Our life's a stage, a comedy: either learn to play and take it lightly, or bear its troubles patiently.

I had a very full day today. All six periods and on playground duty during recess. Luckily 2 of the 6 periods were sport and it poured rain about 15 minutes into it so we just sat in a classroom for the rest of the time.

3 of the other 4 periods were okay. 1 great class, 1 good class, and one noisy class that did the work. The other class .... let's just say the whole school was talking about it by the end of lunch! I had sent off a couple of kids to get the head teacher, they couldn't find her so brought back a deputy. He'll be meeting with them again tomorrow. At sport I was working with another teacher (who has Alie for one of her classes and thinks she is lovely!) and she had had the same class the period before I had them and had also had to send for help!!

Forgot to tell you about Alie. She was so adamant that me working at the school would be the end of her life as she knew it, yet she walked with me to the office, said hello with big smiles and waves several times, and was generally quite fine with it all. Now if I had her class it might have been different...

Ah Suzy.. our live is indeed a stage.. A top post.
Entertained no end to read about your day. I hope you have a good day tomorrow. You've earnt it.

I'm exhausted after being awake and functioning all day.. it has been really good not to fall asleep every time I sat down. Have to head into the city tomorrow so may not feel quite so chipper tomorrow night.

Early to bed is on the agenda tonight.. catch you all tomorrow.

Suzy - would the school put you in charge of Alie's class? It seems they should try to find an alternative.
It took me a minute to work out about the 'scenario' - got it and how scary.
Nola - big hugs, you and Judy are in my thoughts.
Heidi - does that mean that Robert's dismissal waits until next week?

Emily left yesterday on her first ever school camp. As she is only Grade 5, it is a 3 day/2 night one. It is her first ever time away from family. As Andrew said, he didn't get a call to come and get her so she must have survived the night.
I worry about her, she tends not to join in and stands back and watches. She told me no-one wanted to share a tent with her. I hope that was just her imagination.

I have spent many hours in the last few weeks sorting through photo albums on the pooter as well as scanning printed photos to make up an album for Karin's 40th birthday. Have finally finished that process - now I have 292 photos to pick from and get down to approx 150 - oh dear.
Then I have to prepare the album online and get it printed and delivered before her party on the 22nd Sep.

There's a math problem going around FB at the moment and it's obvious that people have either forgotten or never knew their order of operations rules. The funny thing is that the people who don't know them are vehement in their anger at the people getting different answers to them! They are swearing and name calling!!! It's actually funny and they would so not be impressed by people laughing at them...Not for getting the wrong answer, but for being so angry about it!

Morning all. Off to the Diabetes Clinic this morning ... hopefully today will be the day when it all gets sorted out and things 'click' in my mind. I have moved past the denial stage and have accepted it, so that's a good thing.

My heart goes out to Emily, Cyn. I have a feeling my oldest grandie would have similar problems. She has an anxiety disorder that she's on medication for, and that seems to help. Don't you just want to scoop them up in your arms and not let go?

Will be back later to hopefully get caught up in the reading. Hugs to all.

Cyn, for one day of casual work they would probably let it slide. If I was a permanent teacher they would look for alternatives.

I hope Emily has a wonderful time at camp. My kids were always taken to places with no mobile phone reception - probably so they would actually do the activities and not sit on their phones all day - not that mine had phones in primary school, but a lot of kids did. It was a good thing for the kids, but scary for we parents and grandparents left behind...

I hope you get the album done on time, it seems very close.

Heidi, I hope Friday goes okay. If he has been name calling already, I suspect the air will be blue in a best case scenario. I'm sure you will match him though.

Mama posted two videos on the other site, and I still have tears in my eyes.

I did not make it to the diabetes clinic ... my feet started to act up again and I can barely walk. I have an appointment with a chiropodist next week Tuesday. I phoned to see if I could get an earlier one, but they are all booked. I guess I will have to soak my feet now ... they have a burning sensation now on the bottoms. (bottoms of my feet, not my other 'bottom') Tee hee.

I will be thinking of you tomorrow, Heidi.

I am back home with the 2 baby girl parakeets. I had 5 to chose from (the other 3 are sold and being shipped out on Monday) and I picked the 2 largest females. I could have gotten a male and female (that's what the seller thought I was gonna do) but this way I don't have to worry about siblings breeding. My one male is unrelated to these 2 sisters. I made better time than I expected. It's amazing how much faster you can go without a horse trailer towed behind.

