Greetings to all of my SA friends! The weekend was exhausting, but a success. Fortunately, hubby was able to see some of the demonstrations/discussions. I finally could have gone to the last one, but was so tired that I was afraid I might fall asleep.

I have read, but forgotten what I had hoped to comment on. Thinking of everyone and hoping all stomach bugs, flu and migraine headaches are improving! Sending an abundance of positive thoughts, healing vibes, prayers, and {{{{{HUGS}}}}} to all of you!

Guess who didn't check the numbers. I'm not sure if I have used the following for a TOPP before:

‎'People who love you, people who you love back, people that will always be there for you, through the good times and the bad, they make you happy when you are sad; they are angels that have yet to earn their wings; they are your dearest friends.'

Julie, you could use that for every TOPP, I never get tired of sweet words like those :)

Hubby and I are enjoying a celebratory bourbon and coke after planting out yet another garden bed. We bought a pot of canna lillies not long after we moved up here, and planted it in what we now call burial plots (solid clay with no nourishment in a hole only just bigger than the pot!). Some years later when it was obviously struggling we took it out, broke it up and potted them into better soil and multiple pots. Now, several more years later, they have finally gone into the ground in a carefully dug trench and back-filled with a wonderful mix of potting soil and cow p**p. Looks good but hopefully will have grown more leafy before October :)
Here is a link that has a picture of the cultivar we have planted, Canna Tropicanna Gold-

Evening all,
Late dinner tonight as Dana is cooking for us. She has picked a 'from scratch' curry and is finding it is taking her longer than she expected. It didn't help that she ended up with a little less meat than she'd planned on so sent her friend over town to buy more! I suggested, too late, that she might have just made do with what she had.

Julie, great topp and congrats on a successful weekend! It's a shame you were too busy and tired to attend any of the demonstrations. Maybe next time someone else organises it you can have fun.

Why am I SO tired...
Not to worry..

Great TOPP Julie. Glad it went well on the weekend but sorry you were too exhausted to attend any of the demo's. Next time I hope you get a break when you are fresh enough to enjoy it to the max..

Heidi I hope you start to recover soon.. so not good.

Well done Gail..that is a really pretty canna.. looking forward to visiting and checking out all your hard work.

I'd love a gin & tonic but wouldn't say no to any of the other options..I drink G & T for purely medicinal reasons.. the minerals in the tonic water prevents leg cramps.. works much more efficiently if the tonic is diluted with gin.. take my word for it..

Tricia BB will try to behave...

Watching Masterchef on an empty stomach is NOT a good idea..

Wonderful top Julie. Won at bowls today and came home with a carrot cake. must be a winning streak. I then went shopping so we have some necessities in the cupboard. Dentist at 8.30am to finish this root canal.
I have had a sleep in front of the TV so might now go to bed.

Hi all. Busy morning. Got all the holes and cracks filled in the driveway. Has to dry for 24 hours. Tomorrow I will do the sealer, let that dry for minimum of 24 hours and I will have a beautiful driveway.

Suzy, I will join you in a brandy. Not a fan of scotch or bourbon. Will always do vodka or tequila.

Gotta run. Going to school to see what room I will be in. If I have to move, I have a lot of stuff to move.

Thanks for your sympathy, darling Bean. I thought everybody was giving me the cold shoulder after my joking with Suzy fell so flat. I DID apologize. I'm feeling somewhat better today. Food is staying down finally, and I can now take my pain meds. I cannot take them on an empty tummy or they make a rapid escape and do me no good.

Gail.... I wish I had your skill with gardening. Your green thumb is a gift. I have 2 brown thumbs. I kill plants that are considered nearly indestructible, but am great at raising animals. I'm fair at raising weeds, though, especially ones I dislike intensely.... like Pokeweed and Spiny Amaranth.

Hello all. Another low humidity day here ... that's 2 in a row. I am loving it. I sat outside a couple of times today and enjoyed every minute. Might have to do it again a couple of times. Thinking of you all!!!

Heidi, the weed I am best at growing at the moment is some sort of wild morning glories. It is second only to kudzu In rate of growth. It is growing under my deck, sends tentacles through the spaces between boards, and at the moment are trying to come into the house! They have started up the hand trucks or dolly I have stored on back porch between moving boxes around. Not seeing any blooms on these yet, hummm, the pretty blue blooms are the only redeeming characteristic they have.

