I see the party is still going on - thanks for the treats - getting ready to go bowling this morning - then off to work - but today is the holiday meal. Watching Pirates of the Caribbean - At world's end - as I tidy the house up -- but I do wish those Elves could drop in to help me. Enjoy your day. Mary

THE SHEEP SWEEP

Yesterday the sheep were drowned -
by posts that came galore,
Sighing baas were all around,
so I had to bolt the door.
The sheep might run from where they are,
and we’d all then feel bereft.
But I showed them Angie’s Avatar;
not a dry sheep-eye was left.
Despite the fact that they felt sore -
from drinking too much grog,
they baaed their carols from a score -
before a yuletide log.
Santa Clause is real to sheep
[they’re stupid as you know];
to them he sleighs through drifts so deep -
his beard’s turned white as snow.
To sheep he’s simply one of them:
he knows of dips and shears.
As much as ours, he’s their emblem,
and his presents raise their tears.
Before the yuletide log did blaze,
one fleeced the chimney clean.
When it returned; both black and dazed;
we guessed where she had been.

Rayray - loved your poem, which inspired the following:

Oh Rayray, wish your sheep were here
To fleece our chimney clean
We paid a "sweeper" mucho bucks
Our wallet now is lean

Perhaps next year (if we're still here)
You'll send a lamb this way
We'll treat him right, we'll feed him well
We'll even give him hay

Then when the winter comes around
We'll run him up the flue
And when the chimney's sparkling clean
The lamb we'll barbecue

The final post of yesterday was from "Jim".
To continue in his vein:

Where ‘ere ye be -
let you wind go free.
In church or chapel -
let it rattle.
In house or home -
let it roam

MizTricia: No problem. My sheep have been well-trained for the very contingent emergency of Jane accessing my sheep. They will eat her alive within seconds of her entering their fold.
Their carvivorous trait is normally latent - but when they upset - watch out!