I do NOT get into screaming matches with people. Ever. I don't like scenes. I'm at my most dangerous when mad and quiet. I have the dominant body language down pat. And I don't make threats. I make promises. Like that time with IH when he decided to go deer hunting illegally. I promised him that if he broke the law, I'd have him arrested. He broke the law. He was arrested. And found guilty of 3 crimes. He had no defense because I told the police he intentionally and knowingly broke the law. Nobody crosses me.

Theresa.... You NEED to go to the diabetes clinic. It's too important. I'm concerned that the problem with your feet could be a combination of the plantar fasciitis and the diabetes. What you describe sounds bad..... worse than what I went through with my p.f..

Heidi, I still haven't seen a nasty side of you. To not want to be taken advantage of and to let others know where they stand with you is being honest and true to yourself. When others learn that you say what you mean and mean what you say, yet continue to cross the line, they get whats coming to them...you go girl!
Bean, I couldn't agree with you more regarding the gifts of those who can include all of those posting, plus in their comments, nor our gift of being able to share the good, the bad and the ugly here. It is really a blessing. Glad to see you're on the mend enough to already be getting yourself out of wack ...lol...hope you are able to sleep tonight.
Suzy, sounds as if you had an exceptional day for a casual...1 great class and 1 good class out of 6...only one really dreadful class...not too shabby. I'm happy for you.A's behavior only reinforces her love and pride in you...but protest she must since that's what teanagers do...lol.
Let me tell you about one of my dreadful classes as a casual....it still makes me laugh so I guess it wasn't all bad...I use to write a long poem or two on the board and have the kids read and discuss it. They were free to make any observation as long as they did it with out bad language. This usually went over pretty well, the kids loved to read and not have to do busy work....and they usually learned something too ....After taking attendance...phoney names submitted of course,I was distracted by something being thrown against the door.....my mistake was to check it out instead of ignoring it...I then was quickly pushed out of the room, shades drawn and door locked from the outside...my keys were inside...I was horrified because the exit door opened and the prinipal came into the hall, took in the situation quickly, unlocked the door, checked to see if I had prepared work for them and taken attendance...told me to point out the trouble makers and took them out of the room for the remainder of the period. I told the rest of the class that that was an example of doing the right thing because you never knew what was on the other side, nor do they know what the casuals and the principals would do to see that they had an opportunity to learn....That went on to be one of my best classes ever as a casual...we all learned something that day.
Nola....you and Judy remain in my thoughts and prayers, and I'm with Suzy about hoping you are able to squeeze some rest into the day and not trying to do all of your housework as usual. Cyn...hope Emily suprises you and has a good time while away...but I understand your mindset.
Theresa, sorry the videos made you cry, but they were touching. Hoping your feet stop hurting you so badly...did Heidi's tip help at all? You have been doing a good job of accepting the different ailments, but its hard to keep trying to put your best foot forward when it hurts like the dickens!!!! Healing, comforting vibes for all along with hugs and good wishes.♥

Heidi, I go to the diabetes clinic about once a month. However, on Tuesday I have an appointment at a chiropodist to have an assessment on my feet. They are also burning. Maybe it's athlete's foot ... if so, that would be the most athletic thing about me.

A little while ago I spotted half of a rainbow. It's amazing how something so natural can lift your spirits.

Waiting for my stirfry to finish ......

Hopefully I'll be back later.

The male Splendid Parakeet (same bird but alternate name for the Scarlet Chested Parakeet.... and shorter) is thrilled with his 2 new girlfriends. They're way too young to be mating.... they just hatched, themselves, on June 19th) but he's thrilled to have others of his species as room mates. He was just regurgitating his food and feeding them, just like their parents would have if they hadn't been hand reared.

Heidi, it's just the usual stirfry for me. Green beans, onions, green peppers, celery, carrots and chicken on a bed of whole grain brown rice. I eat that a lot. I don't eat a lot of meat, so the chicken at least adds some protein. Every diet needs some carbs, and that's where the rice comes in. I do add a bit of sodium reduced soya sauce to the stirfry just for some flavour, but even the sodium reduced stuff is still high in sodium. But hey, you need some flavour, right???

