Well done Judy. What a mammoth task..
Physically and emotionally draining..

Handbags..what a giggle.. I now carry flushable toilet seat covers in my bags.. find I get caught short and have to use public toilets more and more.. not a pleasant experience..

Its interesting how the contents change along with our stage of life.. I went through the tiny bag stage to avoid ending up carrying everyone elses junk..regrettably I am back into larger bags..blood testing kit, camera, kindle, emergency glucose..no longer carry any makeup other than lipstick.. not sure whether that is because I think I am past it or can't be improved apon...

So Alie's at the 'oh, Mum, you're soooo embarrassing stage. I'm waiting for karma to hit Karin, only a few years and she'll be the embarrassment of Maddy's life, like I was for her. I once had the temerity to ask her to carry a 2K bag of potatoes across the road while I carried about 4 full shopping bags. (What if my friends see me??) Hehehe! What goes around, comes around.

Judy - so pleased that you're nearing the end of cleaning out your Mum's house. Is it the house you grew up in? That makes it even harder they say. My M & D moved after we all grew up and left so we were alright. The grandchildren had more problems because they couldn't remember them being anywhere else.

I'm awake and very sore. The back is killing me. So are my feet. But it was worth it. I don't have many friends, so it was wonderful spending time with a few of them, and going to a fantastic concert. The Oak Ridge Boys may be getting up in years, but their voices are as good as ever and they put on a great show. This was their 37th consecutive year playing at the Kentucky State Fair. They still record a new album or 2 every year, so they always have plenty of new songs to perform, as well as some of their greatest hits like Elvira, Ya'll Come Back Saloon, Bobbie Sue, Thank God For Kids and so many others. They do everything from Rock to Pop to Ballads to Gospel. They finish the program with an ''a capella'' Amazing Grace that brings tears to my eyes, even though I'm not religious. Sharing that with friends who react the same way is special.

Heidi, Amazing Grace always brings tears to my eyes. It was the hymn my mother wanted played at her funeral.

Thanks for those words, Mama.

Embarrassing moments for teens ... driving them to school. That's when they ask to be dropped off a block from the school because they don't want their friends seeing your car is not new or sporty!

D is putting her kids in an after-school daycare here in town called Cheeky Monkeys. Her oldest (the one with epilepsy and behavioural problems) has anxiety in social situations, so D is hoping this will help. It's $300 a month, so D will be working an extra day a week, so her pay cheque for the extra day and the daycare will be even. I will be looking after the girls the one extra day that she works from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. I told her I will give it a try and see if it works. I think it might be good for both girls actually because the younger one gets bored quite easily. Fingers crossed.

I know something that works for plantar fasciitis, Theresa. I used to have it. You set a rolling pin on the floor next to your bed. When you first get up in the morning, before walking a step, sit on the edge of the bed with the arches of both feet on the rolling pin. Then while putting a little weight down on the pin, roll it back and forth under your arches. It stretches the tendon down there and eases up the pain. Just do it for a couple minutes and you will feel less pain.

I'm back from the epidural, and off to bed. It was a lulu again. I hope it lasts. I could barely walk into the clinic this afternoon.

Heidi, I have looked everywhere for my rolling pin and can't find it. I know I had one, but it didn't get used very often. I have the worst luck making pie crusts! If I'm able to walk a bit tomorrow, I think I'll make a trip to the Sally Ann to see if they have one. If not, I can always use a can of catfood under each foot. Thanks for the tip ... I'll try it and let you know.

Last time I had an attack of this, I had to get orthotics for my shoes, which I accidentally threw out one time when I got a new pair of boots. I have another pair of orthotics, but some reason my feet hurt more with the newer ones. I will be calling a local foot doctor tomorrow. My feet are also burning. Being a diabetic, I have to be very careful with my feet.

Heidi, glad the epidural was painful.

I just brought Shadow (AKA Snookums) home. She was in our yard getting beaten up by another black cat that I have not seen before. I met Shadow's dad and he told me they let their cats out all the time. The women before told me that Shadow got out of the window. Now I am wondering if Shadow is indeed spayed, or if the tom cat outside was trying to mate with her. I was kind of sarcastic with the man saying we don't let our cats out at all, partly because we live so close to the street. I also told him next time I see his cat I won't bother returning it. Don't you just hate it when sarcasm is wasted??? Shadow was terrified and just snuggling with my neck when I returned her. I think if I can find her a good home, Shadow just might disappear from the neighbourhood.

Hot Digity dog...we may have a cat knapping on our hands and possibly know the doer of the deed...not! You go Theresa...it doesn't sound as if Shadow is getting the right kind of loving care from the current owners. We don't know nuffin...he he.
Heidi...glad the epidural left you in much pain...may it last a long, long time.
To all of the students, teachers, parents and grandparents who have school opening...please stay alert and my wish is for a very happy, positive and productive school year for all.

