Good evening all. Just stopping by before the usual food flinging starts.

Brenda, hope you're feeling better. Don't forget to get enough rest and fluids.

Stella, this may sound stupid, but could the battery just need to be recharged? If the computer got wet throughout, tell her that it will probably take a couple of days for it to dry out. If just the battery got wet, take the battery pack out and turn the laptop unside down and let it totally dry out. All the above suggestions were taken from my manufacter's website. As long as the computer wasn't on when it got wet, there shouldn't be any longterm damage. BTW, she won't be able to use it until it is dry. Hope this helps.

I'm not sick, so that's a plus. Still haven't gotten my decorations out yet. Tried to dig through the attic earlier, but it was just too cold. Will have to wait for hubby to get all of the boxes.

Gail, I left a message for Hannah on her page. I didn't realize she had a page until I saw your picture. Somehow I missed it!

Know what you mean about the cold. The temp dropped again yesterday, after 2 days of solid rain. Last night the wind just howled around here. Got a trace of snow today.

I gave a lot of my decorations away, so only putting up the 2 foot tree.

Hello Mary, Stella and Becky..

Kids who leave things to the last second..
Stella, Son #2 is the same. His last Uni assignment was due in, he got to uni discovered the papers still at home. phoned and me to scan and email to him. Me was not home at that moment. A couple of hours later, when was home, did the scaning, and emailing. meanwhile the computers had a hissy fit at Uni, in the end he got his brother (working at Uni) to print and hand in by the required time.

I have not even looked at the Christmas Tree and Decorations yet, or written a Christmas Card. Have bought some pressie, and even wrapped them, so prying eyes can not see what it is.

I just sent an email to my family on both sides wishing them a Merry Christmas and giving them D#1, D#2 and S#1's addresses at school in case they wanted to include them when they did their cards. I did that last year as well for D#1 because she had never recieved any mail and my brother said it was offensive to ask them to send her a card. I never saw his point and I sent it to him again this year anyway. Hopefully, out of the 15 family members, they'll get a card or two. I have to use the picture for the Christmas cards of us at the dinner table for Thanksgiving (even tho I'd prefer just the kids) because the last picture of them together before that is at Brendan's graduation! (I must be slipping!)

Stella, your brother said it was offensive to make his niece's address available? Hmmm. I don't see his point either. Glad you sent the addresses again...

`How many nieces and nephews do your brother and his wife have, Stella? Multiply that by the cost of stamps and cards. Add the time it takes to address, sign and write a quick note in each. This may add to some understanding of your brother's reaction. Or maybe not.

Maybe kids at college do not get real mail cause they all correspond by e-mail now?

My sister was asked for the address to her youngest at school, and she said she does not even know it! has his e-mail and his cell phone, that is good enough, she said. I thought that was a sign of the times

Was reading an article earlier today about a woman who lost 500 lbs through surfing the net. NO, she didn't forget to eat, she rebuilt her self-esteem by 'talking' with people who judged her by her insides not her outsides. Unfortunately a woman placed a comment next to the article and included ALL of her contact details, including her home address!! I marked the comment as a violation hoping it would be removed - for her sake. Unfortunately it is still there! The poor woman will be the target of every scam artist out there!!!

I've never sent cards to any of my nieces/nephews, but I have asked for their addresses. Their parents didn't think of it and didn't even send anything to their own kids. In today's times, email and cellphone is the norm, but it is so much the norm, that it is nothing special. Last year when I sent D#1 a postcard a day and a care package full of goodies, all of her friends said they wished they had gotten something. It's extra special nowadays to recieve mail because it is so unusual and takes some effort. The intent is to make them feel good and that they are thought about.

Ruby, that might be the case for me because of the expense, but not for my brother. His wife is a doctor, his son (same age as D#1) never went to college and is not living at home, so they don't even have that extra expense.

Suzy, that's terrible. I wonder why someone would post that information.

Stella, can remember getting mail while in college. A couple of us would go across campus after lunch. Even then it was a thrill to get a letter. Even have good memories from those little treks with friends.

Was just thinking, maybe we could send you e-mail Christmas cards for your daughters and son. You could print them out and send them in care packages. Something a little different.

When I was putting up the possibilities, I was getting random 'D's all over the place, so I have printed it out.

Good morning all! I don't know if I should try the 16 x 16, it sounds confusing! Light dusting of snow which is on top of all of the freezing rain we got yesterday. Cold this morning, only 16F.
Becky, D#1 took the battery off and just plugged it in and it worked. She then backed everything up on the school's server. Apparently, she had the 10 page paper backed up, but the school doesn't recognize the word processing program she uses, Corel. That's the one she likes. I used to use that one as my favorite, but hubby never put it on my computer so I just use Word now.
The new avatar finally came through! Now I feel in sync with the season.

Hi all.

Just finished the 16x16. Was expecting a great picture, instead a little congratulations message. Whoopee.

Stella, glad to hear that the computer isn't broken. Also, I like your Santa hat.
