, get help if temp rises above 38c.
Another night to myself tonight, I like that sometimes, but I will be happy to get him home tomorrow.

Therapy today went really well. I'm getting more range of motion without pain eash day. I'm feeling pretty good about the possibility of not needing surgery after all.

Thank you for the Groucho quotes, Heidi! They make great TOPPs!

Cyn, I'm glad Col is doing better and is hopefully home by now.

Heidi, that's wonderful news that your shoulder is feeling better and has better range of motion. Keep up the good work!

DOrA, that is EXCELLENT advice! Cats are notorious for vomiting on the carpet, rarely on tile or wood that can be cleaned more easily! (We have only had cats. I don't know if dogs are as discriminating about where they vomit.)

I have been thinking recently about some of our fellow Sudokuaholics who haven't posted recently. I'm not sure if they're lurking, reading occasionally without the time to comment, or maybe no longer have time to visit. Regardless, I'm sending some extra , healing energy, positive thoughts, {{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}, and prayers for all Sudokuaholics, both past and present! Good Night!

I wonder if this has anything to do with the multiple helicopters Suzy mentioned the other day. https://www.nbnnews.com.au/2019/08/18/child-injured-in-fall-near-mount-warning-summit-2/?fbclid=IwAR 3EASZochzt3xyadxOcUnHUuivWFu_qZg-bTC-z_4ggb4DrKfl0Yrv6JTU

Good morning all - Colin came home on Saturday and has been fine since. He's already left for work this morning. So all good until his next chemo on Aug 29th.
Except that he has another laser procedure on his eye this Wednesday. There's still a small amount of debris and fluid at the back of his eye. It was 18 months last week since his accident.
I sometimes wonder if we will ever have a normal life again.

No Julie, that boy who fell was at Mount Warning, near the NSW/Queensland border, about an hour or so from me and very near where Martha lives. Suzy lives south of Sydney, probably 1000km away.
Different helicopter.

Cyn, thanks for the good news about Col. That's great (I think) that he feels good enough to get back to work!

Cyn, thanks so much for clearing up my confusion over helicopters and rescues! On occasion, I have thought of trying to put together a map of where people live. It's obvious that I should definitely do that. If I had, I would have realized that the story Martha reported couldn't possibly be connected to Suzy's story. Thanks for making some sense of it!

I hope everyone has had a relaxing and enjoyable weekend! I'm sending lots of {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, healing energy, , prayers, and warm and positive thoughts for Everyone!

Another good physical therapy session. I like these people. No pain, and a lot of gain. My range of motion increases with every session. I'm doing 2 sessions a week plus exercises at home. I'm pretty certain that I will not need surgery now.

I'm impressed with my Catahoula puppies. They're very intelligent and quick learners. I only have to tell them anything once. This is why I have dogs, not children. Altho' Candy and Zorro have discovered my fish pond and jump in several times a day, then run into the house soaking wet.

Heidi, I'm so glad the Catahoula puppies are making such a good adjustment so quickly! Better yet, I'm thrilled for the progress you're making with physical therapy! You go, Girl!

DOrA, I'm not sure how well Candy and Zorro might learn not to run inside the house after a swim. Maybe - they could learn to bring a towel to Heidi for a quick rubdown before going inside?

Heidi, I was reading an article about names that mean something different in different languages. This was one

Gil

In Poland, ‘gil’ is not used as a name or a particularly nice word. In Polish, the word ‘gil’ means “snot”.

https://www.petfinder.com/dog/reeses-39480760/ky/boston/barktown-rescue-ky321/
Reeses is either a Catahoula or Catahoula mix. Just 2 years old and neutered. Housebroken. Good with other dogs. And he's almost completely deaf. I've had deaf dogs before and they're easy to deal with. I just need to keep him away from situations where hearing is essential. I sent in my application. They liked it. They talked to my Vet. He gave me a glowing reference. They talked to my friend Debbie who's known me and my dogs for nearly 30 years. They liked what they heard. So they'll be bringing Reeses over here in a few days to see if he likes my place and gets along with the Collies and Catahoula pups. Which he should.

