Thanks Dag, at least I have got him home, will have to go back down in 4 to 6 weeks, so hopefully will go down with him, but have committed myself to the gathering for Saylz, we will see.
Had to laugh on the other site, Judy was driving around waving to you lot enjoying your mini gathering and could not get a park within cooee so gave up after an hour.

Evening all,
Good news, bad news for Liz...

MizT, the story about the dogs made me think about Robert's friends relative. Very sad. Fantastic for the dogs though. I was telling hubby the chain saw story but couldn't remember whose nephew it was - duh! Having trouble with all sorts of things..

Broni, that menu doesn't sound simple to me - but then I am cooking-challenged!!

Hi everyone - I see I haven't posted for a while, but I have been trying to keep up with the posts ... just a VERY slow reader ... ?

Broni, I can laugh about my excursion NOW, but at the time I was a wee bit ... upset ... Had to break out the emergency chockies when I got home! :(

Morning all. Coffee is ready. Help yourself.
Glad to hear that Lizzy is home and the graft should is successful.
Amazing dog story.
Broni, the party for Pete sounds excellent. Can you send me the directions for how you cook the wings. My boys love wings and I haven't mastered it yet. Menu sounds fantastic, wish I was there.
Don't remember much else. Sorry to all the people I didn't mention by name.

Home and everything was OK. hold up to start so I was at the hospital at 10am but not into theatre till 1.30pm. No polyps and just mild diverticulitis (which I knew). Hubby is supposed to look after me for 24 hours. I asked what he was going to cook for dinner? "I could buy a pizza". Not really what I felt like eating!!!!
So guess who cooked fried rice and satay chicken for dinner? The person who was supposed to be resting!

Evening all,
Just heard something on TV that made me think of you guys, of course now I can't remember what it was! Feel like I've lost my brain...

June, glad it's over, sorry you had to cook dinner - even Chinese might have been a better offer than pizza, though Tuesday is cheap night here so might be where you are too. We had sausages though because I asked for veges and Alie likes sausages. You had to wait way too long for someone who hasn't eaten real food for so long..

Tami, hubby makes great wings, but I don't know the recipe so can't help you there...

Love you guys, don't know what I'd do without you... sad, isn't it?

In our election yesterday we finally got a majority government (Conservative). Maybe things can get done now. The former opposition party (Liberal) called this election early on a non-confidence vote and it backfired on them - voters did not want an early election. The former opposition party is no longer the opposition, and the leader of that party has lost his seat. Sometimes things work out for the best. Now let's see if peomises are kept ...

The oldest grandie was a handful again this morning. I just stand in the background now and let D handle it. They are making an appointment with a child psychologist for her because things are getting out of hand. Every day it's a battle with her to go to school. Whenever a toy or allowance or privilege is taken away she just says, "I don't care." Hopefully a psychologist can shed some light on her problem(s).

Off to get some things done hopefully. The first priority is to turn the heat back on in the house. It's abnormally cold for this time of year. Brrrr.

So sorry to hear Lizzy may have nerve damage, Sending healing thoughts and wishes that the nerves "wake up" and return to function.

BEAN, I forgot to say HAPPY BIRTHDDAY, hope you had a memorable day.

HEIDI, did you have more storms last night? I see from the map, you should be just coming out of the rain, cannot tell if you had thunder to upset the dogs. We are in the middle of that front, and ladies, the temp dropped 15 degrees in less than an hour as the front came through. It is very cool but so damp you still break a sweat walking across the room. Noticed Heidi is also unseasonably cool at 45*F.

BRONI, loved your menu, sounds great, even if it was easy.

SUZY, doesn't it feel good to get a long needed job complete? One of the first things I cleaned when I felt better was the microwave, and it was such a pleasure to use it after that. good for you cleaning your spices.

Theresa, I am glad to hear that oldest grandie will be getting some help, it sounds something has really upset her. Sending wishes that she will get through whatever it is troubling her. How old is she? I have forgotten.

I really do not understand Canadian, and British politics, Aussie also. Different from ours, but seems there are many similarities amongst those three countries.

