Every time I have a quick look in everyone seems to have gone. I think it must be that time of year when we are all busy.

Hi all, I am still in the land of the living but only just. This flu bug has left me with a horrible cough, if I smoked you would think I smoked 60 a day the way I cough. Weather here wet windy and cold.

Good morning all! Cold, 7F, this mornng! When it's this cold, I prefer lots of snow. The cold seems so much better when there is snow. Progress is at a snail's pace re the decorations, but little by little it is getting done!
Have a great day!

Stella, with your low temps, you need a nice warm cup of something! Coffee Tea and chocolate available, have a cup and relax.

I am still slowly wrapping gifts. Not up to my usual this year, where I mess with lots of paper and wired ribbon fancy bows and flowers and other interesting tidbits to come up with unique and pretty packages. Hubby bought me lots of colored boxes and bags, and even with that it is a slow go. hands just do not want to go where I want them to go this year,
or they complaine if I try to get them under control.
Oh well, they are presents, they are wrapped and only a few people will even notice the difference. me being the main one hehe

Rest time is over, back to do a couple more.

have fun whatever you are doing today!

Maen all. Just a drop in as I have been reading the news and it's now time to help get the kids ready... Some sad stuff in the news today, I liked the pharmicist story more than the stories I saw! Though I thought it was interesting that the city I had my op in got 95mm of rain in 2 hours yesterday!!! (nearly 4 inches)

Gday Suzy, good to see you back.
What sad news? I'm an ostrich, head in the sand! Don't take much notice of news. I figure if I can't do anything about it, I don't worry about it.

Hi Suzy and Gail!
I try not to pay attention to the news, it's usually depressing, especially this time of year.

Peace on Earth, good will toward men! If everyone in the world said this, only good will happen.

Watching "Grey's Anatomy" then off to bed. Mailing care packages tomorrow to the kids.

vdV, lovely human decorations at your house! the children are prescious. Liked the electric decorations also.

now, tell me, are the lights set in sync with music that one can listen to on thier own AM car radio as they drive past? It just seems like something you could do and do well. House looks very festive with the lights, whether they dance or not.

Good morning all, a chilly 43F/6C with a forcast of 63/17 for a high today. gee the low for tomorow morning is HIGHER than today by almost 15 degrees and match yesterdays HIGH , guess we are in for a warming period. Warm up and rain, I just hope we get the rain from it. gotta fill those resivoirs and cattle ponds, so not so much dependsnce here on piped in water for the animals. although our water sourceis not affected by the drought, our system's pumping capacity is not equal to demand at present. Cattle take a LOT of water, get the ponds filled, demand will go down again.

Now if water rationing goes into effect, who would get more, cows or people?

TOPIC for DISCUSSION:

what is the price of eggs in your area and how much an increase have you seen?

Medium eggs were over $2 a dozen, more than doubled of a few months ago! I thought they were high at $1 a dozen. Jumbo, organic or free range or brown eggs up around $3 a dozen. I had hoped it was just Increased demand at Thanksgiving, but looks like it will extend through Christmas. Eggs are doubly high for me, if I use eggs for hubby, I toss the yolks or feed to the cats, and it takes 2 egg whhites to make one egg equilivant. I did find some soon to expire egg whites on mark down, and will use those up freeding him his egg white omlets and home made "egg McMuffins" with no sausage or bacon, fat free cheese and egg whites on whole wheat english muffins. I think this is his favorite breakfast, reminds him of his fast food days hehe.

Best be off and make same , he needs to be up and about soon.

OH DEAR, I hope my now corrected typo is not a prophecy. I typed he needs to be up and abutt soon!

MizT and Ruby, our high today is supposed to be 35. Just finished shoveling the driveway (again). Another 2 inches overnight.

Large eggs are about $1.29. When they're on sale, $1. Last year at this time I was buying them 3 dozen for $1. Organic eggs here are over $3. a dozen.

How about a loaf of bread? Here it is almost $4 for a 'brand-name'loaf from a large bakery. Some local bakeries are cheaper, chain bakeries more expensive, and store brand loaves cheaper (but you get what you pay for). The drought is blamed.

I don't know the price of eggs anymore as we have chickens.

SUZY, I am thinking of getting chickens. One problem though. Neighbor had chickens a while back and something , probably a fox, was getting into his fenced back yard and killing them. At $6 and UP for buying a chicken, then feeding it to laying size, buying eggs might be cheaper

Bread, now that is another matter, it too is going up and up. I pay $1.50 at Wal-mart for Wheat bread, and name brands are 2.89 up and 100% whole wheat designer breads even more. I might have to go back to making cornbread and biscuits ( scones), and have thought of finding a bread machine. I think I can get the cost per loaf way down, but first I need a bread machine with a mixer powerful enugh to stir such a heavy dough.

Hello, Everyone! This is just a quick Hi, as my computer died, and I can borrow about a half hour of use on this one per day. I'm having SA3 withdrawal! Happy Birthday to anyone celebrating in the past or future week or so. Just wish I could get ready for the holidays. Hope to "see" you all again soon!

Remember the season, ladies. MizT., maybe Santa can find you a bread maker/oven or one of those big mixers with a bread hook. Julie, maybe you'll find a shiny, new computer with wide flat screen or a jazzy lap-top under the tree. Santa's watching. You better be good! Ho, ho, ho!

Suzy, I buy a couple of different kinds of bread. Buy the cheap loaf from Aldi for grilled cheeses and stuffing. Hubby won't eat it any other way, insists on heavy breads for everything else. I wait until the $4. loaf is on sale and then stock up. Freeze it into double serving packages.
Here they claim the higher costs are because of the price of gasoline.
