Whew! Had the winter holiday program reheasals (where the classes of children get to see each other perform. The first grade class had a song of friends and at a certain time the little ones raised the letters for FRIENDS. Unfortunately the child with the R forgot at one point to raise her letter. I tried so hard not to laugh!

My third graders played Jingle Bells on their recorders. It would have been great if one group didn't race through their performance and were about a measure ahead of the other group!

I was really looking forward to the Geminid Meteor shower tonight, it would be especially visible with no moon in the sky.
So it has been pouring down rain for the last 6 hours.

Shosho - we missed you yesterday. You would have put it at a 1000 for sure. Yes it was a record.

Maybe the spelling was correct with the "R" missing.

Not necessarily, during a port of call in San Juan, some of us cornered a bottle of Ron Rico 151 and discovered stars the navigator had never heard of.

Jane and Rayray: We should have a poetry slam with you two and see who comes out the winner! I used to write poetry but am too "sheepish" now to let the world see. We need a little happy face sheep guy.
Took the 9-yr-old's GS troop to a nursing home place tonight for Christmas caroling. They did a good job! So earnest in their singing, and the high notes come easily to the little girls! (I'd add some little music notes but I forgot which keys to press....)
Lindy: I have always been upset at all the Christmas stuff in stores before Thanksgiving, which is around my birthday. But I actually buy Christmas gifts year round - if I see a good bargain I grab it!
Andre: so glad to hear about the new fridge - although I wasn't around for the death of the old one, it sounds as if it was a big event around here! The only thing I like about winter is that when I bring in beer from the garage it is better than it is out of the fridge!

Hmm, think I'll go out and buy a hoola-hoop.

You may remember I boasted last week about finishing work for 2007 today and going on holidays - welllllll - I should have checked with the manager of the units we are going to.
Hmmmm - guess I'll still be here next week and then go on my two weeks holiday to the beach.
I knew I had cancelled 1 of the 3 weeks I'd booked. I thought it was the fist week and got hubby to check - reply was that I had cancelled the 3rd week. Checked again yesterday to find that I had in actual fact cancelled the first week. All I can say is that I am glad I haven't packed yet.

We had a minor catastrophie in Brisbane this morning. One of the water mains blew and caused a crater on one of the MAJOR roads into the city. A lot of the traffic from north and west of the city was affected. It took me one and a half hours for my usual 35 min trip.
All the traffic was funnelled into the city and back out again. What a nightmare!!!
The road may be opened again tomorrow (who cares - it's Saturday) but the trip home looks like being a repeat of the trip in.
I wish I had caught the train.

Shosho - I have that song on a Spike Jones Christmas LP. It is funny. some of the other songs on the album are: The Angel in the Christmas Play & All I want for Christmas is my two Front Teeth. (As a kid I sang that song for 2 Christmases- it took a long time for those teeth to grow in.)

That reminds me of when I gave my nephew (when he was in his late 20's) some black 'Rock Candy' in a little bag with a tag saying Coal for his Santa's Sock. That is what he really deserved.

Eve, I've got two candidates for that song this year. Little Lorenzo happily showed me one front upper tooth missing one day and the following day he grinned and there were two vacant spots! Samantha has one empty spot but a wiggly tooth next to it. She loves playing with that tooth!

I wish I could write away like Rayray and Jane, but at the moment, I am frantically filling out forms, making lesson plans, correcting a gazillion student papers, counseling beginning teachers. Somehow nothing poetic comes to mind. I can laboriously pontificate teaching techniques but poetically? Nah!

About to head for bed - very early I know, but the 2 hours I got this morning after a very busy night shift somehow wasn't enough!! Of course, it would help if I cancelled social engagements that are on when I should be sleeping but I never want to miss out on anything so am always pushing the envelope. As a bonus, a really bad toothache has plagued me for the last few days, reaching crisis point overnight. Managed to get an appointment at the dentist this afternoon (at 3pm not toothurty!) - I had a gum abscess!! On antibiotics now, and have taken some heavy pain relief, so I'm hoping I will sleep very well, and wake up all better!! So I'll see you all tomorrow!!
