I signed up to Ancestry.co.uk as that is where the family is based. I didn't sign up to Ancestry.com as for a non US resident that is expensive.
I just keep going over and over the census records. The problem here has been two fold - a family split and the fact that records are sealed for one hundred years. 1901 is the latest census available.
My biggest problem is on my fathers side. He hailed from N.Ireland and was catholic. These records are not available, to my knowledge, through the Mormons(who run the Ancestry sites) and I don't see myself going there to troll through the church records. It is amazing that he was the 3rd of 12 children all but one of whom married and had children and I've not come across one of them doing any research!
