Our weather has gotten weirder than I can remember. It's a delightful 70˚F / 21˚C right now, just after 6 pm. It's supposed to get down to around freezing tonight, with a possibility of snow tonight and tomorrow.

Oh, I'll get Col to have the Astra vaccine.
I have to see the doctor next week to follow up on the antidepressants, which are working wonders still. I will tell him about Col's reluctance. He will talk to him next time he has goes to see him. They have a good rapport and he will listen to Patrick (the Doc).
I think Col's had enough of any medical procedures for the moment and has his first eye injection next week. That is preying on his mind. He can't cope as well as he could before all of this happened. He was strong and invincible, he thought, until the eye accident and then the cancer.

Morning.
I had the AstraZenica Vax last Saturday. I felt Blah, with Sore Arm and Headaches on Sunday. Still have a Sore Arm at the Injection Site 4 days later, other than that I am fine! Ho Hum!!!
Best Wishes to Col and his first eye injection next week Cyn. fingers crossed he listens to the GP and gets his jab. Peter will have to wait till the next phase is rolled out.
I am having a giggle at the 'rumor' Heidi
Julie, nice to see up and about. take care xxx
Midge... My boy in Melbourne is coming home to Perth for a 3 week holiday 30th April. Fingers Crossed no Quarantine. he usually comes just for a weekend, he has allowed 2 weeks Q if need be. he wants to be home for my birthday (Mid May), and have a week's holiday too. the first 2 weeks he will work, have Laptop can work remotely, as he has done so in the last 12/13 months from home. we last saw him Oct 2019, when he came home after my Heart Op.
Weather... yeah, warming up again to low 30C's again over the weekend...

Woke up this morning to everything covered with snow. So weird, what with all the trees leafing out and many in bloom. I'm so glad I decided to turn on the heat lamps for all the chickens last night as the temperature started to plummet around 10 pm. It dropped 30˚ in just 20 minutes.... from 70˚F to 40˚F ! Brrrrrrr.

Rolanda - only 2 weeks to go! I hope everything goes smoothly Covid-wise between now and then and your boy gets home finally. Happy parents that day for sure!
Heidi, that's a massive drop in temperature in so few minutes. Will the snow kill the new growth?

The new growth should be safe. There was about an inch of snow, but there was no hard freeze. The same with tonight. It's supposed to hover just above freezing. We had snow coming down most of the day today, but everything melted because it got up to 45˚F / 7.2˚C even while snowing this afternoon. Very weird weather.

I heard today that my idiot ex had a mild stroke a couple of days ago. Couldn't have happened to a better person. I just wish it had been a more serious stroke.

Heidi, I'm so glad you got your second Covid vaccine and also glad that side effects were limited! One D got her second Pfizer the end of last week and her migraines became nearly unbearable and she felt very cold and shook uncontrollably for about a day. She's feeling much better now. Other D gets her second Pfizer tomorrow, so we/re thinking positive thoughts for her. My reaction was much like yours, Heidi, and hubby's was similar to what was explained as a possibility to you.

Cyn, I'm glad you got yours and hope Col will decide to have his soon.

Midge, I'm sorry your D had such a tough reaction to her second Covid vaccine!

Heidi, I think it's funny that some gossip seems to have started. Some people have too much time on their hands!

Great TOPP, Heidi and Aristotle!

It's so nice to see that you visited here, Rolanda! How nice that your son in Melbourne is planning a visit timed around your birthday!

I hope Col's eye injection goes well and clears some of his anxiety.

Sorry, I can't stay awake, so I'll just say Good Night, All! Sending healing energy, positive thoughts, , {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, and prayers for Everyone!

Wonderful to have your son home for your birthday Rolanda - my 3rd son is moving to Darwin just before mine (hope that doesn't mean anything!!!). I have cousins in Perth (Mandurah, Lakesfield area). Also a friend owns the top floor of the old brewery and the view is fantastic looking out over the river and city. Look forward to getting over your way again one day. The sinkholes in Perth fascinate me.
Not good news about your ex Heidi - my aunt had many of those and it was very hard to cope with her at times with horrid mood changes,.... maybe he will get them too! Thank goodness you are not obliged to look after him.
Julie - hope you are feeling much better. How is hubby coping?
Had physio for sciatica again today and pretty sore and then built up my courage and went to the dentist. Have been putting that off for 7 years - dentist told me I should have all my bottom teeth out as meds have ruined 4 of them. Today, a different one said only partial denture - feeling a bit happier abut that.
Just been quoted around $5k to have the water damage and reseal on my old caravan - wish someone would pinch it - worth more on insurance.

