Nola and Judy, my heart goes out to you both. I have tried to phone but you have not been home.
I have been busy with bowls and meetings so have not been on here much.
Love Gail's photos.
Suzy, you will miss Tahli when they move. I never liked it when they crawled as they tend to pick up every small thing off the floor.
Bean, it is always easier to get around cities we know than those we are not familiar with.
I guess Tricia is enjoying her time with her visitors.
Heidi, sounds like this epidural is one that will give you some relief from pain.
Hi to everyone else. Must go and do some ironing. The pile is about 1 metre high!

Never forget that life can only be nobly inspired and rightly lived if you take it bravely and gallantly as a splendid adventure in which you re setting out into an unknown country, to meet many a joy, to find many a comrade, to win and lose many a battle

Well I finally got round to making my xmas cake. I was going to do it yesterday but had forgotten I had an appointment with the nurse yesterday. My tetanus jab was over due, I went down only to be told that I didn't need any more as I had had more than 5 shots in my lifetime so I was covered. What a waste of an afternoon.
Now the cake will be in the oven for 4 1/2 hours so what to do this afternoon. Well there is a pile of gninori to do, and I have knitting to do too... which will it be I wonder....

Suzy, what length of time does that bill cover?
I thought we used a lot of electricity, maybe about £1000 a year.

Our bills are quarterly, and our winter bill is usually around $600. Even with our annual rate increase it shouldn't have come anywhere near that!
And we've had 2 that big! That's over $1200 for 6 months.

Brenda, I have never made a Christmas cake and probably never will as I'm the only one who eats it.

Hi everyone.

Sorry I missed you June. I went shopping and then spent the afternoon with Judy. She is seeing a naturopath so is feeling more positive and less depressed.

Suzy..my electricity bill is also creeping up. I think it is from the big tv and lots of lights in the shed that Greg uses. The next one you have should be lots lower with less people in the house.

Heidi...pleased to hear that the epidural was bad.
Take care!

Gee, hasn't anyone posted since last night?

Great photos Gail!

Brenda.. your a good girl making a Christmas cake. I haven't made one in 20 yrs. Bummer about the wasted day when you didn't need the jab.

Today, I have my first day at the Drs clinic to see what is involved, whether I like it and if they like me. Only a tad nervous but I am sure they will put me at ease.
'Sonny' (the pup) is such a cutie. He sleeps, eats, pees, sleeps. He plays around for 15min and is exhausted. My other dog is not impressed with his presence and growls if he gets close. I try to spend time with her when Sonny is asleep. I think she will accept him in time.

It is an awful looking day here with wind, and possible storms later.Very overcast. Temps are expected to drop with snow up to the Qld border. VERY unusual for this time of year.
Greg had to leave for work at 5am this morning and the pup woke me at 3am. It feels like I have been awake all night.
Going to do the puzzles and will try to get back soon.

Hi all. Just got home from school and heard from the kids about yesterday. I have some 'sneaky' kids who wrote me notes and told me the truth. It seems the kids were not as bad as the sub said and that the sub may have caused some of the problems. I did find out who the worst offenders were and they are not even my kids. They snuck in on the sub.

Morning all,

{{{{{Nola and Judy}}}}} Great news that Judy is feeling a little more positive! I hope you enjoy the day at the doctor's clinic. Hopefully it will be a little less physically taxing. It will probably be mentally tiring on the first day though with all of the new routines you'll have to learn and paperwork to remember. The puppy sounds gorgeous. I always say I'll never have another one and then...

Snow near Queensland in October!!!!

Nola, those big TVs do use a lot of power. Luckily I'd heard about that when we bought one. We saw one for sale at a fantastic price, but I looked at the number of energy stars and paid more for a different one with lots of stars... We've had that for over a year though and it can't explain the bill - except maybe that it doesn't get turned on until late afternoon when I'm on my own and it's been on all day every day lately.

Heidi, I hope there is not much physical work in helping Gil with the calves. It's too soon after your epidural!! Mske him do the physical stuff! It's his project... I know he's not good at it, but that's his problem.

BTW I know the grammar sucks in that sentence, but I would have to delete it and start all over again to fix it and I'm too lazy....