Suzy - that is priceless - love that version of Gil.
Heidi - great news abut your shoulder. Another rescue dog - lovely. I don't know how anyone can give up their pet.
Hope MizT is faring well.
CynB - great news about Col too that it was probably a reaction to chemo which can be adjusted to suit.
Having a couple of squamous removed today and then a night at our football club with old players from the 70's and 80's - should be interesting as we knew a few of them through hubby's cousin a long time ago. Will have to hobble again - broke a couple of toes last weekend and once again not very mobile.
Son no. 1 (43yrs) has moved back home for a couple of months and then he is off to Santiago to get away from here for a while. Hope this helps with his recuperation from concussion, still cannot focus properly and has tinnitus but distance may be a good thing for him mentally now. Son no. 2 in Thailand for a couple of weeks - good timing on his behalf as he has missed most of the upheaval with trying to fit an apartment's worth of furniture into our house. Cheers to everybody

An adventure this morning. Jasper, the second dog we got, is very jealous and anxious. I think I mentioned that he has middle child syndrome. This morning he attacked one of the little ones. Lots of blood but we couldn’t work out where it was coming from. Quick trip to the vet. They couldn’t work it out either. Pain killers, antibiotics, monitor and bring her back if there’s any sign of more issues

DOrA, I suspect it's more than Trump's 'naughty words' that offend people. I think Heidi covered most of it.

Thanks for sharing the Polish meaning for 'Gil', Suzy!

Heidi, I'm beginning to suspect that Catahoula dogs are you second most favorite breed after collies. I hope Reeses' visit goess well for everyone!

Hi, Midge! I hope the squamous removal today went well!. It should be fun at the football club with players from the 70s and 80s returning! I'm so sorry to hear about the broken toes! I hope they don't prevent you from having fun!

Midge, I hope Son No. 1 gets some much needed rest and time and space away from the attack he suffered. Hoping there will be some much-needed recovery for him! You're right, Son No. 2 timed his travel to Thailand well to miss all the upheaval and moving. I hope all of your family members are doing well!

Suzy, I'm so sorry Jasper decided to have a moment of reckoning with one of the smaller dogs. Hopefully, it's a good thing that neither you nor the vet was able to find a source for the blood. Maybe Jasper loosened one of his teeth, and that was the source? I hope all of the dogs recover from their physical or mental wounds! I also hope there will be no residual pain or infections! Crossing fingers you all have a quiet night and coming week!

I'll try to find MizT's post on TOS.

Thinking of everyone and sending healing energy, prayers, positive thoughts, {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, and !

Collies are still my first love, but fortunately, VERY few get into the shelters and rescue system. I've become enamored of the Catahoula personality and attitude, and lately there have been a bunch needing rescue due to their increasing popularity. And they're dogs that are NOT right for everybody. They're strong minded, highly intelligent dogs who NEED an owner who is smarter than them, and is pack leader. They also need a LOT of exercise.

We had a short but intense storm here today. I'm glad I put lightning rods on the house and all the barns, because there was a direct hit at the start of the storm. Took me by surprise. Before the strike, I thought the storm was still a good 50 miles away. Over the next hour, we got nerly 3 inches of rain, it was coming down so hard. And the winds were so intense at the beginning that I thought a tornado might be in the area. But I looked around and saw no sign of one. The Catahoulas were a scream! They had to go out and play in the downpour. The Collies thought they were nuts. Collies are fanatically clean dogs and refuse to get their paws wet or dirty.

