The rain is just starting here and there's a risk of a thunder boom-boom. We badly need the rain. Apparently April was the second driest month for our province in the last 100 years.

I have been absent lately, but I have caught up on the reading. Thinking of everyone!

Hi again! Thanks for the offer, Heidi, but when I posted it here I was booted off! Double trauma! I have no idea what the offensive word was. Naughty corner for me....

Can't stay, I must be away. I'm off to the kitchen to make a pavlova for Bean's birthday, then tidy up because my father is coming to stay for the week. I am so excited to see him again.

Suzanne, Mitchell says that now the is a man (13) you can't have his room longer than 1 night. That is all he is willing to spend sharing a room with his brother.

Morning everyone.
A beautiful day here for June's visit.
I am looking forward to meeting you June and Ken.
Just checked with my niece who called on FIL this morning to collect his washing for me.
We had a great couple of hours with him yesterday.
My niece and nephew visited and a neighbour and at one stage he was laughing.
Must remember to take my camera.
Catch you all later.

Morning all!
I've finished a cup of coffee so I can post now. Yesterday really tired me out - in a good way.

Happy Birthday Bean!

Drop in more often Kathy!

June, that sounds wonderful... Say hi to Viv from me too. Actually, looking at the time you won't see this until after you've seen her - never mind...

Gail, I'll have a piece of that pavlova, send it over this way please!

Tami, I can see that becoming a 'man' at 13 could cause problems in a house!

Mitchell needs to know that if he gets the privileges of being a "man", he should also have the responsibilities.

By Jewish tradition when a boy becomes 13 he is considered a man and responsible for following Jewish law. That is what the Bar Mitzvah celebration is about. He is not a "man" yet anyplace but in temple. He likes to think he is a man and my job is to make sure he learns what it really takes to be a man.

Hello All, Tami...I loved your post...too many parents fail to recognize their roles or just simply don't bother, choosing to make excuses instead. The parents here are busy doing what should be done...kudos to all.
Glad to hear of all of the heath improvements going on... Prayers will continue and Suzanne, here our prayers cover any and all in need. You are always included as is your family.
Good to see Kathy drop in and to see and hear Heidi so full of good news, of course the hitting of the thumb was a necessary evil to help balance all of the good stuff going on...lol....Good luck to Doc on Tues...will be thinking of him.
I'm sure there is more, but I will only remember after I close this out...I'm tired and going to try to go to bed a little earlier...its now 10 pm so I'd better get a move on. See you all when I se you...Peace and safe travel to those on the go.

It has been a huge weekend here, starting with going to the Tea Club after Tae Kwon Do training on Thursday night. Friday night Ally had a birthday party, Saturday morning hubby and Ebob had baseball, Saturday lunch time Ally had TaeKwonDo grading (all of the girls rocked!), Saturday night was a fancy dress 18th birthday party (I have put some photos on the other page but will put some here too), and today Ally had her first surfing lesson!

Heidi, are you in the high risk area for tornadoes? I have not checked this morning, need to do that.

Suzy, just reading about your weekend left me tired, should I take a nap for you today?

Tornado watch warning has crept into the north-west corner of our state, Weather requires watching today.

I have lost 6 pounds since this surgery, i do not recommend this as a weight loss plan. I am wondering at the moment just why I ever thought this surgery would be a good idea. Perhaps it will be better when the pins come out Wednesday.

Good news is I did get a shower and shampoo. I have hand covering plastic bags that came with the paraffin bath. one of those and some water proof tape, and planning ahead so bath soap and shampoo were in pump top bottles, and I am good to go.

No, MizT, we're not in the high risk tornado area. We only have the flood and flash flood warnings. The thunderstorms are STILL overhead, and the dogs are finally exhausted from panicking. Three of them got tranked this time, so there was less hysteria, but I still didn't get much sleep.

It's gonna take a LONG while before you decide that the surgery was a good idea. Not until you're done with PT, and in less pain than you were before the surgery.

oh Heidi, you are probably right, but I hope it gets better fore then. Right now the problem is how the pain pills are making me feel, agitated and restless, but still hurting. This is same meds that worked fine last week, go figure,

In the end it will be worth it, MizT. I just wish the healing process for you would be swift. Also, it must be a bit terrifying being in a high risk tornado area.

GOOD NEWS STORY ALERT:

I just had a lady stop and ask if she could plant some sunflower seeds in my garden. May is Sexual Assault Awareness Month in this area and the seeds are called Seeds of Change. Since I hadn't fully figured out where everything is going to go at this moment in my garden, plus I have to go out and buy some sheep manure, she gave me the seeds to plant at a later time. Her goal is to plant as many around town as she can with a little sign as to why they were planted. Some people have such big hearts ... she made my day!

Morning all!
MizT, sorry to hear that your hand is still hurting and the pain killers seem to be making things worse instead of better. I hope time changes that. Almost everyone dressed up for the party and I had a packet of vampire teeth for those who didn't!!

Heidi, wishing the thunderboomers away!

Theresa, that is wonderful! Sexual assault, even a minor assault, can be life changing. I should plant some myself. Of course then I will have the galahs and c0ckatoos to deal with.. but maybe it will keep them away from my fruit trees.

Theresa, I do hope you get the sunflowers planted. Where I lived before, I had a 6 year old neighbor who visited frequently. He and I dug a new bed and planted sunflower seeds, against a privacy fence for our deck. They are great seeds for the young gardener, they sprout quickly, and you can see them growing day to day, ours grew 8 feet tall, and were spectacular, Thanks for reminding me of them.

Thanks to Mr Google, I have found that the strange feelings are a side effect of tde pain meds, leave it to me to find one of the more obscure ones. Taking benadryl, as I was doing for the itching from the first med, has helped some. I will phone the doc tomorrow to see what he says. Only place hurting now is that joint, I think where the pins are, and they come out Wednesday. Maybe that will reduce the pain.

Hi all.
Mama and Suzy, thanks for the kind words about my sons. Hubby and I are trying our best to raise normal? well-adjusted boys. We are trying to keep them grounded. Mamacita, you met them both in Daytona. I hope you will be coming down this way soon. I would love to see you again (Mama's son lives about 20 minutes from my mom)
Suzy, I laughed at your comment. Some of the more daring things I owned, my father picked out for me. My parents came home from a 2 week trip to California and they brought me back a pair of black spandex, ultra tight pair of pants from Frederick's of Hollywood. I asked mom if dad knew about the pants and she informed me that HE picked them out. He also bought me my favorite hot pink bikini when I was 14. He brought it home as a gift for me. My dates never realized that my mom was the one they had to watch out for.

What was the theme for that party, Suzy? It looks more like an 80th birthday party than an 18th.

Gil is home, and very unhappy. It has been raining buckets here for days, and his office downstairs flooded AGAIN. It was dry when I checked it yesterday.

Maybe I should just bulldoze the house and start over. It seems to flood downstairs when it rains heavily no matter what we do. I've spent thousands trying to prevent the flooding, and nothing works. The strange thing is that the house is on high ground, and NOTHING drains towards it.