OK, teachers, different from or different than?? I know there is a rule but cannot remember now.

Judy, how frustrating, so near but so far from the gathering. I do hope you did not travel a great distance to get there! An hour and still not find a parking spot? That is serious overcrowding.

Al has so enjoyed his coffee this morning. sipping it slowly, 3 trips to the pot for small amounts esh time, so it would stay warm. I do think he got one entire small cup of coffee this morning YEAH. Can't remember if I said, but he had 2 glasses of iced tea yesterday also, some small bites of ice cream and later grits. I think it was suzi asked if he was still having pain swallowing, yes, and it gets worse the more bites, why he gets small amounts. He said today it is both the food burning the throat and also hurting going past certain areas as he swallows. But it is an improvement, and he is so proud of himself. I just brag and brag.

Cold and rainy here again. The dogs kept me up yet again last night, so I slept from 5 am to 12:30 pm.

I think it's great news from Lizzy. Nerve damage is a small price to pay. She's alive!

MizT, the oldest grandie will be 8 this Thursday. So glad that Al is starting to enjoy a few small things through the mouth. The baby steps all add up. Hugs to you.

I broke down and had a nap. I was upstairs putting some stuff away in the bedroom. I could hear the rain on the metal roof, which I find relaxing. Lay down for a minute to enjoy it and woke up 2 hours later. Ahhhhhh.

It is pouring out right now - hope it lets up a bit before I have to pick up the grandies.

The phone did ring. I just slept through it. There were several messages on the machine from IH wanting me to scan and send some documents to a company he's working with. He doesn't have the ability to scan stuff into his computer. I do.

Morning all,
Theresa, things have definitely changed for the better if you can nap for 2 hours without interruption!! I love the sound of rain on the roof too. I hope the problem with your grandie is something simple. I know with Dana the problem was being physically hurt by other kids - I was going to call them bullies, but both of them actually liked her and didn't know how else to show it. It could be something more complex with your grandie related to her mother's illness. I'm glad they are taking her to find out more..

MizT, I'm glad Al got to enjoy his coffee. It's often the small pleasures that make the harder things easier to bear. Or is it bare?

I'd also like to know the answer to your different from or than question...

June, great news about your test results!! Very glad for you.

Judy, come back again soon...

Looking it up, different to is UK casual usage, Different from is UK and American preferred and different than is not really acceptable, although it is gaining usage in the US if a long clause follows. When in doubt, best to use Different from.

Good Morning my friends.
Good to see everyone in good spirits today.
Tami, I just throw the chicken wings into a plastic bag with seasoned flour and thoroughly coat them, then just pop them in a really hot oven and let them cook for half an hour or so, I turn them twice and they are crispy and done. Clean up is the plastic bag and the baking tray.

Empty house! Registering my car today so hubby drove Alie to school. Debating the legality of driving to the RTA in an unregistered vehicle... Hubby says it will be fine, but I'm thinking the walk, although long, would be safer and possibly less expensive..

Hi Everyone.

Broni, count me in for the BBQ for Sayles - I think Kevin is working. Let me know what to bring.

I'm really busy at work with half the guys away. I've brought my knitting in just in case it quietens down but it's not looking like that at the moment. I gave the first scarf I knitted to my sister -she was very impressed. The new one is varigated shades of blue and is very pretty. I may keep this one for myself.

MizT, I'm glad to hear that Al is improving even if it is just baby steps.

Tami, I hope you get to enjoy your summer holiday this year. You have to make the most of the time you can spend with the boys especially when they are teenagers. Before you know it they don't want to be around their parents.

I was interested in the chat about curfews as I never had one and never set one for my boys. Mostly I was driving them somewhere and picking them up later anyway.
Once they could drive the only stipulation (apart from not drinking and driving) was that if they were staying overnight then they must send me a text to let me know. They don't bother with that anymore and if they aren't home in the morning I'm sure they'll arrive eventually.

I really wish I could be there for the BBQ for Sayles. He and I have a lot in common. Besides being a horse owner/breeder (Standardbreds...trotters/pacers) he's also a dog show judge.