Mike has determined when that ugly bull smashed the fence and got in with the cows several weeks ago, he DID breed one of my purebred Red Angus heifers and a Balancer heifer of his. We're not thrilled, but those will be calves to sell, not keep. Both calves will be born around Christmastime. They'll probably have some white on their faces like the bull.

Rolanda, just a week until your son is able to come home. Hoping all goes as planned - or even better - and you have a wonderful 3-week vacation with him. Even though he'll be working remotely 2 of the 3 weeks, at least you'll be able to enjoy some time together during meals and evenings until his actual vacation/time off takes place.

Heidi, I'm sorry the wayward bull succeeded in breeding one of your Red Angus heifers and Mike's heifer. Must be very frustrating!

I'm fading fast, so will say Good Night! Thinking of Everyone and sending healing energy, , positive thoughts, prayers, and {{{{{HUGS}}}}}!

Good to see Julie back on a regular basis. Hope your recovery is progressing well.

After a string of early summer like weather, rain is back for the foreseeable future. Bah! Just when the ground was starting to dry and the puddles were disappearing. Double Bah!!

Wishing Col the best, possible, outcome for his upcoming medical procedure.

Heidi, sorry to hear about the results of the wayward, amorous, bulls incursion.

No Covid vaccine, here, yet. No particular reason. I'm not a resister, just not very interested in scheduling an appt. then having a, minimum, 35 mile, one way drive to get it.

My year old apple tree is growing and starting to 'leaf out'. It is outgrowing the first fence I put around it, to keep the deer from munching the leaves. Yesterday I drove in 8 fence posts and got one row of field fence fabric applied. I still need another, higher layer of fabric as all I had, on hand was 4 foot - not tall enough...

I started a new
exercise routine.

Every day I do
diddly-squats...

A nice, calm, and respectable lady went into the pharmacy, walked up to the pharmacist, looked straight into his eyes, and said, “I would like to buy some cyanide.”

The pharmacist asked, “Why in the world do you need cyanide?”

The lady replied, “I need it to poison my husband.”

The pharmacist’s eyes got big and he exclaimed, “Lord have mercy! I can’t give you cyanide to kill your husband. Absolutely not! You CANNOT have any cyanide!”

The lady reached into her purse and pulled out a picture of her husband in bed with the pharmacist’s wife.

The pharmacist looked at the picture and said, “You didn’t tell me you had a prescription.”

So nice to Julie back and posting most days. We missed you. Are you well now? Is you foot okay?
Yesterday Col had his first eye injection to try to stabilise his eye. 2 more to go. I went in with him. It was very quick and he said he didn't feel it but was tired and headachy later in the day. That was to be expected. Bandage off this morning and off to work, per Doctor's recommendation of 'back to normal'.

It's a start, CynB. Hopefully, the injections will help him.

Quiet day today. I delivered eggs to the food pantry and took my friend Debbie to the eye doctor today. They had to dialate so she didn't want to drive. Otherwise, just did sundry small chores around the farm.

Hi, Everyone!

Heidi, were you able to finish mowing?

CynB, I hope Col gets some relief/improvement from the injection in his eye! Here's hoping it will help!

Heidi, it may have been a quiet day, but you were busy delivering eggs to the food pantry and taking Debbie to the eye doctor! Sometimes, the 'small' chores can take far longer to complete than the bigger ones.

I've been watching the goldfish in my pond spawning. I think I'm going to have a population explosion soon. I already have about 50 of their offspring in the pond from last summer. None of the Koi made it through the winter, but I didn't lose a single goldfish. The original pair are red and white Sarasa Comets, and their offspring are red, red and white, gold, white and red, white, and red and black. And I think there's one solid black, but it's hard to see.

Greetings to Everyone! I hope all of you are well and safe.

Heidi, so glad you got the mowing done. With luck, you won't need to do it again for a couple of weeks, unless growth takes off because of excellent weather conditions. No doubt, the rain & thunderstorms will encourage growth. I sure wish we could get some of that! (The village planted a new tree in the parkway between the sidewalk and the street. We were given some options, so we listed our top 3 choices of those provided. Unfortunately, we don't know which one they planted. I wonder if they could tell us if we called the village.

