Mary it is a beautiful day here. About 30*c in the back yard and not a cloud in the sky. Played lawn bowls this morning but lost 13-14. A very enjoyable game. Making some cushions for my cane chairs at the moment. Just popping in here occasionally.

Actually I went out in the back yard to take the temperature and cursed because the white cockies have started into the very green grapefruit. Then I noticed that a native noisy minor was caught in some of the netting over the orange tree. Wrapped him in a towel, cut around the netting, brought him inside and extricated all the netting from around his feet and he has now flown on his merry way.

So Mary one little bird thanks you for asking what it is like in the east

I just ran into someone I know from when I was working and he told me sad news. I had been hearing about a woman who died/drowned locally, though her name has not been released. Turns out I have worked with her husband. These things are always tragic, but the feel so much worse when you know the family involved!

WOW June.....you are welcome to lunch with me but my company won't be quite as salubrious!!!!
It is hard when you have grown up with a lot of land around you [780acres in my case] to ever get used to small suburban blocks without 'real' trees.
Must dash, catch you later.

Sally it always hits us when it involves people we know. I heard about a car accident where a woman was killed close to my brother's home and I immediately thought of my nieces. There were not involved, and I was relieved. But there is a family somewhere that is grieving.

lol Bean! Good luck with your search!

Good morning all! The temperature is warm at the moment, 43*F, but it is supposed to drop this afternoon when the rain is arriving, so looks like freezing rain for us!

Nice to see you Mary! Hope all is well with you!
Suzy, it's kind of one of those stomach turning things when you find out a tragedy has hit so close to home with someone you know.
June, good on you to save the little birdie! See, we are angels, guiding each other as to what we need to do!
Mama, it's always so uplifting to read your words!
Dino, nice to have you back. It usually takes a while to get fully back into your own time zone. I remember when we went to Hawaii on our honeymoon, it took us a week to get back into sync.
Gail, Rolanda, MizT, Brenda, Becky, Julie, Ruby, vdV and anyone else I might have missed(sorry), hope all is well and you have a great day!

( pant pant) Hurrying to get here and put on coffee this morning, I am late late!!

Storms went through with few tornadoes, thankfully. Just a lot of wind, a lot of rain, and now it shall turn colder, so they say. Not many even lost power from the winds, so I am thankful. Everything slowed down it was 3 am fore the front passed here, was to have been here and gone much earlier. Sometimes thier "best guesss" is just a guess

Hi MizT, pleased that all you suffered was a disturbed nights sleep. That coffee smells wonderful so I think I will pour myself a cup and savour it. Anyone else want a cup?

Bean, what sort of trees would you plant on this land which we all hope you are going to find soon?
When my first husband died his collegues at work collected for him. We, the family, decided that a fitting memorial for him would be to plant a tree.
He loved to work with oak so that was what we wanted planting. It just so happened that the churchyard next to his office had had to remove a tree earlier that year and it was decided that there would be the ideal place to plant the memorial. The church commissioners gave permission for the tree but suggested that it should be a 'flowering ornamental' tree. My late husband would have hated that as he loved 'real trees', we eventually got our way and planted an oak which was 5 years old (the same age as our son) it will be 21 yrs old now. I haven't seen it for quite a few years as I moved 200 miles south and don't get up there very often. I intend to go this year to see how it is doing.

Suzy, sorry for your loss.
Good luck in your land hunt, Bean. Communing with nature, even fully clothed, is good for the soul. (I wonder if we should feel for Gail's poor neighbors.)
Stella, how's the car situation?

Dino, it's funny you slipped up and said Sally. After never knowing a 'Sally' in my life I now have two friends with that name. It can get confusing when the kids take messages and don't write down which one it was!

Hi, Rolanda, Mary, June, Suzy, Bean, dino, Gail, Stella, MizTricia, Brenda, Ruby, Becky, Rena, Cyndi, and all others I am forgetting! (Sorry, folks, it's after midnight here, and I'm about to head to bed.) Suzy, I'm so sorry to hear about the death of your colleague's wife. It is so much more difficult when it hits close to home! Dino, continued prayers for Ecie! I hope it doesn't take much longer for you to readjust to Oz time! Stella, how is the car? I hope it doesn't need exorbitantly priced repairs! MizTricia, I'm so glad the tornadoes have missed you! Brenda, what a great idea to plant a tree, and oak is such a good choice! Bean, good luck with the search for the perfect parcel! Land and trees are so important!

I hope everyone is feeling well! Suzy, I'm sure there's some reason why you gave permission for one more activity. At some point you will think back and decide you must have just KNOWN that it was important for that child to be doing that!

Good morning all! Still raining/freezing raining, but the roads are fine. It was the bearings on the rear wheel. They are sealed, so even the recent repair from the accident, the rotating of tires and the inspection wouldn't have shown it. We ended up replacing both rear bearings since they weren't supposed to go and they say once one goes, then the other might as well. $400 for the tow and the bearings! When hubby used the kid's car (our van can't be parked at work it's too big for the parking garage), the brakes were definitely a problem. So last night we had those checked, replaced, for $200. Hopefull, both are good to go now!

Brenda, what a lovely tribute to your husband. It will be lovely seeing how it is doing. Ruby and MizT, glad the bad weather missed you guys. I saw on the news how bad some areas got hit! Suzy, what was the additional activity? I don't like to limit activities the kids want to do because you never know where there interest might be. Eventually, they all work themselves out!

Have a great day everyone!

Brenda, I don't know about Stella, but we always have a cold snap right before Easter. I heard that the ground in New York is frozen so that the recent rains up there have caused some flooding.

MizT.'s bad weather did get here, somewhat diminished. We had whistling winds and driving rains, and some folks lost power. I lost a few shingles, but a new roof was in the works soon anyway.
