Gekko all.

My back is killing me and I have only one methadone left. I can get more tomorrow so I'm gonna wait a few hours before taking it.

I finished getting the fence up, but still have to take down the old fence that I'd left up for security. It's been raining here all night and morning, One of the neighbors said that we've gotten over 9 inches in the last few days. The ponds are full again but the creek still isn't running.

Theresa.... LOVE the tree story!!! That is one of the sweetest feelings... being able to put people like that in their place.

I've been slowly introducing Sere to the other horses. To my surprise, the only one I've had problems with is Challenger, my Gypsy Vanner gelding who came from the same farm! She and Whimsey are inseparable already. They look a lot alike and are gorgeous together.

MizT.... You have my utmost sympathy with the migraine. I get them regularly, too. They can take days to recover from that bruised brain feeling after the migraine itself has passed.

MizT, I was here really early so I went for a nap around lunch time. It is still hot, feels-like temp is 39C.

I have not had a real bad migraine in quite a few years, but I used to get them regularly. Today is day 4 of a nasty headache, but I think it's due to the high humidity. It starts at the top of the head and then moves to the back of the head. If I can't get rid of it, it also goes down into the back of my neck. Tylenol is about the only medicine I can take that doesn't interact with all my other meds, but at best it only dulls the pain. It has rained on and off today, and we are under a severe thunderstorm watch. Of course we are, I'm home alone!!!!

D and her family are going to Toronto for the week, leaving early Monday morning. I will be looking after their 4 cats, one rat and one fish while they are away. It's going to be quiet around here!!!!

I made a stirfry early this morning before the heat of the day started. So I just have to nuke my supper tonight. And hubby will have something to eat when he gets back from visiting his parents. I just did not want to go in the car for an hour and a half in this heat. The AC is not working in the car, it needs a new compressor at a cost of $600.00, so I don't think we'll get it fixed this year. Summer is half over already, I'm sure we can manage.

So Gail, when are you coming over to paint my place?

I have an idea ... how about a sudoku painting party at my house, BYOB (bring your own brushes)?

Hope everyone not feeling well or with relatives not feeling well are soon on the mend. Hugs to all.

Hi all. Had a busy weekend. Met my new grand nephew yesterday. He is adorable. My SIL traded cars with me for the weekend. They want to go out, all of them, and I have a van. I gave her my Mazda minivan and I am driving her Lexus. Not a bad trade. Both boys had sleepovers last night so hubby and I had a nice quiet evening alone. Today I started the driveway. Started filling in the cracks but need to get something else to fill in the holes. Will go back and get the other stuff. Dylan has a week of camp coming up so Mitchell and I will do all the work.

I have a very nice brush for doing the woodwork!

MizT, the post you thought didn't post posted...does that make any sense?

I haven't actually done any work around the house this week, with Hannah home sick I just wasn't really in the mood. But I must snap out of this malaise and get. My butt into gear again, October doth approacheth very swiftly! Today hubby is going to take the louvre door off the pantry so I can clean that up and get it painted, and then I am going to start on the kitchen cupboard doors. I will start taking them off one by one to clean, sand then paint and replace, while hubby makes up a couple of new fronts for the under-sink cupboards and drawers. Hopefully that will finish the painting in the kitchen/living room.
We have also decided on the colours for the kids end living room (3 living areas, what were they thinking!). Again, it is a longish, narrow room and we are thinking of it as sort of a theatre room so we have decided on auburgine feature walls each end with the side walls being a very light grey/purple with auburgine woodwork. Yet another striking colour combination!
The only other room I seriously want to have finished by October is the laundry, then most of the inside will be done except for a spare room and our bedroom suite. Hubby reckons we will have time, but I told him if it happens all well and good, but I am not putting it on the list as that will only cause me stress!

