Julie - best wishes that your brother's surgery is successful! Fingers crossed.
DorA - my eyesight isn't up to much when reading but it's still good enough to avoid people I don't want to talk to.
Heidi - Happy Halloween to you.
We don't participate any more but I heard so many kids happily walking through the streets.

Excellent BOPP, DOrA! Thanks for sharing it!
Another great one! Perfect TOPP, DOrA!
Happy Halloween, Everyone! Special Halloween wishes to Heidi for helping get us in the spirit.
CynB, thank you for the wishes for my brother!
Last year I think we had a couple of trick-or-treaters. This year we probably had 30 or 40. Of course, some of the neighborhood 'children' have grown up and aren't interested, but it was nice to see some of the little ones who are just getting started learning the ins and outs of trick-or-treating. We even had a 6-week old puppy (part of the adult male's costume in a front-pack with a stuffed toy or two). It was so calm I had to look a couple of times to be sure it was real. We didn't have any appropriate treats for that one.
Thinking of Everyone and sending special Halloween {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, healing energy, prayers, positive thoughts, and
for each of you. Be safe and stay well!

It's been years since I've even seen a Trick-or-Treater, sadly.
Cool day today. Definirtely heavy sweater weather.
We have a cow (Mike's) and a heifer (mine) with Pink-Eye. I'll be rounding then up today and penning them, and when Mike gets off work after 5:30, we'll be working them. I'm going to try to sort out as many of the un0needed cattle as I can before he gets here.

This is bad!
Two brooms were hanging in the closet and after a while they got to
know each other so well, they decided to get married.
One broom was, of course, the bride broom, the other the groom broom.
The bride broom looked very beautiful in her white dress. The groom
broom was handsome and suave in his tuxedo. The wedding was lovely.
After the wedding, at the wedding dinner, the bride-broom leaned over
and said to the groom-broom, 'I think I am going to have a little
whisk broom!'
'IMPOSSIBLE !' said the groom broom.
Are you ready for this?
Brace yourself; this is going to hurt !!

Didn't see that coming, DOrA.
We've got our first freeze warning of the season for tonight. The temperatures have sure dropped fast.
I got the heifer and the young cow sorted out before Mike arrived, so it went quick and easy for him. My heifer had a mild cse of Pink-Eye but his young cow had a bad case in one eye, requiring a bit of surgery. Fortunately, I had the right equipment (and muscle) for holding her head still while he stitched.

Today I've been digging post holes through limestone rock to replace a gate post that broke off. It was set in concrete so I'm having to move the end of the fence a bit to reposition the new post. That requires 3 post holes to be dug. I'm on the second hole right now, and it's a nasty. I've got it down 18 inches after 3 hours of work. I'm taking a break to rest my poor back.

Mike showed up as I was going back out after my break, and finished that nasty rock filled post hole. We got the post set, the fence attached correctly and a new gate quick latch installed.(We decided to use a metal post in the middle instead of digging another hole through limestone.) The gate opening is now better than it was before. There was originally a nice functional gate there, but when I was laid up after my hysterectomy, my idiot husband drove his tractor into that gate and section of fence and tore it out. So he and a neighbor ''fixed'' it, and did an ugly and flimsy job. They had also apparently installed a bad post, because it completely rotted through and caused this failure. NOW it's fixed right. Once I finished that job, I dug another post hole next to the water tank in the alpaca/ cattle weaning runs. I had temporarily used a metal ''T'' post, and tied the cattle panel to it, but the bulls decided to push it over.
So I needed to install a wooden post.
I am now exhausted, and am going to bed early.

Heidi, you obviously are not afraid to work and know how to get things done properly. Your back must be complaining loudly. It was a good idea to get to bed early.
I should have done the same after being up much of the night with a sick hubby. It's not early, but I'm about to head to bed.

I went to the feed store today, and when I got home I discovered that there had been a dog fight. Ruby was badly injured, so I rushed her to the Vet Clinic. Her main injury was so severe that we had to euthanize her. Ruby was beautiful, a sable and white Smooth Collie, but had an unpleasant disposition. She was a biter. She bit every visitor, and even bit me a few times. I suspect that she started it when somebody brushed against her.

Wow, four days without wifi!! Was not fun. I used my phone 5G and hot-spotted my iPad but there were things I never got to and Sudoku was one.
Julie, I hope your hubby is feeling better now and that you are catching up on sleep.
Heidi, sorry to hear about Ruby.
DorA, good one about the brooms.
My oldest grandie and only grandson Lachlan was 23 on Tuesday. Unbelievable.
Next week Emily, 3rd granddaughter, will be 20. Time flies.