My daughter and her cousin (the third cousin in the group went on to Portugal after their week in Ithaki) have been on to Santorini and Mykonos - both absolutely spectacular places, it seems, and yesterday flew into Athens, their last stop. Whilst it worth going to Athens for the history and that fabulous Acropolis that stands out above the city, it is not the way I remember it from the 90's. There is graffiti everywhere, even on the walls of the beautiful ancient buildings. It's not safe unless the area is well lit and populated. The street hawkers are pushy and scary. They are still keen to make the most of their few days there. Today, they are doing an 8 hour guided tour around the city and the Acropolis, which is also a foodie tour. They have had some amazing food so far. I think they'll need weeks to recover which won't be easy as they both have work to get back to and life goes on.

Suzy, what a long work day for Alie! I hope she has a great (and relaxing) weekend with her BF!

Oh, NO! Cyn, how can it only be 4 months until Christmas! This year is going MUCH TOO FAST!

I hope Col (and you, of course) are doing well! When does your D get back? I hope they have made many wonderful memories!

We're just back from dinner with my youngest brother. He sometimes backs out after making arrangement, so we kind of held our breath to see if he would show up. He did, and we had a nice dinner and conversation.

There's so much we need to do around the house, but time just slips out of our hands. We can only do what we can do.

Our 3 1/2 year old grandie began preschool this week. The 3 older grandies live in another state and won't start school until after Labor Day, which is on Sept. 2 this year.

Heidi, I hope you're feeling better!

I hope everyone is well! Sending lots of {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, healing energy, positive thoughts, and prayers.

Julie, I hope your grandie enjoys preschool this week! I'm glad your brother showed up for dinner. It's always nice to have some time with siblngs even if it's not often.
I have a sister and a brother. When my sister retired she and her husband moved to within 5kms (3 miles) of my place and then my brother, who is 69 today, moved from way out of town to about 10kms from us, so for the first time since we were kids we're all in close range and see one another much more often.

My daughter came home last night laden with presents for everyone. I got a silver olive branch on a stand, hand-crafted in Ithaki, home of my ancestors,. It is exquisite.
They had the most wonderful time and she was less exhausted than I expected after two flights from Athens, one 4.5 hours to Abu Dhabi and the other 14 hours home. The second flight was less than half full, so they each took a bank of 3 seats and slept much of the way.

Oh, and yes, Julie, Colin is doing fine, dealing with the small side effects of his treatment, easier now he's more used to it. Cycle #3 is on Thursday. Fingers crossed that he fares better than the last one.

Hi, CynB! Thank you for the updates! Happy Birthday to your brother! You're lucky that you and your siblings live so near each other!

I have 3 brothers and 2 sisters. At one time we saw my youngest brother for a quick dinner at least once a month, as he lives closest to us (about 35-40 minute drive). Now he works in Chicago instead of about 10 minutes from home, so has an hour or longer train commute each way. He only has Saturday to try to get anything house or car related done, so he's less likely to agree to other commitments (maybe 2 or 3 times a year for dinner). Another brother lives about 1 1/2 hours away, and the third is almost 3 hours away. The sister we see most often (4 or 5 times a year) lives about 2 1/2 hours away, and the other sister is about 3 hours away. It would be nice if we all lived closer and could get together more often.

Cyn, how nice that your D is back home and had a wonderful time on her trip! The silver olive branch sounds beautiful, a gift to be treasured! They were so fortunate the the flight from Abu Dhabi was less than half full and they could stretch out across several seats and get some sleep on that leg of the journey!

I'm glad Colin is doing fine and the side effects passed. Crossing fingers that the next treatment on Thursday will go extremely well!

Heidi, I hope you're recovering from the flu and all of the Catahoula pups are doing well. I don't remember when you were going to get the next one, but it must be coming soon.

Midge, I hope the squamous were removed completely and easily! Did you get to go to the football club? Hoping you had a good time there! I also hope all's going well since your Son moved back!

DOrA, I hope all is going well!

Missing MizT. I hope much of her pain has been sorted and she's more comfortable! I hope she finds her way back here eventually!

Thinking of everyone and sending healing energy, positive thoughts and prayers, {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, and for Everybody!
