I've just been told they are catering for over 200 people for Saturday! And they are only counting the locals!! Churches aren't very big in towns like these... oh well, there is the get together afterwards.

My foster uncle is arriving soon and will be staying with me. Don't want! Now that he's decided he likes men I should be safe though.

Heidi, we can talk as the date gets closer. Have to see if the finances will let me do that. I would have to fly in and it could depend on air fare. It will be fun to think about though.

Heidi, because I've been thinking about my father lately the similarities to IH struck me. They were very different too, but the bills thing in particular rang bells. Dad had to be the one to pay the bills and mow the lawn (at the least the front lawn, mum could mow the back lawn because the neighbours couldn't see) because that's what made him the MAN.

Suzy, I am pleased we can keep you company here. In a small town everyone will be there on Saturday. I just hope they all help with the catering and bring something. That is generally what happens in small towns anyway.
I have the Melbourne family coming here on Saturday and I have beds to make etc but just one of those days that I have no energy.
Tomorrow we are doing a tour of Garden Island (In the Harbour) so I really should be doing more today.
Judy, you also have a hard job. What happens to your Mum's stuff that you are taking back to your house?
Hope your back is getting better Heidi. You must take care.

Greetings friends, a very long day of pricing, putting out more things that friend Terry brought from the storage building for us. He in about 10 minutes made a quick inventory of the items, picked out the "sure sellers" and moved them into the shop so today sister and I could find places on tables for them and attach price tags. he even suggested prices for them for me. His help has been most valuable. It would have taken me hours to do what he did in minutes.

I was able to stay out and work longer today than any day so far. BIL mentioned again to sis he knew I was able to do more, after I fed them dinner, cause when they first started coming down, they brought food to me. Back still complains, sometimes more than other times, but I recover with medication. Without these meds, I would not be able to do any of this.

Signs are ready for Joy to put out, map printed and marked with locations. My nephew waged a verbal war with politicians 2 years ago after a big election. Cantidates put out those signs and never picked them up. nephew would go out on his way home from work and remove them from the right of way on the interstate. he called it "litter on a stick". our double sided signs just fit over the old political signs, and staple on. they install easily, and look so much better than those signs stapled to utility poles. Am I bragging on my signs?? yep, but I had a lot of help designing and making them, so not patting myself on the back hehehe.

OK, bored you enough. You can tell I am well medicated, I am running on at the fingers hehehe. But back is only whispering to me at the moment, that is very good.

hugs to each of you, friends, with extras to Mama and Suzy and family, and anyone else who needs them. till later.

Just popping in for a quick second...Long couple of days gninaelc and getting ffuts done after the trip to Pueblo. i saw on the national news there are wildfires in Colorado. Glad we're not still there, but feel sorry for the people who lost their homes (2 folks perished).
Had a nice distraction today, my friend Helen and I went to lunch at Applebee's. We haven't had lunch together in a LONG time. It was nice to catch up & have some "girl time".

Heidi, my grandparents fostered brothers when they were teenagers. We are the only family they have now. Not literally, but practically.

Just had to call and have them added to the service. That would have been a big oopsy.

Robert is telling me anecdotes about his life and I'm just not up to listening. I've been a poor hostess, I hope he understands.

He has gone off now to deliver some pictures to Swan Hill for me. Thank goodness I don't have to do the drive!

I had a run in with a friend of mum's in the hospital. She was stepping over us telling us what to do. She was a wonderful friend to mum and it was horrible.. Yesterday she drove to be with her family in Griffith until the funeral. She got a speeding ticket and later hit a kangaroo. Something else happened too but I can't remember what it was.

I've finally heard Alie's new song. The men's shed in Moulamein recorded it and put it on a CD. It's a brilliant recording and I can't wait to hear it through the car stereo instead of my tinny speakers.

June, mum was president of the art gallery and they do all the catering in town so they will be catering. She was also on the board of the bowling club so that is where we are holding the get together.

Sorry to hear about the run in with your Mum's friend at the hospital. You didn't need that stress.

I've got a headache that won't let me concentrate, so I'm off to bed to let the aspirin take effect. I need to be alert tomorrow because Robert and I hope to get a lot of work done. It's much easier working when IH isn't around. No distractions and interruptions.

Greetings, Friends!

Broni, wonderful news! I hope the arrangements suit you and the work is enjoyable!

Brenda, Pip looks like a cutie! I hope he will make a quick adjustment to his new home!

Heidi, I hope you will soon feel better - and am glad Robert arrived at such an opportune time. I know you want everything on your farm to be perfect for the tour, but seeing a work in progress is a more realistic picture for those on the tour to see. The plans for the Lincoln's Day parade sound like fun! So glad you found the new bull calf and got him back to his mother!