Gekko my friends.
After losing my long post last night had a friend pop in, Teresa's brother. He was pretty scatty when he got here but thanked me later in a text for pointing this out.
Good News! Arran is now home and all is well, still will be some time to see if there is any damage from the lack of oxygen but he is responding just like a normal baby, he is now 5 weeks old...how time flies.
Heidi, one of the things in my post last night is you do have a way with words, many I time when I have been down in the dumps you snap me right out of it with your dry humour.
Posting before I loose this too.

Thanks for saying that, Broni, but I get a lot of people mad at me regularly, even in Sudokuland, when they don't get my humor. I get PMs regularly from many people who think I'm being b*tchy, and feel that they have the right to reprimand me. Every one makes me cry.

Cyn, I couldn't open up the site. Let us know how she is doing!

I tend to have a strange sense of humour and at times my sarcasm and humour are taken for innocence. Of course, I am always innocent!

I don't know how Heidi's rolling pin thingie is working out for me. I think there's something else going on, especially with the burning of the feet. I still do it in the morning, and the day before yesterday there was no pain, but it's back full force now! Time will tell.

Hi folks.
Just about to jump on a train ands head into the city.. just trying to decide if it is too soon after lunch.. I'm very regular at times.. :)

Want to take the time first to respond to your feet problems Theresa. I would be very surprised if you had athletes foot. I have learnt a lot about burning feet and intractible 'itching' that has just about made me suicidal.. it was one of the first symptoms that my blood sugar was severely out of whack...just didn't make the connection and nor did the doc. I will try to find you some information that helped me but if you google peripheral neuropathy in regards to diabetes you will probably find a lot of your symptoms.

My feet are at their worst when I have been 'breaking free' and not eating sensibly .. too many high GI foods or wine. [often after a sudoku get together.. I'm sensible most of the time] Luckily I only eat sweets occasionally but a lot of the savoury things I like are high GI as well. Fruit isn't good..

I have tried all sorts of things to relieve the discomfort. My GP was horrified to find that I was dipping them in near scalding water because that pain was preferable to the other undescribable sensation in my feet.. I've had a lot more success with ice..

I submerse them totally until they are completely numb .. takes a while and a lot of ice. I am wary of getting frost bite but it is probably less dangerous than hot water... Have read of some pastes you can make but haven't tried.. mess factor and the amount I would have to make..over and over again in large quantities because it isn't just one little spot.

Now you all know why I am often awake at 3am and on the computer.. trying to distract myself from my feet.. the 'disconfort' prevents me from sleeping. ...and yes... it is a powerful incentive to eat correctly.. and no, the damage to my nerves is permanent. I have to learn how to live with it..

Emily apparently thoroughly enjoyed camp - I am so pleased for her but haven't spoken to her yet. Andrew picked her up and took her straight to her Mum for the weekend but he said she never paused for breath the whole way there. I will talk to her on Sunday night when she's back home.
I feel relieved!

Morning all.

Yes, I will go back to the Diabetes Clinic. Yesterday's appointment was to check to make sure I'm doing the insulin right and to check my diet. I have been eating so healthy it makes me sick (just kidding). The foot clinic specializes in diabetics, so I need to get that checked ASAP.

Thanks for the tips, Bean. I have been soaking my feet in luke warm water with baking soda in it. I will try the ice water tonight. Easier to handle in the summer than in the winter!

The one thing I eat more of than I should is fruit, so maybe I will avoid that for a while. I love fruit though because it's the only natural sugar I have. Sometimes I just crave something sweet, and I will grab an orange. I haven't had any sweets (including chocolate) in a very long time.

I will check on the internet about peripheral neuropathy - thanks so much for your help.

Today is last day for grandies' swimming lessons and I hope to make it there. It's only about a 5 block walk, so if my feet are okay I will go. Right now they are not too bad except for the burning ... feels like my shoes should spontaneously combust just from coming into contact with my feet!

I'm glad that you're listening to Bean, Theresa. Definitely the voice of experience. What you're describing isn't plantar fasciitis, which responds immediately, but briefly, to the first rolling pin treatment. I'm now more concerned that it's the neuropathy that Bean described. This is getting scary. I'm really worried about you. Get in to see somebody, soon. Remember, it's the squeaky wheel that gets the grease.

Well, it's done. Robert no longer works for me.
We took Robert's old junker to the scrapyard and he got a lot more than he thought he would. Then we had the talk. I didn't have to say much. He was expecting it.
