MizT.... amazing story about Al's childhood with those future legends! Wow. He needs to get those memories down on paper. Joy would treasure having a written record of her father's experiences back then.

Morning all.

Getting a late and tired start today. I haven't been sleeping all that well because of my shoulder/arm/wrist. I still haven't heard from the doctor. I have been feeling kind of dizzy or light-headed the last few days -- now what???

Cyn - {HUGS}}

Off to get some stuff done, or at least think about getting some stuff done. Hope to be back later.

Tomorrow evening I am taking the oldest grandie out for supper. Her sister is going to a party for one of her classmates. The last two days the oldest one has been acting up again. I am hoping if we go out she might open up to me.

Heidi, her sister gets invited to a lot more parties than she does. Plus she gets upset when her mom isn't there. She might just need some one-on-one time with an adult, so I'll try to be one tomorrow (tee hee). Seriously though, her mom's stay in the hospital seems to have triggered it. I'll try and make her feel special while her sister is at the party tomorrow evening.

The albino Budgie loves her new nest box. She's already taken up residence and has laid her first egg. This Budgie sure knows what she wants, and gets it done fast!

I had a nap and feel much better as far as the dizziness goes. I figured out what was causing it. I forgot to take one of my medications for a few days. My bad!

Theresa - what a nice idea to take your grandie out and make her feel special. Sensitive kids can be jolted and scared by a parent's illness and/or hospitalisation. Oh, and remember your medication, young lady, you don't want to be nagged in unison by SA, do you?
Broni - hope that hosework doesn't take too long. Have a rest, put your feet up, you've had a busy week.
Suzy - I hope Dana can get the best care for herself and the baby - after all it is the baby that must be considered now. How long to go now?

Hi all. trying to figure out what to make for dinner. Take-out is becoming the first choice. Came home, turned off car. Went to restart it and it would not. Friend jumped the car for me and went straight to mechanic. He kept starting the car. We called hubby and he was telling hubby car will start but he would like to have it for a few hours to run some tests and find out what is wrong. While he is talking to hubby, I go to start car. Car would not start. Mechanic laughed and put in a new battery. I am convinced my car does not like me. I have to go back in a day or two and pay for battery. Mechanic needs to find out value of mine as it is still under warranty. He wanted to go home for dinner. He said he knows where to find me and is not worried about his money.

I have my hubby here until 9am - he had to take a long load nearby and the rest of his load has to go to the North Coast (still a long load) but you can't take a long load on the roads during peak hours so he just had enough time after his first drop to get here by 7am, now he can't leave till 9. And I have a huge, long, loaded semi-trailer across my driveway.

Tami - there's nothing worse than something going wrong with your car, especially if you're like me and have no idea mechanically. I hope that an end to it now and it starts first time, every time.

Theresa, *wags finger sternly* take your meds!

I just hate going to the mechanic and have the car behave perfectly, and the mechanic look at you as if you are a mad, silly woman! I swear the car was making this noise...and now it's not...
Or when they start telling you it's a broken flange nut in your wangdanger...yeah right, I may not be a mechanic, but I aint no idiot either!

Just using up the last of our paid allowance. Got a bit upset when I looked at the parents page. Will catch up properly when we get home. Glancing though it was nice to see Al's medicatons seem to be making him feel better.
Hugs to you all.

Greeting friends. It has been a long day for me, I never got a nap till 7 PM, but that lovely 2 hour nap was wonderful! Need you'll to wish me up a good night's sleep here in a bit. Gotta have my sleep so I can function.

Had a long talk with hubby, while BILs partner cooked our dinner. He came down to bring BIL some clean clothes and his meds so he can stay longer.

Actually today I did not make my lunch or my dinner, I was pampered.

Warning: Graphic narrative follows, You may skip on by if you choose.
Al told me today "the swelling (the growing cancer tumors) is making it harder and harder to breathe". I told him yes, the oncology nurse told me that was one of the ways the cancer could progress to the end. Al asked if there was anything the doctors could do. I had to tell him, no, there was nothing more they could do. I put this day up there just above the day I had to answer my Mom when she asked, " Am I dying".

I told him he could fight as long as he wanted, but when it became to hard, he could just give up, and that there was medicine we could give that would help keep him comfortable and unaware of what was happening.

I am so thankful for someone in my past who was terminally ill and taught me how to talk about death and dying, even how to laugh at times. Al gave me a big grin today when I said with what he has to face in the near future, he might come to hate me for waking him last Sunday night when his respiration went down to 2 breaths a minute (medication reaction).

If you made it this farm thank you for reading.

Happy Anniversary to the mother and father of our trouble maker.

Rolanda, joy your trip, hope you have great weather, good food, and the company of treasured friends.

Nighty night Suzanne. Hope your house is sold soon.

Heidi, so many new baby birds here in the fall. I hope the new ones do just great.

Today Al and I listened to more of his music that's on his computer. He has software for copying music to his hard drive, and this software also has a sound board, simple, but it can really make a difference in how it works. He played with some of the recordings as we listened. Reminded me of another Al and his music tale.

He has such a fine tuned ear for music, can really appreciate high quality sound equipment, when I cannot tell the difference between a Bose and a 2 dollar transistor radio hehehe. Back in the day when we went to clubs and bars where live music was preformed, we went into a bar where the band of a friend was playing. We just did get there fore the band started, so not much alcohol was involved in this tale. The band was good, but they sounded horrible! You could only hear drums, no lead guitar and no vocal at all was coming through. Al was back there screaming at the guy on the sound board, telling him just what needed to be done to correct the problem. He could just not stand to hear a talented band sound so terrible because of a bad sound mix. I thought he was going to physically remove the guy from the sound board and take over. We almost got thrown out of that place.

Al has a friend who sang and played guitar, preformed for the Texas Opry, a large venue similar to the original Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. Friend Ed never made the big time, had to keep his day job, but did some recordings that he sold at these second tier venues when he preformed. And let me tell you, Ed preformed, played the audience, had every woman there believing he was singing those country love songs just for her hehehe. Ed send one of his recordings to Al and again he was jumping up and down. The mix was terrible, could barely hear Ed, it sounded thin and tinny. He copied the recording onto his computer, got to his sound board and edited the recording. Now even I could tell the difference once he was through.

Al does so enjoy his music, and today he picked and chose songs we all sat and enjoyed. We had Roy Orbison, who I enjoy, ZZ Top, who I will listen to, a selection of oldies but goodies from the 50's and 60's. Did I tell you, this earlier popular music , probably 40's to 80's, he can listen to the song, tell you the name of song and singer, and the year it was recorder, who else recorded it, and the year they did???

I am so glad Joy was able to bring his computer with all his music and photos in here and connect to the TV as monitor, with the wireless keyboard and mouse, so he can lie in his recliner and enjoy.

Heidi, yes, he has a do not resusitate order signed and filed with Hospice. He has filled out an advanced directive, they have a copy of that also. He also has given me his medical power of attorney, so that when he can no longer make decisions, I can make them for him. The Hospice social worker is getting a general Power of attorney notarized and back to me, she forgot her notary seal the day she was out. I think he has it covered.
