Good TOPP Heidi, and too true!
Glad to see you back Julie!
Don't know when we'll get our boosters. They are concentrating on getting vaccinations up to 80-90% Australia wide. I think it will be early next year, there is hardly a mention of it.

They strongly recommend boosters 6 months after the second shot to all people who are immunocompromised. With my ear infection that no longer responds to antibiotics, and continually leaks blood and pus, I consider myself to be somewhat immunocompromised. My booster appointment is in 2 hours.

It is presently 30˚F / -1.1˚C. I'm glad I decided to turn on the heat lamp over the waterer in the chicken barn last night.

I've had my booster now. I feel a lot more protected, especially since I accepted an invitation to go to a Christmas Concert at Renfro Valley on Dec 9th. The singer is Josh Turner. I'm not a big fan, but it's more for the company of good friends.

With the first 2 COVID shots, I had no side effects except for a little soreness in the arm. This time I've got a headache and sore throat. Maybe that means It's building up a better immunity in my body? More of a reaction. I hope so.

It will be 6 months since I had my second Covid shot at the end of December. I will ring my Doctor to see of there are plans or booking times available after then.

I received my first Christmas card this week, from an elderly Aunt of my first husband. It made me so sad. It read:
Hi Folks
Still here at 97
Too long
Last year I hope
Good days
Good memories
Love (her name)
Bye
She has outlived her husband, her siblings, her son. She has a nephew (my ex) and a niece, both live here in Qld.
She lives more than 1000kms away in a state whose borders no-one can cross due to Covid.
She lived independently until 2 years ago when a fall resulted in her being put into care. She hates it!
She was so full of life before then . She even used to drive up to Qld for a holiday until 10-15 years ago.
We kept in touch even though my ex and I divorced in 1978.
Lovely woman, I wish I could see her one more time.

On our afternoon stroll, the hound and I, two days in a row, saw a porcupine. Fortunately, two days in a row, the hound paid attention when I told him to ''leave it''. Good dog!!!!

I slept almost all day today, waking only to take meds and drink fluids. And do bare-bones feeding. It feels like my bronchial tubes are affected. Hopefully, I'll start seeing improvement tomorrow.

Looks like your booster is really going to help battle off Covid Heidi but wish it could help your ear infection.
Your card CynB is so sad, I hope she is getting lots of attention and love where she is living.
My dear friend in Diddilibah passed last week - I last saw her for her 90th birthday and we were going to catch up as soon as lockdown is over - she was 94 - tomorrow is not promised. she was the last of my parents' generation who we called 'family'.
I am recovering from the surgery albeit slowly. Now mainly off the mothers little helpers and coping ok. Still cannot bend or twist, my back reminds me not to.
We are moving from the apartment on Friday to a rental house about 30 mins drive away. Not looking forward to the move as it will mean setting up beds and kitchen again and we are having sunshine this week with forecast of rain on Friday - typical.
Looking forward to be able to drive again so I can get to see my cousin who is not faring well. Her oncologist told her she was surprised she is still here 4 years after remission and to keep on doing what she is as it is obviously working!!!
Take care everyone.

I found out that the reason Robert is having so many epileptic seizures right now is that his doctor decided to take him off one of his epilepsy meds, telling him he no longer needed it. He's having several seizures a day now, and he can't get hold of the doctor. They have one of those awful automated systems that don't let you talk to anyone. I told him that I'm going to drive him to the Doctor's office today so he can talk to a human or two, and let them know how bad it is. Then they can put him back on the meds he needs.

What useless excuses for Doctors! Poor Robert should not have to deal with this and the Doctor should be contactable at all times!
Midge, my Dad grew up near Diddlibah, he told a lot of stories about the area but he would have been 12 years older than your dear friend.
This Aunt of my ex and Col's step-father now 93 are the last of that generation for me. Col's StepDad is not in a good way either, he's in hospital and we can't see him because we didn't get our Flu needles this year. Meant to, but forgot. Spoke to him on FaceTime last week which was nice. He's at the start of dementia but knew us immediately.

Heidi, I hope you're feeling better!

I'm also glad you figured out why Robert is having more seizures. What kind of doctor makes a major medication change, then becomes inaccessible in case the patient needs an adjustment in the dosage?

Midge, I hope your recovery after the spinal fusion is going well and the upcoming move will not affect things negatively. Good luck as you move into the next interim location as you wait for repairs to your home. I hope all goes well in the coming months! It's good to read your post again!

CynB, it's so sad that your ex's aunt is feeling so lonely and discouraged. I hope she gets a lot of positive mail during the holidays!

Thinking of Everyone and sending , healing energy, positive thoughts, {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, and prayers. Stay healthy as we head into the holiday season!

