Hi again Janice.Sorry if I was incorrect about the row labelling.It should start from bottom (1) to top (9). So i9 is the top right corner cell;a1 would be the bottom left corner. (It is the same as is used for a chess board,which goes from a to h and 1 to 8 for the 8x8 board.)

Hi Janice .Here is my step 2 in detail:
A. 6 can only occupy g1 or g3.
B. If g1=6,g6=1 (the only place for 1 in column g),c4=1 (only place for 1 in col.c) and a9=1 (only place for 1 in col.a).
C. The other alternative for 6: If g3=6,f6=6 (only place for 6 in col f),e9=9 and again a9=1. So a9=1 for the only two possibilities for 6 in column g.
D. This makes c4=1,and total unique possibilities has now become 28.(End of step 2).

If you follow each step term by term (like you
would follow a recipe) it should work out.
In step 3,I show that c5 becomes 3 when c7=6. So 3 is confined to either c5 or c7 in column c. So c3 cannot =3,which makes a3=3 etc.Hope this helps,Regards,Alfred.