Theresa, so happy for you, really. sit outside? enjoy it? OK, it was a little better here this afternoon, humidity and heat a bit lower, but the AC inside still feels good. enjoy a bit of outside for me please.

I do not care for bourbon, cannot get past it's smell, It smells like very humus rich woods dirt to me, a nice enough smell when confined to the woods, but i do not want to DRINK it hehehe. Really do not like the taste of most distilled spirits or wines. I can sip on amaretto on the rocks or good peach schnapps. An Amaretto sour is not bad if you have a really good sour mix. Beer?? Forget it. On rare oasion a really dark imported beer, but not any of this American stuff.

TAMI, glad you got the holes filled in driveway. I know that much be very hard, hot work. Does the patching stuff smell as bad as I imagine?? I do hope you do not need to move classrooms. You are doing enough moving with helping your Mom pack.

JUNE is really on a winning streak. the carrot cake sounds yummy, one of my favorites. Nice for you to have sweets all ready for your dins, especially on grocery shopping day.

Well, I had auto repaired. I went out and tried one more time this morning, the car started. If the engine had not caught the instant it did, it would not have. i drove to auto parts store, had them test th battery, they said it tested bad, I bought a new one. they installed it for me, no charge. i bought windshield wiper blades while i was there. I try not to have to drive in the rain, but other day when I went to dermatologist in the rain, noticed mine were very streaky, and of course right where I needed to see.

BEAN, don't try, just do it, I know you can hehehe.

Gail, the leaves are most striking on your calla lily . they would be welcome in my garden if they did not even have blooms. I do love the orange color of those, nice.

Julie, so sorry to hear you did not get to attend any of the demonstrations, bummer. You do so much for your group, you of all people deserve to get a chance to hear them. maybe next time??

time to think about dinner, so off to the K room I go. Hugs to each of you, with extras.

Good maEn everyone! Have been MIA here for a long time. Been watching lots of the olympics, but I see quite a few of you on 'the other site'. After much discussion & hair pulling, we've decided to postpone sale of the house until we figure out WHEN Darrell's job is over. (Yes, the military--in their infinite wisdom) has changed the final date of closure AGAIN!!
I am getting tired of not knowing what is going on. Darrell keeps me informed, but it is frustrating...
Sending Healing vibes to those who are ailing, love & hugs to all with extras. I promise I will try to show up more often.
Love you all, take care, TTFN

MizT, last night I did not need the AC, and in the middle of the night I had to turn the ceiling fan off because I was too cool. I won't need the AC tonight. But tomorrow it's back to 30C and the risk of a thunderstorm, so I'm thinking the humidity will come back too. Sorry, I didn't get your request in time to send you some cooler stuff. Next time we have nice weather, I'll try and blow some your way.

I do okay with house plants, but my cats destroy them. They even managed to kill a hanging plant that was my last one ... I watched them one day. One got on top of the china cabinet, and then made a leap for the plant. Good thing the cats are cute!!!!

The dentist this morning, the only thing that hurt was my wallet.
Then it was lovely in my sun room so instead of doing all the jobs inside I just sat in the sun doing bits and pieces. Also made a few phone calls to catch up with some neglected friends.
Nice to see you Suzanne. I do not check the other site very often.
My garden is very neglected. Too many weeds and some getting out of control. I need to find a handyman to do some digging for me.

Hello friends. Not a lot of posts to comment on today, so I might as well just ramble on hehehe.

BEAN, glad it was not you who broke the site this time! Was it June who was last poster fore the long silence? I imagine we could have a couch bean, that is a good vegetable. hehehe.

Rolanda, hope the headache is soon gone, never to darken your door again. What helps yours? I did the 'think your hands warm' biofeedback to get rid of mine. If I can relax facial muscles between temple and jaw just right, I can get blood flowing OUT of the head and into hands, relieving pressure and headache. I do hope you have something that helps yours, be it medication or alternative methods of headache relief. sending good healing thoughts and magic fairy dust. Get better soon.

Brenda, glad you dropped in for a visit. We miss you when you don't post. How do you tolerate that hot slidy thing in summer time? You are a better (wo)man than I.