What an awful time for Robert - my cousin's son in Perth is an epileptic and similar occurrence happened to him. Unfortunately his seizures became so often and severely he has brain damage and is virtually a walking vegetable at 47yrs old. Good on you for going direct - they will have to do something for him.
CynB - Esme was living in a CWA flat after her partner passed. Just loved the beach.

Instead of having me drive him to his doctor's office (a half hour each way), Robert tried calling his doctor again and got a human, finally. But a very uncaring human. The person told him that the only way that they'll give him another prescription for epilepsy meds is if he comes in and sees the doctor in person. but the doctor doesn't have an opening for him for at least another week! Meanwhile, he keeps seizuring. He's decided to look for another doctor.

That is disgusting Heidi - that Dr should be reported. Maybe his receptionist is a bit dull and doesn't use her brains to work out the serious needs.
Heidi - the pain I had before has gon0e but replaced by a different pain. Feels like someone has kicked me up the butt all of the time. Hopefully this will go away with time. I have got myself down to one slow release pain med in the morning and wear a heat belt most of the day. So much better than before - I would have topped myself if nothing could be done, I couldn't even breathe without stabbing pain or even stand up.
CynB - my friend was born in the hills near where I live and was in a place called Seville until the mid 60's. She had a cafe on Phillip Island for a long time before moving to Portland, Hervey Bay, Eumundi for abut 25 years and finally Didilabah. Her husband and my father were in the RAAF during WW11. They were our adopted family. Now I am at the top of the tree ........

Heidi, thanks for that.
It is a similar story here in Australia and probably many other countries that the British or other Europeans 'settled' in without making any consideration that there were already indigenous people living there. They just took their lands and killed those who tried to stop them.
We grew up learning about the mighty British Empire/Commonwealth and how many lands were part of that empire. We just weren't taught that they were stolen lands.
Our indigenous people feel the same way about Australia Day (January 26). I believe we need great politicians/statesmen to come up with a solution that would satisfy both our indigenous people and present day Australians that were born here and love our country.

Heidi, I'm glad your cold is improving somewhat! I hope you'll continue to improve over the weekend! Here's hoping Robert will also see some improvement soon!

Wow, nobody here for a few days. I hope Heidi's cold didn't get worse.
I have been putting up my Christmas decorations and trees. Still have to do one tree today and then I'm done. I thought this year I'd pare down the decorations but the only concession I have made to that is I haven't put up as many lights mainly because I need tall people to help me. It still may happen.
But the rest is done, It's 30th November here. My goal is always to be ready by 1st December and I will be.
Getting my eyes tested this afternoon. I was told last time that there was a cataract starting in one eye. Bit worried that it may have progressed.

Hi Julie, busy as usual. You must be like my sister, she never stops.
I went to the optometrist, My vision is fairly stable so I did not get new glasses, happy with the ones I've got. My Cataract is progressing but not bad enough to be operated on yet. I go back in a year.

Col has made the decision, based on the Independent Opthalmologist's Report not to pursue further treatment on his eye. After almost 4 years, 8 operations, and countless other procedures, he still only has 1% vision in his right eye. He has been declared 24% permanently incapacitated. It not the best outcome but one that he's been expecting for a few years since each new procedure failed to produce results. It seems the back of his eye was damaged too badly to ever mend. We are grateful to all the medical staff involved in trying to regain the sight in that eye.
It is what it is!

Each day I'm feeling a little better.

We had a little excitement yesterday. We've got 3 bull's of Mike's in the 3 acre pasture behind the horse barn. Yesterday, the largest of the 3 vanished. We assumed he has somehow jumped a fence and gotten in with the cow herd that's presently in the pasture and woods behind that 2 acre field, since he's been lingering along that fenceline watching the cows. We finally found him next door, in with about 30 open heifers. We have no idea how he got in there, unless he sprouted wings. Mike could find no damage to the fence. But we were able to lure him back home with a bucket of feed, and the bulla are now locked in the far more secure weaning pen. I wasn't going to put the big bull back in the same pasture since he now knows how to escape from it. Mike had been planning on sending him to another farm for breeding use on the 11th, and he can stay where he is until then. They have a 300 gallon water tank, a shelter, and a large roll of hay. And I'll feed them their grain every day. They'll be fine, though with only a quarter acre of space.

I had a scare this evening. At dusk, I lock the chickens in for the night, then feed canned cat food to all the cats. I stepped into the feed room of the horse barn to feed the cats and encountered a skunk waiting with the cats!!!! It was full grown, but had no lingering aroma, so it had never sprayed anybody before. I quickly retreated and waited for it to leave before feeding the cats. I don't know what I'm gonna do about it. Probably set another trap to catch this guy. I was only 3 feet from it when I met it this evening, and am VERY lucky it didn't spray me.