Suzy, sometimes it's easier and quicker to sort through things on your own. With more than one working, it's a temptation to stop at every item, reminisce, and then the tears start flowing. Keep a camera nearby. If you're wavering between keeping and purging, take a photo of the item and ask yourself if the photo will be enough to keep your memory strong. If it is, give yourself permission to purge (or set aside for your brother to make his own decision).

Welcome home, Judy! You're doing kind of the same thing as Suzy! Good luck!

Heidi, am I right in assuming that the Lincoln Days are just a local celebration? What wonderful news that IH will be gone for 48 hours!

Bean, it's great to have you visit!

Suzy, our love, support and {{{HUGS}}}} will be with you on Saturday! Don't worry about the "run-in" with the friend of your Mum. Those things happen, especially at times like this.

MizT, you sound ready, willing and able for the garage sale on Saturday. Hoping for beautiful warm weather and lots of shoppers with cash in hand!

I'm fading fast, so will head to bed. {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, , positive thoughts, healing vibes and prayers for everyone! Good Night!

Greetings friends, it is very early morning here. i awakened to find myself very still cause I had slept like a log, heavy and without moving for 5 hours. It was good to sleep that soundly, but the not moving let joints stiffen. I needed a sky hook to get me out of bed hehehe.

Suzy, people react differently to grief. your Mom's friend overstepped boundaries, and you were right to set limits, but perhaps now you could let it slide into the past without damaging your thoughts and feelings toward her.

OK, back to bed for me, I have another busy day ahead of me today. I must go to purchase a couple cases of soft drinks, and perhaps some more bottle water. Must keep my friendly worker bees hydrated, and will put out a coler of iced drinks for sale. I do not expect to make a lot selling drinks, it is a convenience for shoppers. Might encourage them to shop longer and buy more.

hugs to each of you, with extras, and today Mama is top of the list for thoughts and prayers, as she goes for trach surgery.

Tami.... The Parade at Lincoln Days is Saturday, October 6th. We'll be there a few hours early to walk around the town square and take Lincoln-Look-alikes hostage. We love making fun of them, anyways. Some are pretty good, but some are so bad that they bring tears to our eyes.... of laughter.

Good Maen eveyone!! Just thought I'd say hi.
TTT: Thanks for the coffee, as always.
Tricia: I got some REALLY good sleep the last couple of nights. First time in a long while. Darrell just got up. He's got a doctor's appointment (follow up on his cholesterol & blood pressure). He has been seeing a new doctor. He had a falling-out with the one we've been going to...long story. He seems to like this one and wants me to switch. Have to meet her first. That's all for now!
Love & Hugs to all with extras!!

Back from getting supplies. We got the concrete we needed, as well as the rest of the wire to finish the front fence. When we got home, we discovered the driveway blocked... by an insecticide sprayer with a flat tire. IH had arranged for them to come spray for alfalfa weevil (he said that he would pay for it since I just paid a lot more for fertilizer. Well, he hadn't paid them, so I had to. What a surprise.

Morning all,
Great news about Mamacita, sort of. Great that she is well, but not so great that she needs a ventilator.

Robert is here and talking nonstop. He sounds very un-smart, but he isn't. He just told me that he had a call from bigpond - how come you have 2 passwords, but I told him you're not from bigpond or you wouldn't be calling me. Then he changed my passwords right away. He is easy to underestimate and I have to keep reminding myself of that.

It turns out that I didn't get enough concrete after all. Robert had gotten a bit enthusiastic about digging the holes, and they're about twice as big around as they needed to be. Not a bad thing.... the fence will be stronger for it.... but I have to go back tomorrow morning for another 16 bags of concrete. We did get most of the old wire removed, as well as removing a post that was way out of place, and had been for 20 years. But we WILL have this side of the fence up in time for the tour, so the horses can be out there to greet everyone.

My Robert speaks like a disabled person and can't read very well. The reading is because until he was fostered by my grandparents nobody gave a hoot that he couldn't read. My grandfather ripped strips off the school and he has learned some. I'm not sure what happened with his speaking, but it might be something to do with extreme neglect when he was learning.

And this Robert has epilepsy so bad that he was kicked out of elementary school, since his seizures were so disruptive. He was in a bad car accident as a young man and also suffered brain damage. His entire skull is made of metal now. He has quite a few behavior problems, especially with speech. He is incapable of censoring himself and shocks a LOT of people. I know that he doesn't mean it, and is an honest and hard working person. Because of the brain damage, he's on disability.

Hurrah for your grandfather! Your Robert sure had a tough time. So many people don't realize how severe the emotional damage can be, and how lasting the damage is when kids aren't loved or treated properly.