Theresa, you did not add a lot to the noise in your short post about how quiet it has been hehehe. I didn't see you had said anything previously to keep people away.

JUNE, I can just see you sitting in your sun room enjoying the light. It sounds so peaceful. I love a really bright sun filled room. Luckily there are several public rooms that have an abundance of windows at EP, on cold winter days, or days just to hot to get outside, I can see me sitting with my phone and a book there. Hope you enjoyed your day, wish I could drop in to share it with you.

Speaking of EP, I have not heard anything from Linda. I sent e-mail she should have received Tuesday AM, no reply. Just asking when I can get into apartment to measure and for an estimate of moving date. If she does not know, could she not reply such? A friend of sister said she Linda hard to keep on track. Friend Nancy lived there for a year, and phoned her repeatedly to get answers about her moving in. It is hard to catch her in her office. I sent another e-mail today, to 2 different addresses. Hope she will get back to me soon. She had first said apartment would be ready second week of August. One full week has passed, this is the second week already, you know?

MizT, I hate it when you have to hunt people down. It is common courtesy to reply, even if only to say there's no news yet.

Tiny bit of rain here and I can hear distant thunder. We have a lot of farmers in serious trouble here with the drought. Mother Nature must be angry with us. A senior retirement home just east of Ottawa has no water ... their well has run dry. The seniors there are quite angry, but I'm not quite sure what can be done. They are not close enough to the city to be on city water. Yikes!!!

Hope you're feeling better, Rolanda. I used to have migraines but haven't had a bad one for many years now. I certainly don't miss them. There were really only two things that would help me, fall asleep (almost pass out), or vomit. Either one of those would make me feel almost instantly better.

Hi all. Driveway is finished and looks great. Had a few minor problems. It started to rain when I was almost done with first coat. Luckily it was only a drizzle and did not cause problems. When I was doing the second coat, my spreader broke. Big problem. Called a neighbor who told me to use hers. Luckily I have her house key so I could get it. I have her key and she has mine, just in case of emergency.

Hi all!
I've been at home for a fortnight. Shaun brought home a virus from Kindy and I've been in bed since Monday of last week. I don't ever think I've felt this lousy. I managed to get to work for about 3 hours in the middle of the day yesterday but that will be it for the week.
I woke up this morning and had to unglue my eyelids. Just what I don't need... something else wrong. Anyway I'm going back to the doctor tomorrow.
Hubby also has the flu. He seemed to get over the first lot but was at work last week when one guy decided that he needed to be there and share his flu around.
So in among that I've lost 4-5kgs and watched lots and lots of the Olympics. I haven't been near the computer or even reading very much.
We have just started to having movie nights at home. We watched Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt 1 & 2 and last night watched the Hunger Games.
Oh and we picked up the new car on Tuesday. I couldn't get enthusiastic about it and we bought it home and haven't taken it out since. I also have some new furniture due but again can't be bothered even thinking about it arriving.

Ok, I think it's nearly time to go back to bed. Have a lovely time everyone!

Novel coming up, grab a cuppa, comfortable chair and read
Went past the house yesterday, on my way home from Grocery Shopping.
the house next door, which started building when I flew to the East 2 months ago.
Has not only had the walls rendered, the ceiling and cornices are in, and the walls have the white set done, and the windows are in..
Talk about being thrown up..
OK ours seems to be taking a long time, at least it is being done properly, and the walls are dry before the rendering was done..
The walls next door, are not dry.. we have some heavy rain, before Roofs were put into place..
our Roof was up before theirs, with more heavy rain before theirs was up!!
Still... I said to Peter yesterday, when on the phone to him.. we may have been the 4th house in the estate to begin, at this rate, we will be the last to move in !!!!
The Building Supervisor indicated we should have keys to the house late Oct/Beg Nov.
Once we have Keys and before we move in, the Main Floor area needs to be tiled, Carpet in the 3 bedrooms, and some shelving in Store Room; our Wardrobe, cabinets in the Office.. will need to be done.
So moving hopefully around 3 weeks after key handover.. so we are looking say Mid Nov/End Nov moving in.
All my walls are rendered now, and the Ceiling Men are in today.

Greetings to Everyone! Hubby and I are still trying to catch up on our sleep since the weekend, so I tried to get here earlier and have time to make a post or two.

