Gail, how was the lo-cal dessert? Found a recipe for no-bake cheesecake. Not as tasty as the real, but will do in a pinch.

IAN, I do not think we are having the trouble we had with the high numbers of posts before. I think maybe the new server Gath put us on is doing a good job. but if we get gremlins again, we shall ask for a new page.
Anyone having problems with posts not going through? Pages not refreshing? or other problems?

Morning all on this drizzly miserable day, first day of summer Down Under! Back on the barbecue theme, spit roast is lovely but how about the Maori way, the hangi?

OK, Lynda, what is the Maori way? Can't drop in tidbits like that and then leave, come back and explaine yourself? Would be interested to know more about that, please.

Anybody?
Sorry I haven't been around much lately. It's been awfully late before I can get to the site for some reason; usually around 11:00pm our time, 3:00pm Oz time (I, think). By the time I read the comments on Easy and do the puzzles, there's never anybody around--kinda like now, maybe. But, I have looked in when I could. I don't even try to go back too far to determine the conversations, just a page or so sometimes. Hope everyone is keeping well and busy.

Well no-one's been here for over 3 hours, so I guess I'm alone and talking to myself.
It has been a lovely start to summer and
I have spent most of the day singing and meeting a new group of people. It was great fun.
Now its just me and Merlin.

Sorry MizTricia, the Maoris dig a pit, lay in wood and stones (big stones that won't break in the heat) then they set light to the wood. It burns down and leaves very hot stones. The food is placed in baskets and tins on to the stones, covered and earth is put back over it. The food cooks in the heat of the stones. It takes a long time to prepare and a long time to cook. Also you don't need to live on rock as the holes is quite deep. The food is so tender. We have some local New Zealanders who do hangis for local parties.

Have now finished the Christmas cards so will post tomorrow (except for some overseas ones that need more stamps) I do about 90 cards so that is a big job out of the way.
May have more time to post when others are about.

Just realised I was talking about putting cards in the 'post' , then refered to "posting" on this site. A bit confusing. Should read more carefully before hitting "submit"

My early morning comment now looks a bit strange but when I brought up the page there were the 1-201 numbers and Ian's comment without any avatar and then the next 1-201 that are at the bottom of the page. It just looked as though the numbers were repeated twice!

Would have loved to be in Melbourne tomorrow for the Christmas bash. Thought hard about it but still not as mobile as I would like and have trouble walking any distance, especially if I have to hurry. Some long walks at airport terminals!
Also had not organised my Christmas shopping for my Melbourne Grandsons.

YEAH JUNE, your first CP?
I know just what you mean about long walks at airports. That, and the long day of travel and wait with plane changes and handeling luggage, and the fear of being stuck on a runway in a hot lane for hours kept me from traveling alone to a quilting buddies meeting this year. What we need is a " beam me up, Scottie" machine! From Star Treck movies? the transporter, remember that?

'Beam me up Scottie' - wouldn't that be the way to go! I could manage to be everywhere at once particularly if I had a Tardis and Dr Who as my escort! I haven't said eh or nay to the Melbourne Christmas bash and I'm trying to find the energy, the transport there and a myriad of other things...hate to miss a party tho.
I'm very impressed with June having completed her Christmas mail!! I'm still trying to finish the Thank You note's following my mothers death at the end of July. The days just don't have enough hours in them!

LYNDA, thank you for information about hangis, that food method sounds like a New ?England Clam Bake, where a hole is dug and clams and potatoes, carrots, onions and other foods are cooked in a pit with hot rocks or old cannon balls to hold the heat! They also use seaweed to cover the food, then wet canvas or potato sacks, so it is actually steamed instead of baked. Do they use seaweed in hangis?
isn't this also like the Hawaiins and polynesians cook for a luau? Put a pig in a pit? Huumm maybe i should look that up, but later.

HI BEAN, good to see you post. yes, we could travel about and visit for tea, and be home by bedtime if we had the transporter! AND rearranging our molecules and filtering out alien stuff( impurities, free radicals and such) as our molecules are put back together, we could eliminate a lot of our aging and medical problems too!
Wonder how long the lines to check in would be?? Would there be weather delays?

MizT, I don't think there would be weather delays. I'm sure they could come up with something else, though. The lines would be interminably long so don't forget to make a reservation.
I didn't get any choccies. Anybody care to share?

Tomorrow is Amber's 10th birthday. She keeps asking if I wrapped her presents, yet, and are we putting up the tree. I usually wait until after her birthday but we aren't having a party at the house this year, so tomorrow it is. Wish me luck, I hate doing the lights.

"Beam me up" would be great, especially at this time of year!
June, I can't believe you're done with your cards! I haven't even started mine yet! I did send out a card to D#2 today and I included the bottom row of the tree. With D#1, I sent a postcard a day so she would have mail. I'm picking D#2 up on the 13th so that won't work.
Still haven't gotten the decorations out. Stuff keeps interrupting! Good luck Rena putting up yours!
Early start this morning since S#2 had soccer practice in Albany (1/2 hour south) at 7:45am. Went shopping while he was at practice and then stopped at a few stores on the way home as well.
At least a few things were accomplished!
Well, back to various stuff. Have a great day and weekend!