Good morning
Heidi - glad the epidural was a lulu. And that you enjoyed the concert. 'Amazing Grace' has always bought tears to my eyes, more so when played by a piper and even more so now because that's what we did at Mum's funeral.
Theresa - sounds like Shadow needs a loving home.
I hope the after school care works well. Our Emily, the one with Epilepsy whose mother dumped her, goes to one that is attached to her school and she just loves it - always happy to go. Hope it works the same for your grandie.
Hi Mama - nice to see you here again.

Cyn, I used to live in a small town that hosted the Glengarry Highland Games every year. A small town of 800 would expand to 20,000 for the one weekend. At the end all the bands got together for the 'massed bands' portion and their final song would be Amazing Grace. When you have probably 100 or more pipers playing that, it is amazing. These pipers would come from around the world. The tears would be running down my cheeks each time, and that was before my mom passed away. Now I never go any more. There is just something so emotional and haunting at the same time about the pipes playing that song. It gives me goose bumps just thinking about it.

Theresa, I feel the same way about 'The Last Post'. It was played at my dad's funeral in '86 and I still get the bumps when I hear it. Talk about embarrassing teens - my eldest at 15 wouldn't let me be seen near his school or his friends as I was of all the horrible things - pregnant. It wasn't until his best freind came to school with the most exciting news - he was going to have a new brother or sister, that my son relaxed about it. Wishing you the best Heidi - hope the epidural lasts longer this time.

Theresa.... I only use the rolling pin for plantar fasciitis. There are easier ways to make pie crusts.

Back to bed again. The Plum-headed parakeets arrive at the airport tomorrow at 3:55 pm. I need to rest until then so I can make the drive.

By the way. I have decided that Robert's days are numbered. He will be gone within 2 weeks. There have been a lot of smaller problems with him lately, that I haven't told anyone here about, and I've decided that I can't put up with it any more. I constantly have to tell him not to smoke in the barns, he's lately been refusing to do what I ask him to if he wants to do something different, he has started taking hour long breaks and when I ask him to get some work done he calls me a b*tch. I have had enough. That fire was the last straw.

Was really noice that I finished my work today looked up at the clock and only had 15mins to go, so not worth starting a new job, I can live without the 15mins pay.

Morning all.

I put the cans of catfood under my feet this morning and rolled them for a few minutes. I started to chuckle because I thought about what people would think if they saw two cans of catfood on the night stand.

Good luck with Robert, Heidi. If you go ahead with this, I hope he isn't the kind of person who would take it out on you.

Oh my Midge, what did you do to Suzy???

Haha, Suzy - I have so nearly done that before - almost reported some innocent person's post as offensive!

Midge - I also agree about 'The Last Post'.

Heidi that's not an easy decision to have to have arrived at. Rest easy now that it is done. I hope you can find some reliable help.

Sleep well Julie..

Broni no amount of pay can compensate an unexpected bonus 15' in your day.. hope you enjoyed it :)

Sitting in the sun was on the agenda Midge.. sat down with a cuppa inside and promptly fell asleep.. figure the body needs it to recover.. pity I didn't make it outside first..

Have gone blank..think I'll shower & ge3t ready for bed. G'nite all

The funny thing is that Gil, who can't stand Robert, doesn't think I should let him go. I think he's afraid that he might be expected to take up the slack. He's even more careless than Robert!

Probably, but I survived before he came here, and without him breaking so much equipment, and I'll survive now. It's not that hard sitting on the tractor doing what has to be done. And I can do everything better than Robert can. And I do mean everything.

I'm leaving in one hour to pick up the new parakeets. Their plane doesn't land for nearly 2 1/2 hours, but it's an hour's drive there and I want to stop at a particular pet shop on the way to pick up a roomy nest box and some chew toys for them. None of my budgie or lovebird sized nest boxes are large enough. Plummies like big, roomy boxes, much bigger than cockatiels need, even though they're cockatiel sized birds.

I will be picking up the 2 Scarlet Chested Parakeet babies on Thursday. Hopefully, one at least will mature into a female for a mate for my unrelated male. They can take up to a year to get their adult plumage, but all I need to tell the gender is one red feather on the chest. The females have duller colors and no red.

My day so far: I stepped in a cat hork; I walked to the store and back (only about a block) and now I can barely walk; I sat outside to relax my feet and put them up and a bird p00ped on my head and arm. It's okay though, I used hubby's brush on my hair.

Can you tell what kind of a day I am having????

I knew these things came in threes - a friend of mine posted on FB that both of her daughters got p00ped on yesterday at different times and at different schools. I told her to stay indoors as bad things happen in threes. Theresa, you must have been the third one to be p00ped on! I like that you used your hubby's brush, hehehe!