Tomorrow I'm going to the Alpaca and Llama Show at the North American International Livestock Exposition. I'm leaving at 6:30 in the morning. I hope to find a buyer for my alpaca fleeces there. They're already loaded in the back of my truck.

I had a great, but long day at the NAILE. I especially enjoyed the Alpaca and Llama Performance classes, which are basically taking them over obstical courses. Most of them throw tantrums over at least one obstical. They didn't have as many entries as previous years, and no Fleece judging (probably due to the COVID), but I got a lead as to where to sell my fleeces.

Just a quick hello and hope everyone is going well, haven't read the last month's entries. Been in hospital for the past month for spinal fusion of 3 discs . Spine collapsed suddenly but had been painful for a long time. Back at the apartment - unfortunately it looks like our home will take more than 6 months to repair the fire damage. It all seems to happen together.
Best wishes to all.

Midge, sorry to hear about your spinal problems. Hope the op has eased the pain. Like Heidi said, you surely need some good luck for a change!!
And that's annoying that the house is taking so long to get fixed after the fire.
My niece had a similar problem, her house had 3 stories, built into a hill and she went away for a few weeks. While she was gone a pipe in the bathroom on the top floor burst sending torrents of water flowing through the floors of the house constantly for the full week she was gone. She had antique furniture that was ruined, photographs that were destroyed, clothes and other possessions that were past recovering. That was last November. The house was months in repair, I think it was July/August this year before she got it back and then sold it immediately. Just couldn't face the thought of ever living there again.

Thank you to all who served and to those who supported and continue to support them...

We call it Remembrance Day here in Australia but it still has the same purpose as Veterans Day.
It's when we remember those who sacrificed their youth and often their lives so that we may enjoy the life and freedom we have these days.
We have a minute's silence at 11am on 11/11 and most people stop to observe and remember at that time. I always try to, I have stopped in stores, at work, in school when I was young and at home, but yesterday was different. Colin had an appointment with his opthalmologist and I was driving through the busy city CBD at that very moment. Having to concentrate on traffic everywhere, traffic lights, buses coming out of nowhere and the fact that there was nowhere to stop even for a minute, meant that I drove along trying to do both. I had the radio on, so we observed their silence and heard the last post.

A doctor that had been seeing an 80-year-old woman for most of her life finally retired. At her next checkup, the new doctor told her to bring a list of all the medicines that had been prescribed for her. As the doctor was looking them over his eyes grew wide as he realized Grandma had a prescription for birth control pills.
'Mrs. Smith, do you realize these are birth control pills?'
'Yes, they help me sleep at night.'
'Mrs. Smith, I assure you there is absolutely nothing in these that could possibly help you sleep!'
She reached out and patted the young doctor's knee and said, 'Yes, dear, I know that. But every morning, I grind one up and mix it in the glass of orange juice that my 16-year-old Granddaughter drinks. And believe me it definitely helps me sleep at night.'
You gotta love Grandmas!

I'm off to a baby shower. Remember that amazing wedding I went to in June? They're going to have a baby. It turns out that they discovered that they were expecting a couple of days before the wedding, and kept it quiet. They already know that it's a boy. I bought a pair of newborn to 6 months old fleece lined moccasins as a baby shower present. Gotta keep those little feet toasty warm.

Heidi, I just checked on FB, Julie posted something on 11/11, so that's only a few days. Hopefully she is just busy.
We have been having some wild weather here in Australia. High damaging winds, lots of rain and flooding, tornadoes in a country that seldom has them, And lots of damage. In other areas, they are gasping for rain to fill their dams and water their crops.
Here in Queensland, Covid-wise, we are free from masks since last week - for how long I don't know. As the nation moves towards 80-90% vax rate, borders are opening in time for Christmas, and we have been warned to expect cases again. As the hordes from the south rush in for their holidays in the sun, I'll be sticking close to home. My family is fully vaccinated so I have my fingers crossed for a covid free Christmas.

Emily is 20 today. I only have one teenage grandchild now, Chloe, who will be 16 in a month. All 5 of them have partners and seem happy, for now. There's still the occasional broken heart.
But it's a treat to see what wonderful human beings they have grown into. I'm very proud of them all. I wanted them to stay babies but I have found that it is wonderful having adult conversations with them and realising they are intelligent, caring and funny. I love a good sense of humour. It's important to be able to laugh at the quirky world around us.

I ran some errands today: pharmacy, feed store, and dropped some food off for Robert. While I was there, he had an epileptic seizure. I knew he had epilepsy, but this was the first time I'd seen one of his seizures. He told me he'd been having a lot of them lately. I'm worried, since I know he's on medication.
