Viv sending major SA vibes for you and your FIL. This process of dying can be so hard. I know we had to give my FIL permission to go, once he heard that, he went peacefully.

Suzy, hope your foot is soon better, Might not be on the scale of Viv;s FIL but it is still important to us, the big things and the small things.

well, doc's nurse called me back, said adding the phenergan and reducing my pain med to 1/2 should help. I had not used the phenergan with my meds, it said for nausea and I was not. We will see how this works, Said to let them know when I come in Wednesday how it is doing.

Hmmm, I haven't noticed any cramping in my toes, but I will pay attention and see if there is some.

June, the top of my foot is high too. I have been trying to remember what shoes I was wearing when I first noticed the pain but it was a very busy day and at first I just blew it off and expected it to go away. I hope once you are with your friends at bowls you feel better and enjoy the game.

By the way, after I talked to mum last night I spent some time with Mr Google and discovered that the suggestions I made to that jerk doctor are EXACTLY the recommended treatment. Arrogant pig!

Good morning all and to Stella, should she call in here.
There's so much going on here in SA at the moment - thoughts and wishes to Doc for his surgery, Heidi - that tooth sounds badly infected, Viv as she sits with her FIL and waits for the inevitable, June's MIL, Suzy's sore foot and I've probably forgotten someone.

Theresa - you asked the other day if my son had found Monty the snake. Yes, he did, a few days later, she was on top of the back door, searching for an exit and when he tried to catch her she was heading for the back of the fridge, obviously her safe haven while she was out. He caught her and she is back in her cage which is now more firmly secured.

Have to go to court tomorrow with my friends to look after their little boy while they are in the courtroom - he's not allowed in. I don't know if any of you remember me telling you that our friends had adopted a little boy from Ethiopia. That was just over a year ago - he is now nearly 2 - and they must go to court tomorrow for the final adoption hearing. After that he will be theirs forever. He is the most glorious child, well-adjusted and much loved by everybody. They are a happy family and he has fulfilled their lives. I'm so happy for them. I'd love to post a picture of him but they are understandably very protective of him.

When I had to say goodbye to Mum because I was coming back home and knew I wouldn't be with her when she finally left us, I whispered in her ear not to stay for us, we would be alright because of the love she had surrounded us with. I told her it's too hard to stay, then I left her and flew back home. She passed that night. ♥
Viv, sending all my love to you xoxo

I have a mild case of Gout. No swelling or redness, but pain and cramping in the top of the feet and in the toes. My brother has a severe case, and it's almost crippling. He's also severely allergic to Gout medications.

Doesn't it always happen? I haven't been able to visit SA very much in days (or even FB for that matter). Today is cool and raining, unusual weather for us, and there's no-one around here to talk to - it's an hour since Heidi posted.

I had a wonderful day...Gail arrived with her famous pav in hand, Kate with a quiche and her splendiferous rice salad, Lizzie with enough nasi goreng to ensure there was plenty of leftovers and Judy lost her head and brought a lemon cheesecake [very good for breakfast] AND a plate of the most delectable little morsels of choux pastry...I love chocolate éclairs... how did she know??? We all felt a tad 'stuffed' at the end of the day...
When I got up I found a very rich chocolate cake on the bench along with a couple of freshly baked baguettes...Lachie went down to the bakery on his night off to work on a 'surprise' for me.

I'd been feeling pretty despondant all week after mum's birthday...I thought that 2 1/2 years after her death I wouldn't be quite so flat... wasn't prepared for it I suppose... previous years because it was so close to her death I had been...

Beanie, you and your Mum had birthday's close together? My Mom and I did also, 9 days apart, in June. Plus to make it harder than, Mom died the day after my birthday. Would you believe that is the only date of death I remember? My father was in late Fall, my brother in early Spring, best I can do. All this to say, I understand how birthdays and holidays can catch you off guard. This year, I have asked my sister to plan lunch out with me, somewhat as a distraction. Sort of give my birthday back to me.

CynB, sorry I was not around when you were posting. Seems as if I am here alone most of the time, also. I just have to imagine everyone being here, I am relieved that the snake was found and returned to captivity.

Gail. as I have been able to talk to people about the dying process, I hear more stories like yours. Thanks so much for sharing.

Rolanda, still looking for a proper post from you! Hope you are doing better.

well, adding the nausea med as the doc suggested, (which also does so many other things), has helped. I do not have the jitters, the anxiety, I enjoyed my dinner for the first time in several days. Pain still with me, it is not terrible, but it is just so constant, unrelenting.

Heidi, I also had a snicker at the mental picture you painted. I do hope you get to your dentist and get some relief tomorrow. I can truly sympathize.

That's OK MizT - I know everybody is busy. I went across to that other page and played games.
Broni - Jorgie is such a nice name.
Rolanda - glad all is well with you and sounds like it is with your Mum.
Re - my friends Ethiopian baby - if you go to my FB page and look amongst my friends for a lady named Regina (won't say her surname here) - there is a family picture of them with the baby and their 2 dogs - one of which, the border collie - has sadly passed since the pic was taken. It is a lovely B&W shot.

Oh, I should have said that the court hearing is just a formality to release the baby into their full custody. We don't expect any complications, the Department is happy with everything.

Hi everyone! Haven't posted here for a while, so a lot to catch up on ... (and I just pushed a wrong button and lost everything I'd typed!!)

CynB, just had a look at your friend's photo - it's lovely! What a gorgeous little boy, sweet looking dogs, beautiful family! Hope all goes well for them.

Heidi, so sorry that you're in pain again, and I hope they can fix the problem quickly.
Suzy, also in pain! That doctor sounds like a complete jerk! Hope you can get some relief soon. And the same for MizT - Get well soon to all the sickies. ♥

Had a great time at Bean's Birthday Bash ... lovely people, gorgeous food - what's not to like! Rob had to leave on a jet-plane, heading interstate, but he got some of the yummy food before he left ... :)

It's dark and wet in Melbourne today - had to turn the lights on! Never mind, I just treated myself to some left-over choc. eclairs and a hot cuppa - Mmmm! :)

Hey, I had something fun happen yesterday and forgot to tell you about it. I was sitting in the car waiting for the girls to get out of school when I heard a contest on the radio - 3 songs to guess which news story they are about. The announcer says she hasn't had anyone call in yet. I knew the answer and won a dinner at Oporto!!

Well done Suzy. Years ago I used to enter competitions on a local radio show. I was quite successful and won a few prizes. After a while I wasn't winning anything, didn't think anything of it as I wasn't really that bothered about the prizes. Late one night I was driving home from a night out listening to a show, I knew the presenter, so I rang him to say how much I was enjoying the choice of music that night. I found out that he was leaving the station and he also hinted at why I wasn't winning any prizes. The station had blacklisted my telephone number (along with a few more), so even though I may have been the winner I wasn't been given the prize.
The presenter must have tipped a newspaper off about what was happening. The radio station wasn't too pleased about the bad publicity they got. To top matters, one of the founders of the station happened to be one of my son's school teachers whom I knew quite well. Strangely the next time I saw him he didn't seem to want to talk to me :-)