Finally bought a new tv today. Got a 32 inch flat screen. We went to look and found an open-box tv on clearance. It was originally $229 but was on clearance for $150. Salesguy plugged it in and it played great. Got the manager to take another $25 off for the few scratches (did bother us). We also bought the 4 year extended warranty. We are really happy. We needed a tv and was waiting for a good sale. I don't think we could do any better than what we did.

Hannah is all better thankfully, and even though she slept in and is running late, she is getting ready to go back to college today.

Hubby and I had a big talk on Saturday night and came to a few monumental decisions. We had sort of been talking about moving in the near future, but since we have had to tighten the belt this has been taken off the table. So with that hovering in the background, we have been a bit up in the air as to what other renovations we should do to the house. Now we have decided that once all the kids have finally moved out, we will remain in this house for at least 5 years past that time, so anything we do to the house in the meantime is actually for us, not for resale purposes. So apart from getting the cosmetics done for October, we are now not in so much of a rush to do the rest.

Gail, sounds like a very productive discussion. Hubby and I had a talk like that. We realized that we no longer need to move to a bigger single-family house. We are currently in a townhouse (attached to our neighbor but we have the corner). We realized that in 8 years our baby will start college and we can look at a smaller place.

THERESA, I almost spewed coffee all over my screen when I read your post abut scaring everyone away. that was so funny. thanks for a good laugh. Next time, just warn me that I should not read while drinking coffee, please???

GAIL, yes, I saw that it posted. It just disappeared here while I was typing. I am glad it posted itself. See, it was a pretty good post wasn't it? thanks for letting me know, I might not have seen it already.

TAMI, I do not think you could have done any better on a new TV price. you were getting very close to used price for a TV. congratulations, way to go girl! Don't you just love a good bargain??

Rolanda, having house to 'lock up' stage is major, I know you are exited. and then to have the cabinets and benches in, sounds like completion is getting close, much closer now! Are you getting a widdle bit excited??

Rolanda - pleased it's all (the house) coming together for you.
Gail - glad Hannah is better and that you've made a decision about whether you stay or go.
Tricia (and Joy) and Heidi - I feel for you suffering migraines. I haven't had a bad one for nearly 20 years now but still get the signs - zigzags, aversion to light, mild nausea - but nothing like I did once upon a time.
Theresa - I'd be on my way but, alas, I can't find a brush - hahaha!
Tami - sounds like a good deal on the TV.
Love and big hugs where required!

Evening all,
Not a very productive day today. After everyone slept I fell asleep and didn't wake up until hubby sent me a text sometime after one. I must have needed it after the craziness last week and over the weekend. I could have gone back to sleep but stayed up to try to get some stuff done. Didn't really happen though.

Dana's friend and her 2 kids are staying with us tonight, maybe tomorrow night too. After that it will depend on what the courts have been up to whether she will stay any longer. HE is back in town ready to face court tomorrow for his parole hearing. She looks so stressed! Hubby even has the baseball bats ready, though HE doesn't know where we live.

Gail, I am also glad Hannah is better. Everyone here seems much better, though it is till scary holding Tahli and feeling her chest when she breathes. I've told Dana the next time she has to go we should get them to hold her with their hands around her chest and then tell us all is hunky dory.

Suzy, not as stressful today but still a day at the 'club' and not home getting things done. Back to regular bowls day tomorrow. We had raffles every day and the first day I won a meat tray and today a $20 voucher to use at the local Thai restaurant.
I think I might have to do some grocery shopping after bowls tomorrow if we still want to eat.
Glad to read that a lot of people are getting over the colds and flu but do not like to hear of those getting migraines.
Rolanda, love hearing of the progress of the house.
The rice salad was very popular and all went and they would have eaten more if it was available.

4 year old (I think) just asked me why he and his little brother are here. I told him you've come for a visit because a change is as good as a holiday. Poor little bugger doesn't need to know he's here because his father is a jerk.

Spent yesterday aching and throwing up. Still feel cruddy today, but have to go do a meds pick up.
I did stay up to watch Curiosity approach, descend and land on Mars, then send back 3 quick thumbnail pictures to let everyone know it's on level ground and is functioning perfectly. It was SO COOL!

