Hi all, bit late today so you have probably all gone after having a nice chat. Welcome to these pages Bean.
I have a fiber optic tree and I had Laura help me put it up when she was here last Saturday. She does not like the lights on so keeps turning them off.

STELLA, your post card tree is wonderful and so creative! How many photos did you take to get that just right? the ones down the side are just right, to make the shape of the tree! You put a lot of thought into that and I hope your daughter appreciated the work!

SUZY, good luck on the planned surgery, and hope your recovery is uneventful. I have not seen when you go in and when you will be back home, other than sometime first week December. let us know just when and we will come hold your hand, virtually at least!

OH, sorry DINO, seems I missed putting out the coffee, so just for you and others in need, coffee, tea and chocholate comming!
Stella, loved your BIG tree!
BEAN, left you a little welcome message on your page. Good to have you here in SA3, glad you found us! Hope to see you often and perhaps find a time for a chat.
Huumm, I need Christmas Smilies! Well, put that on the list after finishing that tote for my quilting friend, and putting decorations on the tree, and wrapping spme pressies, and shopping vor MORE stuff , and. . . and. . .
It seems it is now the busy season! I am on a work/rest schedule today, so not to over work these old bones that have been complaining. so far, yesterday and today are good days, but later today another storm. Seems the storms are triggering a flare each time they come through, and I DO NOT HAVE TIME FOR THIS!
Rest time over, back to work on something!

I did get one more pocket on my tote, yeah! New product I am trying and makes getting the body of the tote fed under the needle a challenge, but maybe I can finish it soon. NO MORE HOME MADE GIFTS this year!

Good morning all! Just stopping in briefly as I have to rush to church and then drop Brendan off for his ride back to school. (yeah! his RA lives a couple of towns over and said she would give him a ride back!) D#1 and D#2 left a little bit ago and hubby is driving them back. I think they left with more stuff than they came home with!
No more homemade gifts MizT? And I was just going to ask you to make me one! hehe Yes, those were the days of the timer posts. It seems years ago rather than just months!
Hope everyone has a great day!

Hi all.
A big SA welcome to Bean, glad you found us.
Christmas trees, mine goes up after Amber's birthday on the 2nd. I used to get a real tree but now I have an artificial one(less mess)and my tree doesn't have a theme. I have decorations that were my MIL's parents. I have some that I bought for my first Christmas on my own(over 20 yrs ago). Some my Mom made. And of course the ones the kids have made. It's a real mishmash. I love it.
I also have some light up houses that my MIL gave me when she was still alive. This year I found some people for them so now it won't look like a ghost town.
When gumball(S#2 for those who don't know) was little, I always had balloons still around at Christmas. His birthday is 18th Dec. I once lived next door to someone whose daughter had the same bday and discovered I wasn't the only one to have balloons for Christmas.
Enjoy your day.

Looks like there's nobody home at the moment, but the room looks great. Has somebody been decorating for Christmas around here?
Speaking of Christmas trees; oours in a silk tree we bought about 12-13 years ago and still looks as good as the day we bought it. It hasn't gone up historically until after all our Dec bdays: Hubby 12/2; S#1 12/10; brother 12/12; S#2 12/15. But since S#2 is now married and no longer living here, we could put our tree up after 12/10. Have to see what hubby says as I just sit back & watch & "direct".
It's interesting that here in the South people put there decorations up the day/weekend after Thanksgiving. Up North, where hubby & I were both raised, it was not uncommon to put your tree up on Christmas eve, though the remainder of decorations went up earlier. So, we are kind of caught in the middle of the two.
I just realized that everybody is probably at Linda's bday party; maybe if I hurry I can get there for a while.
Be back later.

Hi Cyndi
When I was young my family didn't put up the tree until after my December birthday. Now that I'm old enough to wish I wasn't getting any older it goes up much earlier!

Good morning all! Up early this morning since S#2 had a hard time getting up. The other 3 are back at school. It feels kind of wierd that they're gone, but they'll be back home for Christmas break in a few weeks. Unfortunately, we forgot to take the Christmas picture. When I was going to take it, they were busy and wanted to do it later and then somehow I forgot! I think I'll send D#2 the post card tree since she hasn't gotten any mail at school yet. I haven't figured out what to send D#1 since she doesn't get mail either and that's why I sent the postcards last year. It's nice to get mail, especially when you're studying for finals.
Have a great day!

Hi Stella, the photo of your Christmas tree is wonderful. To be able to have a tree that size is not something which can happen in a normal home in England, rarely do you get such high rooms. And to have a real tree the smell must have been great (I love the smell of real Xmas trees) I only have a 6ft artificial tree, mainly because of the cost of real ones here. To buy a decent 6ft tree would cost nearly £100 ($200) and I can use that sort of money on other things.

Brenda, the kids still love the real trees but we haven't been able to find any and the price has gone up so much! We never paid more than $25 for them because we cut our own. Last year the small precut ones were $75, so we figured we might as well use the artificial one we have rather than spend that money on a small tree. The problem is that all of the ornaments don't fit on the smaller tree, so now I have to rotate the ornaments!

"I can see clearly now the rain has gone" and it is sunny and bright out! I haven't succeeded in getting the Christmas decorations out of the attic yet because I found all of the boxes I took out for my niece of kids clothes in front of them! Now I have to get rid of those clothes because she is moving to Panama and won't need them. The clothes were the best of the best when the girls were little. I just hope that somebody can put them to good use!

Busy buys here today. Huumm, did I say Happy birthday to Julie? I said Happy to someone, somewhere, but appears it was not here. So belated Happy Birthday Julie!
I think I shall go shoping for a bit, in REAL stores. I have shopped all day and half of last night online. boy, too many choices, easy to get overwhelmed!
DCecorating is done, not that I do much other than the tree. the more I drag out, the more I have to remove to make room for it, and store away. the more I store away, the more I have to drag back out to put away the decorations when christmas is over. so i do enough to make me happy and forget about the rest!

I feel much better now! I usually spend a couple of hours playing sudoku and reading the news before my day starts with the kids. Today youngest is off on her first ever overnight school camp so my day didn't start as usual. Have been going through withdrawal as I only got through easy and medium earlier. All better now...

Hello, Everyone! I am overwhelmed by the birthday greetings I received yesterday (my birthday in Oz-time) and today. Thank you all so much! I hope in the next week or two to visit pages and leave individual thank-yous, but in the meantime, this will just have to do. Special thanks to SA3 regulars: Brenda, Suzy, Mamacita, Stella, June, Ruby, dino, Lynda, Cyndi, vdV, Rolanda, Gail, MizTricia, Becky, Rena, Mary. I apologize if I missed anyone. Hopefully I'll be able to visit here a little more frequently, but I make no promises due to all the little extras we need to fit into our lives this time of year.