Gail, I really like the looks of those canna lilies! They will be very striking as they leaf out more! You and Scott deserve a celebratory beverage with all the work you have been doing indoors and out! I'm disappointed that the calla lilies are good for zone 7 and up. (We live in zone 5.) I hope you enjoy the new indoor plants - and not having to care for them!

Suzy, I hope the new recipe for curry was a hit with everyone! I also hope all household members are either completely healthy or on the mend!

Bean, I hope you are continuing to make progress in the preparations for Lachie's visitor! Have you been feeling better and less exhausted?

June, what a great winning streak! Carrot cake sounds yummy! We also need to make a trip to the grocery store - maybe tomorrow! I'm glad the trip to the dentist was essentially painless, but know the feeling to the wallet. I needed a crown replaced earlier in the year. (Why do dental crowns cost so much? They aren't made of gold and covered in jewels.) Time spent in your sun room is time WELL spent, I think!

Tami, good for you for repairing and sealing your driveway! Hopefully it wasn't a terribly hot day! I hope you don't need to change classrooms this year! You have enough packing and moving to do already!

Heidi, I hope you will soon be feeling better. It's no fun to have the flu AND issues with your back! No matter how brown your thumbs are, I'm sure the death of old oaks has nothing to do with you! Oaks have such shallow roots that the heat and lack of rain no doubt contributed to their demise!

Theresa, hooray for the somewhat cooler and less humid days! You deserve a chance to sit out and enjoy for a bit!

MizT, it's reassuring to know that the car should know start on the first try and your windshield wipers are fresh and non-streaking! Is there a parking lot at EP for residents?

Suzanne, I'm glad your absence was only due to spending some time watching the Olympics! I think you and Darrell have made the correct decision in postponing the sale of your house. I hope when the military decides they no longer need his services that you will quickly find a buyer!

Rolanda, sometimes I think lack of luck with houseplants has quite a bit to do with whether they receive adequate light and air circulation. Your plants may do well after you move into your new house. We had an orchid that wasn't doing well, until I needed to move it. Suddenly, we had blooms. We gave D a small potted rose in January while she was here. Several times it nearly died for lack of water and light. It finally was looking better, and we planted it outside. It is now blooming.

Rolanda, I hope the migraine is now gone and you are feeling much better! Be sure to take care of yourself and relax!

Brenda, I'm glad you stopped in for a visit! I can't im

Installment number two follows:

Brenda, I'm glad you stopped in for a visit! I can't imagine doing much ironing in this heat! I'm sure at least some of it can wait! We'll be happy to help you occupy your time!

MizT, I wish Linda at EP would return your emails promptly! As Theresa said, even if she just responded that she can't provide a firm date, you would at least know she received and read your email. You really need to get the information on move-in date and know room sizes! Would that not be consistent from one apartment to another, or at least one apartment above another?

Oh, dear! Heidi, after all your work to make sure the horses would have a secure place, they broke open a gate and joined the cows. Maybe they were bored and wanted some companionship? I hope it won't be too hard to corral them and get them back to the appropriate location!

Vicky, how awful to have flu follow flu and share it with the family! Eyelids glued shut suggests conjunctivitis to me. (At least that's how I remember it.) It's no wonder you can't get excited about the new car or furniture to be on its way soon! Your movie nights sound like fun, even if you're not feeling well. When you are finally feeling better, will there be a lot of catching up to be done at work? Sounds like you're due for some good health and pleasant days soon! I hope you feel much better sooner, rather than later!

Bean, it seems like you and I need to get some sort of realistic schedule going. It's been said that you feel much better and get more accomplished if you can go to bed and get up at the same time consistently. (I woudn't know, but would be willing to give it a try.) I hope you get LOTS done today!

Rolanda, I'm so glad your new house is being built properly and not being rushed! I would be SO worried if I were the buyer of the house next to yours. Fortunately, you and Peter are not in a rush to get in by a certain date and are willing to allow the necessary time!

Heidi, I hope your plan for catching a ringleader of the horses works tomorrow, and all the rest follow him/her back where they belong! Do you think IH will notice Sere before she foals? Surely he'll notice a foal?

MIdnight is rapidly approaching, and I'd like to be in bed by then. Sending LOTS of positive thoughts, {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, healing vibes, and prayers for everyone!
