Darn, I lost a long post!

Good Evening, Fellow Sudokuaholics!

I'm reading page 62, so I'm a day behind.

Suzy and Theresa got caught up on some yrdnual. Suzy let the dishwasher do some work for her. Theresa had a great day with nice weather and was able to get outside and rearrange her dirt, but the lilies have gone missing. I hope you find them Theresa! Broni suggests a (hopefully low maintenance) rock garden, which Theresa has been considering, but worries about weeds rearing their ugly (or sometimes cute) heads in between. MizT suggested 3 or four sheets of newspaper as mulch, which should help!

Suzy's dogs have new beds and Shadow has a new coat.

Tami had a busy day! Is Harley still taking obedience class, Tami?

Heidi planted some peonies by her new patio! Theresa also likes peonies. She has some deep pink peonies! MIzT also likes peonies, but has only had them at one house. Peonies remind me of the house where I grew up; there were some on the lot line, so I'm not sure if they were "ours" or our neighbors, but I liked them and watched the ants crawling on the buds.

Bean dropped by! We enjoyed the brief visit and must remember to tell her: dear Bean!

Broni was swearing all day and worrying about Poss driving back, as his phone was off. Poss arrived safely, apologized and hopefully all was forgiven! Happy Belated Birthday, Poss!

Suzy, I hope Alie's scrapes and grazes aren't too painful and she was able to get them completely clean! Band practice on a long board . . . good thing she wasn't playing a guitar at the same time!

Rolanda's heater has come in from the shed, but wasn't used right away, though the patio heater was! Sounds like a fun dinner party!

Theresa was unsure about voting in the election! We know you'll do what you think is best, Theresa!

Vicki is home from bonding with her sister! Welcome back, Vicki! Sounds like you two had a good time! Love Theresa's comment about manicure scissors being a weapon of mass destruction!

June and Ken had a lovely dinner with Glenn (Winter Springs) and his two daughters!

Well, that takes care of page 62! I don't have the energy to even look at page 63. Will just say Good Night, Dear Friends! Take care of yourselves and those you love! {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, prayers, positive thoughts and to all!

Good morning all. I went to sleep last night before the big news. I woke up, brought the paper in, and saw the headline "He's Dead" in big, bold letters. Last time I found out about a death from the newspaper first thing in the morning it was about John Lennon. For some reason, I enjoyed today's headline

Julie, Harley has obedience class every Saturday morning for an hour. He has 3 more weeks and the lessons are guaranteed. If he doesn't pass, he comes back until he does.

Tami, I was playing on the computer and saw a headline, turned on the news channel straight away, a few minutes later I saw Obama do his speech thing as it happened - the time difference really helped this time. Our news went nuts interviewing 'experts' trying to find something else to say just so they could keep basically saying 'he's dead!'

Suzy, same interviews of experts happened here, but both before and after Obama spoke. He scheduled a 10:30 pm eastern time news conference, he did not speak till midnight or later eastern time. Lots of dead air time to fill.

Heidi is who gave us the heads up, thank you Heidi. I happened on computer before turning it off for the night and read her post. I turned TV to network stations, hubby has it connected to computer for TV shows we cannot get, and we waited for Obama to speak.

Tami, how is Harley doing in his classes? Also need to ask how you are doing with his classes Hope he is a bit more settled. Being consistent at home is so important with training a pup. That is a lot to add to your busy schedule.

Fingers not going where i tell them this morning, so many underlined words. Forgive, please, if I or spell check miss some.

Rolanda, a new trim is noteworthy. I have so enjoyed the 4 inch trim Al did on mine. hope you enjoy the cut as much as I have enjoyed mine,

Julie, don't you hate when you have typed in a long post and it goes missing? Thanks for typing it in again, love your summaries. Reminds me of things I had forgotten.

Theresa, isn't it nice to have that first cup on the patio? Here, I cam go out in winter when the temp is still a bit cool but the sun is blazing down and no wind. Come summer, I would have to be up at sunrise to enjoy the outside.

YEAH, Al has enjoyed the taste of something today, a first since chemo. Said "this is the best cup of coffee I have ever had". Perhaps this is the beginning of his taste buds returning to normal, I do hope so!

Good Maen everyone! Good news for the world this morning is an understatement, Theresa! (but correct!!) God Bless the Military!!
MizT: Glad to hear Al is getting taste back!! It's amazing the things you miss when you go thru chemo...How's his appetite?? Has that returned too??
Haven't been here much, probably won't be for a while. Stress with the agents we had hired. One did NOTHING, one told us to lower our price by over $25,000...We fired him! Found out one of the ladies in the Red Hat Society is an agent. Called her Friday, trying to coordinate. Keep fingers crossed, say prayers, etc!! Hope everyone is fine, getting better, etc.

Have to run to the store when the rain lets up. I found a new recipe for pork chops that I want to try for hubby, but I am out of pork chops. It calls for tart apples and maple syrup - I think he'll like it. He has been working so hard and I want to surprise him. If it turns out well I will try to remember to post it.

Our local paper has a new recipe every week and the recipes are practical and relatively easy to make.

Last night I was on the Owl Cam & chat site, watching the newest resident of the owl box. Roy is a young male, trying to find a mate for the first time, and not doing a very good job..... mainly because he's a nut job. He stands in the back of the box, calling at the top of his lungs. As soon as a female arrives outside, he starts doing this hysterically funny dance as well. Several females have shown up, and stepped into the box. He increases the calling and dancing until they approach him, then he jumps on top of them, kicking like crazy until they leave. It was while watching Roy's antics that several people in the chat announced that the president had an announcement, then quickly returned to say that Bin Laden had been killed. That's when I came here to share the news that the world's worst terrorist was finally gone. I was surprised that I'd heard it so much sooner than anyone else here.