Heidi, I hope you're feeling better and the nausea has passed! It was a good plan to try to get the chores done early!

I'm sorry to hear that your Koi didn't survive the winter. On the other hand, your goldfish seem to be doing exceptionally well! Is the pond big enough to support a population explosion of goldfish?

For those who are interested and/or have asked, I'm doing quite well. The cellulitis on my legs (mostly the left) was basically cleared up when I left the hospital. I only went to rehab because the doctor wanted me to get another 5 days of IV antibiotic. Unfortunately, rehab wanted to keep me until the broken bone in my foot was healed, and I had to fight to get home. The only reason I accepted going to rehab was to continue the antibiotic. When I went to the podiatrist/orthopedist last Monday, for the first time they did an X-ray while I was standing. The gap between the ends of the bone has increased from just under 5 mm to just over 6 mm. Because the gap is increasing instead of remaining stable, he feels it would be best to attach a plate with screws, so I'll be having outpatient surgery on May 12. (He's currently on a mission trip to Africa.) There was another break nearer the front of my foot (also on the 5th metatarsal) that he couldn't tell if it was from previously or the same time as the break we've been watching. He said it was better aligned, though.

Another rainy day. No thunderstorm, though.

It should be really nice on Saturday for the Kentucky Derby. The heavy favorite is a handsome gray colt named Essential Quality. He has a phenomenal pedigree and is undefeated. His first win was at Churchill Downs, so he likes the track.

Nice, exciting Kentucky Oaks race. Undefeated favorite Malathaat won in an exciting stretch run. The weather was flawless and thanks to the light rain yesterday to pack down the track, it was a fst track, whick helps favorites, That's why I think heavy favorite Essential Quality should win tomorrow, of he isn't disqualified because of his owner.

The latest news is that the racing commission will not disqualify Essential Quality.
https://www.cnn.com/2021/04/30/sport/sheikh-mohammed-kentucky-derby-ban-2021-spt-intl/index.html

I don't think that the horse, the trainers, and the jockey should be punished because the horse is owned by a complete scuzzball. But I think the Jockey Club and Racing Commission should sort out what their regulations actually are, and whether they need to enforce them more rigidly in the future. This horse qualified for the Kentucky Derby on his own merits, and should be allowed to run in every race he qualified for.

Heidi, were you able to see the Kentucky Oaks race in person? How about the Kentucky Derby? I have read a bit about Essential Quality and how rare it is for a gray horse to win. I also followed your link to read about the attempt to disqualify the horse from running. I can understand the concern about the missing daughter, but also understand that the horse, trainers, and jockey have nothing to do with that.

Your pond is a pretty good size to support all of those goldfish, Heidi. Of course, they can't continue reproducing year after year without eventually overcrowding, I would think.

CynB, how is Col doing after his injection? I hope you're both relaxing this weekend.

DOrA, do you and the hound have a lot of work to be done during the spring? I hope you have some time to enjoy the milder weather!

Midge, when will you need to have the teeth extractions to get a partial? I hope the dentists didn't scare you off! I also hope you can find a more reasonably priced quote o have the water damage and reseal on your caravan.

Amazing Kentucky Derby! The Bob Baffert trained 12-1 long shot Medina Spirit won wire-tio-wire in a fast paced race. This was Baffert's 7th Kentucky Derby win, a record. Second was Mandaloun, third was Hot Rod Charlie and fourth was the favorite Essential Quality. The four of them were tightly bunched at the finish.

I watched the Oaks and most of the Derby Day races, including the Kentucky Derby, on TV, The races leading up to the Derby ware some of the best I've seen. The race right before the Derby finished in a dead heat. Those are extermely rare, especially for a Grade 1 Stakes!

Wasn't able to mow the lawn today. It rained last night and this morning, and soaked everything. My lawn has to be mowed at least once a week, the grass grows so fast. It's well fertilized by the dogs.

I just looked at the weather forecast. We're due for thunderstorms tonight and tomorrow. I probably won't be able to mow until Thursday because the ground will be too wet for traction, and the grass so wet that it'll clump under the mower deck.