Morning all. The humidity is gone and so is my headache. Yahoooooooo. A high of 24C today and it is supposed to be in mid to upper 20's all week. This is the kind of weather I like!

D and her family are gone on vacation so I am watching her cats, rat and fish for the week. Boy the house is going to be quiet!!!

Quiet house, cooler temps, does life get any better than that? Perfect painting weather, huh gang?????

Quick visit, I'm watching the 4 year old for a little while. His mum is talking to a counsellor for him - you know, setting up the history etc and she doesn't want him to hear it. A couple of months ago he asked where his father was and she had been told to be honest with him. He lost it, went completely feral and uncontrollable, just didn't know what to do with the information - and I don't think she even told him why he was there!

Apparently he slept really well last night. He usually has nightmares but last night he didn't move all night. He is anxious to get to his home though, finding the unfamiliarity unsettling I think.

The news is that HE is unlikely to get out, but they won't find out today. Did you know that he could apply for bail today?? That makes no sense at all to me. They're deciding if he can get out on parole and he can be bailed while they decide. How messed up is our legal system???????!!!!

good evening friends. A sleepless night last night, did not fall asleep till about sunrise and today was a day I had to be up by 9, to get ready for doc appointment. Did I say I have yeast and thrush again? He thought up one more blood test he has not done, plus my every 6 month routine blood work. the venipuncturist blew the first vein after only one vial of blood, got them slowly filled from second stick site.

Suzy, I agree, exellent answer to the 4 year old. You are right, he does not need to know. His reaction to the truth was so sad, poor baby. he could bail out while court decides if he is eligible for parole? craziest thing I have heard, and I thought our courts did unbelievable things.

My Kia would not start this morning, I had just decided yesterday to go ahead and sell the green minivan. Was glad it was there today. after i got home, just too tired to think about dealing with it, perhaps it was battery. I shall get roadside assistance to come jump start it and follow me to auto parts store so I can have them check it for me.

June, very lucky of you to win twice, if anyone deserves to win 'tis you.

Theresa, so lad your humidity and temps have moderated. Our temps a bit lower, but humidity still high. Could you send a bit of drier air our way?

Latest Tropical storm or cat 1 hurricane will not affect the US, according to forecasters. This one is going across Belize in central America and then Bay of Campici (sp?) to make second landfall in Mexico.

I had an X ray of knee at do today, he could not see anything. It might have a small tear in patella, kneecap, but he could not see anything but arthritis on X ray. We will watch it, he would have injected it and/or sent me to MRI, but I said no thank you for today.

heidi, i do hope you got to pick up your meds with no problems today. Does your absence rest of day mean you got pain relief and fell asleep? I hope so, at least the pain relief.

Agree with Gail, and he has not earned it. I too am glad Hannah is better.

BB, you are excused from the naughty room, but young lady, do not let that happen again. I expect better from you.

I had lots more to say, but thunder boomers around. Perhaps I should get off and come back once these blow by. I hope they miss us, was hard to tell from last radar check. Just about 5 miles away now, but headed west, the 'wrong' way.

Huumm, according to radar it is raining here. Rain has not yet made it to the ground, but thunder is increasing. hugs to each of you, I am out of here! I have my candles lit, but please, let us keep power! OOOPS, rain here now, huge downpour!

Absence today means that I still have the 'flu and spent most of the day in bed feeling sorry for myself. I just had to get up to feed and water the birds. Now back to bed. I did drag myself out of the house to do a meds pick up and it did a number on me. I'm both shivering and sweating profusely at the same time.

this t storm was not as intense as the one last week, I am happy to say. Looks like it has gone on South and West, opposite of the normal North East direction of t storms.

happy to report the timing on my book reading worked out well. I finished the book just as the storm passed, did not have to stay up later just to finish it hehehe.

Good night all, till tomorrow.