Theresa, that sounds good, the pork with apples and maple syrup. I have used apples and pork roast before, but not syrup. Hope it turns out well for you.

I need to find something to thaw for my dinner, I have finished the soup, the part I did not freeze. Time to fling food once again, a bit more ambitiously than warming what is in the fridge, The fridge is bare

Heidi, as I mentioned earlier, we were watching TV programs through computer, previously recorded shows, so we do not get news there. Arriving here to say good night, I saw your comment (thank you) and returned to the TV and asked Al to connect with network TV.

Suzanne, Al is still not eating, but receiving his nutrition through a feeding tube. I make up a formula, the Ensure or Boost they recommend is almost $10 a DAY, so a nutritionist made a recipe for a formula based on Carnation Instant Breakfast. I also add some blended real foods either alone or mixed with the formula. So he is usually not hungry, just "eats" cause it is time.

I gave him about 2 tablespoons of Ice Cream to try a bit ago, he ate it all. Said it did not taste terrible, but tasted like apples more than Ice Cream. He said he is beginning to taste sweet, one of the things taste buds detect, that is very good.

Good morning. I heard the Bin Laden news on the car radio when I was driving. I was in New Brunswick Canada when the towers came down and NY a few weeks later so I understand the American sentiment but I had very mixed feelings yesterday.I know he got what he deserved but I feel there will be a rush for many more to take his place. I am just pleased I am not travelling at the moment.
Hospital appointment at 10am.

I feel the same way you do, June. Even though a lot of his key men had been systematically hunted down, I am sure we have not heard the end of this militant group - it's just a question of who will replace him.

Hubby loved his supper and said it was almost like eating a treat. I guess I will have to make it again. I served it with baked beans that were flavoured with maple syrup. Then butterscotch pudding for dessert.

I am NOT going to vote - a form of protest on my part. We are not fined here if we don't vote.

Off to fix my supper. I am not a big meat eater. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a vegetarian, but I prefer vegetables or pasta.

Morning all,
I actually heard about bin Laden first from an Aussie, but I didn't believe it was even possible until I saw Heidi's post!

MizT, is it hurting Al to eat because it seems like it is time to give you a break.

Theresa, what did your hubby think of the pork chops? I hope he liked them.

June, I notice you didn't choose to buy lobster with Glenn's credit card. Nice friend again. Using his parent's credit card is how boof got in trouble by the way...

Suzie, I knew Glenn had approved of the use. He had suggested this ages ago.
I just googled the pork with apples and maple syrup and found an interesting recipe. Then thought it was a silly thing to do when I have hardly had anything to eat for two days and nil by mouth since midnight. Looking forward to a nice dinner tonight.

Yeah, somebody will take bin Laden's place, but he was a terroristic mastermind. His replacement hopefully will be stopped easier than Osama.

So tired of my slow connection. Our provider has said they will send us a free aerial, which is a lot better than our old provider who basically said 'tough'. We had such a good connection for a while there and this is driving me insane!

Good might friends, time to call it a night.

The good. . . .today there were so many donations of items needed for storm victims taken to a location in Tuscaloosa, they had to stop accepting more. Way to go Alabama!

The bad . . . . 3 men from Florida were arrested in Alabama for stealing from damaged and destroyed homes. they were taking copper wire, front doors, and appliances.

The unbelievable . . . a man saw his two pet German Shepard dogs taken up into the tornado, they were found and are being cared for by a local vet.

Good Afternoon my friends.
Well a successful party for Pete, a few last minute cancellations but those who were there really enjoyed themselves. Made it real simple, steak and chipolatas on the BBQ, crispy Chicken wings in the oven with the garlic bread, heated the baby boiled potatoes in the microwave and smothered with butter, bacon bits and chives with a homemade coleslaw and garden salad. Easy peasy.

Hello, Everyone! I'm getting a late start tonight, so will only read page 63.

Terrific TOPP, June! You must have a great book of quotes!

MizT, sending thanks to your nephew for helping the people who lost their trees and needed them cut up and hauled away. I'm so glad you are feeling better, but remember to pace yourself as you try to get "caught up" with the things that need to be done!

Heidi, I'm so sorry you had a rough night with the dogs due to the storm! I hope your meeting with the person about cutting and baling was productive!

Tami, I hope you enjoy your summer - whatever you end up doing, as I can't picture you sitting around and doing "nothing." You're right - a very expensive weekend!

Suzy, I hope Alie is feeling better and getting the scrapes/grazes covered helped her get through the day at school.

Theresa, I'm so glad you are feeling better!

Heidi, enjoy the time while IH is away!

June, thinking of you as you have your appointment!

I'm glad you had a nice time organised for Pete, Broni, the man's had a bl**dy awful time of it lately.

Great story about the dogs!

Hubby had 'taste' issues when he first started dialysis, back when he was going to the unit to do it. He would often stop off at one of those horrid fast food outlets on the way home, and said the coke syrup they were using lately was different, and metallic tasting. Then he thought the same thing of the shop bought bottles. No-one else was noticing it so we put two and two together and realised it must have something to do with the treatment. It may have either been that they do it more rapidly at the units, or that he is now using a different blood thinner since doing it at home.

Had a lovely mini gathering today as a celebration for Bean's birthday. We met up at the bakery her nephew owns and that Lachie works at. Judy was going to join us too, but unfortunately she didn't make it, so it was just Kate, Bean and I. Lizzy was in our thoughts too.
She is now home BTW. She sent me a message over the weekend saying the docs think her graft is successful, but it looks like she will suffer permanent nerve damage. and
