Hawk was a special horse. And way too young to have passed away. I think he was about 17. Buddy was 31 when I lost him in January.

Yeah, Heidi. Seems most folks, especially, in the major cities prefer to continue with the status quo (crime, drugs, etc.) than vote for change...

Our temperatures here have been unseasonably warm... highs in mid-70's and lows in the low 60's. A cold front is moving in today and they're now calling for SNOW tomorrow morning!!! I'm in shock.

He's adorable, but tiny. Our temperatures have dropped below freezing, so he has to wear a warm coat to stay warm. His body can't regulate his temperature enough yet.

Thinking about 'livestock'

A Tour Group

Groups of Americans were traveling by tour bus through Holland. As they stopped at a cheese farm, a young guide led them through the process of cheese making, explaining that goat's milk was used. She showed the group a lovely hillside where many goats were grazing. 'These' she explained, 'Are the older goats, put out to pasture when they no longer produce.' She then asked, 'What do you do in America with your old goats?' A spry old gentleman answered, 'They send us on bus tours!

Good news about your new cria, Heidi! Nice to hear of a new birth after some sad losses in recent weeks.
DorA, love the joke about the bus tours, but it brought to mind that since restrictions were lifted, old people in droves are going on cruise ships and contracting Covid. We had one dock in Sydney the other day with 800 Covid cases. Ships are just petri dishes for disease. Even before Covid, Col and I went on a cruise and he arrived back with Influenza A. I was lucky that time.

Sorry about Hawk and glad you finally have another male cria Heidi.
Been stuck upstairs in bed for a few weeks. Did something absolutely stupid - stood on the toilet rim to hang a pot plant from the ceiling - tore tendons and badly bruised one ankle and did the same to the other leg but in the knee. Off crutches but now walking very gingerly with a walking stick. Won't do that again.
Went away for the weekend with my brother and sister and their partners - brother really wanted to go to Echuca one last time - because of the floods there were millions of mozzies.
Daughter was supposed to be in charge of collectors doing covid testing of cruise ships enterng Melbourne and Adelaide but the plan was scrapped - worked out to be 166 hours of work for 800 passengers. And that was only to verify the number of cases.
Hope everyone is going o.k.

Remind me to stay away from cruise ships!!!

Actually, I've never had any interest in sailing on one. I prefer quiet seclusion to being crammed in with a large number of people.

Benny (''Surreal Farn Belafonte'', the new cria) is doing really well. He looks so cute in his warm winter coat.

Finally! I got back in. Somehow I must have signed myself out one night when I fell asleep at the computer. Then, I couldn't remember my password to get back in.

Sending positive thoughts, healing energy, {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, and prayers for all. And now, I'm headed to bed. Good Night, All!

Can you believe this?
Col will be having another surgery soon!!
Since his heart surgery, he has developed severe pain in the calf of his left leg. After several scans, it turns out that he has stenosis in the femoral and iliac arteries in his left leg. He is seeing a surgeon on Monday. Not sure what the process is, someone mentioned stents but it seems that removal and replacement of those sections of the artery is also a possibility.
Nothing like as bad as his cancer and heart failure diagnoses, but I feel sorry for him. Just one thing after another!
Will know more after Monday.
Meanwhile I am in the process of getting my Christmas decorations up. A bit earlier than usual but I have a visitor from South Africa coming over for lunch on Sunday. Wanted to have them up by then.
Love and hugs to all, hope you are all feeling well and happy

Sorry to hear about Col but if he has stents, he will be up and running with pain gone. I had 5 put in iliac and artery left leg about 6 years ago and very successful.
I think we are like cars, replace one part and another goes awry.
Your alpacas are gorgeous Heidi - also love knitting in alpaca wool. Knitting a vest for golf for my d's partner.

Happy Thanksgiving to Heidi, DorA and Julie.
Enjoy your time with your brother DorA.
And Heidi, you're never alone when you have animals, especially dogs.
Julie, I hope you'll be with family, I suspect this will be a sad one for you.

Not fun. I went to preheat the oven to put my chicken in to roast and my oven is broken. So the chicken went back in the freezer. I'll figure out something else to make that doesn't require the oven.

Oh no, Heidi! That's not good, on thanksgiving!
Have you got an Air Fryer? I was always skeptical until I got one recently by redeeming some points on a supermarket scheme. We use it a lot. It's only a small one but cooks a whole chicken AND is easy to clean.

We're going to be working the cattle on Saturday, Dec. 3rd. That's primarily preg checking cows and weaning calves. Plus, there are 3 crazy heifers of the neighbor's that jumped the fence and are in with our herd. We're hoping to catch them and lock them in a horse stall until the neighbor can pick them up. He asked us to hold them for pick up instead of driving then back thru' a gate. I suspect he wants to sell them. I will also be selling my oldest cow. She wasn't able to raise her calf on her own this year and had to be penned up and the 2 of them given a lot of supplemental feed.

DorA, my airfryer is a Tefal. I do have a dishwasher so I just superficially wipe off excess fat and put in the DW. So, yes, it is easy for me. I remember that without a dishwasher anything used for cooking was difficult and time-consuming to wash.

Re: DW - That's what I was afraid of. Lots of sandwiches and one pot meals to minimize clean up at DorA's place...
