Hi all!

Remember Suzy, that she is an adult living with you and as such, she needs to pull her weight. If she can't contribute board then she should contribute to the running of the house.
Step back from being her mum. Make her do her own washing, cleaning etc. She can be rostered to cook at least once per week - actually now might be a good time to get Alie to cook once a week as well.
It's only fair that she helps you as I'm sure she expects you to run her around.

I should have checked the numbers.

Remember the right way to approach a problem is with a try angle.

I can't even get my two to leave home.
Number 1 will go in a few months time after the girl has come back from her holiday in Japan. I think they are planning on saving for a few months and then moving to Japan for a while.
Number 2 knows that life is good at home and all he has to do is pay his board. He's very good about helping Kevin with jobs.
I'd like to think that we can move and down-size the house before we move to the nursing home!

Suprisingly, I've just had a call from #1 asking me what I wanted him to do when he got home - apart from unloading the dishwasher. WooHoo.
He's is currently driving around a skeleton of a Muttaburrasaurus (sp?). He had to pick it up for the Kindy.

OH HAPPY TRICIA! I just heard from a friend in Oklahoma, and she barely escaped being in one of the several big tornadoes that touched down in OK today. They say 7 killed, many missing including 2 young children who are being hunted. The one in Ok City hit "around rush hour" and swiped autos off the freeway. I feel certain the death toll will go up tomorrow. I am reading the Oklahoma City Channel 9 CBS website, our local just mentioned it.

Friend said one of the huge tornadoes was heading toward her small town, and just 1/3 mile from her house, it went back up into the clouds, to return to ground some time later. Now perhaps I can sleep tonight.

I lost one post tonight, cannot remember what I said in the one that posted and what I said in the one that did not. site shut down message. not sure what was going on. I will save this one fore I try posting.

Love and hugs to each of you.

I'm off to bed, but just wanted to say that the cream is finally kicking in and giving me some relief.
I didn't get Yahtzee delivered to a sale barn today. The next opportunity will be Friday evening or Saturday morning.

Gail, I hope the migraines disappear sooner rather than later.
As one seems to have passed (touched wood) that stage in life, my migraines now seem to be stressed related.

Suzy, Adult child in the home.
Charge Board ( does not have to be much, it is the principle of paying), make her do her own washing, hanging, folding etc - buy a laundry hamper to put in her room. If her washing ends up in your pile of laundry, remove it and put it in her hamper (I do this with the boy's washing)
What Victoria said, roster for: cooking with both D's, housecleaning with both D's, Dishwashing with both D's.
and most importantly go with the flow, smile with clenched teeth, it really is not worth the WW3!!
I could go on..

Tricia, I am glad to hear that your friend is safe in the Tornado.
You asked the other day about the mini T we had here the other day. Yes we get one or two storms where a very very mini T develops, no where near the size of the ones you get, no where near as destructive. Happens usually around the month of May.

Suzy, I agree with Rolanda about charging board, no matter how all the amount. Also good idea to roster for cooking and cleaning. I still have 3 adult children at home, it gets frustrating at times. I do most of the cooking but the kids take turns clearing up after me.

Don't want to go to work. Want to stay home. Our school district is up for a major scholarship award and my school is one of 4 that the committee is visiting. I DON'T LIKE VISITORS. I just know one of my little darlings will decide to act up and embarrass me. I hope they don't actually come into my class room. Did I mention I don't like visitors.

I have not suffered from a lot of headaches through womanapause. I do get stress headaches, and I used to suffer with migraines when I was in my 20's. It's those darn hot flashes, especially at night, that really bother me.

Oops, morning all.

June, my niece does belong to the MS Society, but from what I understand they are not willing to help with funding for this treatment because it doesn't have government approval as yet. She is able to get around with a walker for now, but she would like her life back and wants to try this treatment. I don't blame her. She is 9 months older than my daughter. From the reports I've read about this treatment, there are some good results.

Suzy, we have a new Canadian Tire opening up in our Walmart mall this weekend - the old one is smaller. Here we tend to call it Crappy Tire because they sure could use lessons in customer service. We don't go there anymore unless we have no other option. One time a young employee was helping us locate something there and as we are thanking her, the manager came along and basically told her to go back to work!!!!

Oh no Suzy, adult child at home. My sisterIL just got rid of her 25 year old son after basically threatening him. When she found out she was getting married again (this June), she gave him 8 months to look for another place. She didn't want to start married life with a grown son living at home. She charged him $300 a month for board. He had to pay his own car insurance, gas, clothes, and if he didn't like what was on the menu for meals, he had to buy his own stuff. It was a hard time for her because her son figured if he was paying her money, he had a right to treat the place like his. She put her foot down: my house, my rules. I wish you luck my friend. I don't want to discourage you any further, but you HAVE to set the rules down right away.

Suzy, when you called Dimitri "my kitty" a few days ago, I think you meant it. He is definitely a sweetie and, dare I say it, a keeper.

MizT, so glad your friend is okay. What a worry!

Gail, wahm - is that a synonym for whine? If so, the expression we use here is would you like a little cheese with that whine?

Tami, not too many days to go before the summer holidays. You can do it, girlfriend!!!!

Hope everyone feels better soon - you know who you all are. Off to have my third cup of coffee outside.

Gail, now play nice. Tami can come here to vent any time she wants, even if only about visitors in her class room. I can see how that would be a big bother. Kids of any age can decide to act out, or be little angels, when you have guests. You just never know! Hope all is well today Tami and you do not have the visitors in your class room.

Suzy, you do need a quite room, that is much too much noise! Here just AC and fans plus TV gets to be too much and I have to leave. do our ears get more sensitive when we got older? When we are stressed??

Broni, you mean a bonfire to get rid of throw away stuff? I like the sound of that, would be inspiration for me to find throw aways so I could burn! But hubby has said no more burning. Someone we will not name, put a large plastic container that once contained Canadian whiskey into my paper trash bin. There were enough fumes inside, it was a small bomb, blew the burn barrel into. He said all my fault and I cannot burn again. Even through I do not agree with that, no more burning to keep the peace here. You go girl, you burn sll you want to, big pile of ffuts, call me and I will hop down to help hehehe. Us pyromaniacs have to stick together.

I do hope the death tole in OK, and now Arkansas, does not get higher as today goes on. I watched a video of helicopter flying over the path, and so much of Oklahoma is empty, pastures and farmland and lakes. When there were communities that I saw, small cluster of homes. Destroyed, yes, but not like Joplin and Tuscaloosa and other Alabama cities that were hit heavily populated areas, So glad of that.

Did you know that Oklahoma has public storm shelters? If you do not have your own, and many do, you can go to a shelter. Often in basements of public buildings. Oklahoma has many more tornadoes on the ground than Alabama but usually smaller and you can see them coming for miles and miles.

Time to so ffuts, make Al's feedings and run that dish thing. Later friends and hugs to each of you.

Spent time before I went to bed googling triple negative cancer and latest treatment. A cancer generally associated with Afro/American and Hispanic people (Non of those in our family). Becoming more common in 40-50 year old. Now I wonder why I am awake at this time .
They are starting to do more research on this cancer now. Even progress in the last three years.

June, I do hope you are sleeping soundly now, you need it friend. Cancer research at bedtime is not conductive to a good night's sleep you know. Huge hugs to you and your family.

Yep, June, big bang.

Heidi, perhaps cause I made the cool explosion and not him? Cause the neighbors heard it and came out to see what was going on? He was afraid I could have got hurt? All of the above??

I was well away from it, up on our back porch, watching the fire from the shade. I never leave a fire unattended even if it is in a burn barrel.