I had a nice sleep after helping IH. My part was easy (though IH thinks it's the hardest part). I moved the calves from the holding pen into the working chute for the crew to handle. This way, I make sure that nobody abuses them. They get moved quietly and gently so they don't get stressed. They're getting so good at it that they're starting to enter the chute single file on their own, at a walk. When IH has done this part, there's a lot of kicking, stampeding and hitting going on. The cattle aren't eager to repeat the experience and do everything they can to escape. My way,

Hubby started a new job on Monday. He came home today and told me that a female coworker hit on him. He thought it was funny and politely told her that he is married and has been for almost 19 years. I asked him if I needed to go and beat someone up.

Congrats on the new puppy. Puppy breath is a cure for many ills and depressions. So are puppy antics. Sonny sounds like he's going to be a fun addition to your life.

Tami...you made me laugh, which is good.

Heidi...my neighbor came over yesterday and was cuddling Sonny and commented that she understood why touching animals calms the nerves. Even though she wasn't stressed, she felt so much happier watching him play (fall over) and sleep in her arms. They are great therapy.
Are you selling calves for the meat market? Might have missed why.

I just had a lovely long chat to June on the phone. I am sure you will have a great get together with Bean and others that can join you.

Must go. Have a great day!

No, this isn't for vaccinating or sorting calves for sale. This is for a parasitology project of Gil's. He needs to collect nearly 2 million worm eggs of a particular species, I can't remember which, incubate the eggs and sell the worm larvae. Our calves have that worm, but since nobody has high levels, he's having to run them through the chute repeatedly to collect. Veterinary pharmaceutical companies have to regularly retest their products against the different parasites and IH is the only person in the US who raises some of the rarer species.

Good maEn Everyone!!
Suzy: can you call the power company and ask if they have an energy saver plan?? utah does and during peak months, we pay the same as non-peak months.
TTT: You should be flattered that someone (other than you) finds your hubby attractive. I know he would NEVER persue that, but he's going to be 50 next year and takes GREAT care of himself!! I think he's not too shabby either (tee hee).
I had a great time with Helen & Patricia today. We looked at dresses at the lodge, I got a nice 2-piece outfit (silky long skirt, sequined top) for $20. Also had lunch out and went to D.I. (Deseret Industries--Mormon version of Salvation Army) and bought a two piece dress/jacket combo for $6. Just need shoes & accessories!!
Take care all, TTFN!! Love & Hugs!!

No saver plan would have covered us for a 100% increase in our bills Suzanne... It would have covered us for the expected $600, not the actual $1241

Ken's computer will not load up so he is using mine to do some of his work. It means I either have to go and use the notebook or wait till mine is free.
We have just been out to a pizza place for dinner. We won a voucher some weeks back and it expires at the end of this month. Feel as though I have eaten a bit too much!

Morning all.

Yesterday I was teaching D how to do granny squares and she caught on really quickly. She is helping me make the blanket for her grandfather for Christmas. We watched silly movies while we were doing this. Then we went and got a few groceries and picked up the girls from daycare. All in all it was a really fun day. We hope to do it again on Friday.

My feet were fine yesterday, but they were starting to ache a bit just before I went to bed. So far today they are fine. Three days of feet being OK ... it's like a cloud has been lifted. Both hubby and D have noticed the change in attitude - it's funny how pain can make your days so miserable! I think it's Sunday or Monday I go back on the statin drug, and I guess then I'll know for sure.

Tami, we can send a Sudoku contingent to go and have a 'talk' with this woman!!!

Gotta run ... it's garbage day and I want to clean out the fridge. I'm afraid of what I might find in there. The garbage is picked up in about half an hour. Yikes, I better get off my fat frances, as MizT would say!

Quiet day again today. The plumber is here replacing the commode in the main bath. We decided to go easy on me and install a taller one which will be easier on my back on bad days. IH is at the plant today so isn't underfoot making a pest of himself.

Hi all!
I just wanted to let you know that I had been thinking of you all.
Nola, I'm sorry to hear that Judy's cancer has returned. Sisters are very special people in our lives and I hope you get lots of quality time together.
Tami, it's quite flattering that other people find your hubby attractive. Mind you, a slap around the head wouldn't hurt that little ......
Heidi, I'm glad your last epidural was good. I hope it helps with the pain for a long time.
Good news about your feet Theresa. Long may it last!
I'm still knitting the scarf to send to my niece in London. I really need to get it finished and in the post as she will be needing it soon. Guess what I'm taking on holidays with me.
Gail, I loved the photos. I checked out all the renovations and love the change in the kitchen. The blue and cream is so much lighter than the wood on the doors. Well done! Oh, the floors look wonderful.
