sorry to hear the downstairs is flooded again. you have had a lot of rain.

on the news, in Nashville, there was a house floating down a freeway, cars floating, boy, water must have come up fast,

Rain is staying just west of us, I mean less than 10 miles away. we will probably get rain over night. I hear occasional thunder,

My new neighbors are cooking out. I see Isabella, her dad and grandad out watching the grill. Isabella is 2 and a cutie.

I'm back! The girls were driven to school so they could sleep for an extra 30 minutes - they are sooo tired! I've done a little shopping, and now I'm resting my foot. Wish I knew what I'd done to it!!!

Heidi, what a bummer about the office flooding again. What kind of flooring do you have?

MizT, your new neighbours sound lovely. Thank goodness! I'm going to search the US news - the floods sound dreadful!

I laughed at your comments about the girls' costumes. The theme to the party was based on the birthday girl's favourite movie genre - horror. At both of the 18th birthday parties we've been to there have been at least twice as many adults as younguns!

Small vent: When Jessica Watson first started her journey and had the false start the media was full of negative garbage making her out to be an incompetent sailor. Now that she is nearly home they're cheering her like a hero. Why did they need to do the negative reporting in the first place?????

Good afternoon all.
Suzy - re Jessica Watson - I think a lot of us were negative to begin with. I was shocked that hr parents would let her do something so dangerous - (like you can tell a 16yo!) - especially when she had the false start. Now I'm following her daily in the paper and cheering her on as she reaches the final and dangerous part of her adventure. It would be such a shame to have to pull out now! Go Jessica!!

Hi Cyn, she is obviously not an incompetent sailor as the media portrayed her to be, which is why people like us were shocked at her parents. The media manipulates us! Huge waves now if I can believe what I'm reading... which is often doubtful.

Suzy, here is a link to the video of the flooded interstate highway and the building floating past. I have read that the building was a portable classroom at a private church school.

http://www.wsmv.com/video/23380386/index.html

We had movie night tonight, I think we took turns dazing through different parts of it, but it was good to have hubby inside with me tonight to keep me safe from the storms. Yep, the rain got to us tonight, but no severe storms here thankfully.

Bedtime here, think I will read a bit to get sleepy. Catch you all tomorrow.

Thank you for the link MizT, I found some information, which was all bad and getting worse, but I didn't see that one.

Sleep well!

Suzy... Think worse case scenario about the basement flooring. Wall-to-wall carpeting. If we can't dry it fast, it'll have to get ripped up and replaced. Again. I'm trying to convince IH to replace it with vinyl next time. Then use throw rugs to absorb sound.

The flooding in this county has been horrific as well. Some friends of ours... cattlemen... have all their pastures flooded.... most of it over 4 foot deep. They have a few small high spots where the cattle are crowded. The county park has vanished underwater. Only the porta-potties are to be seen floating around. The ground water is a mess, too. The water coming out of our taps is the color of milk chocolate. NOT drinkable! I have a gallon of drinking water that I always keep handy for emergencies.

It's after 4 am, and I'm still up with a bad tooth ache. The tooth had stopped hurting for a few days, so I figured it had died and the pain was over. HAH! It was waiting for a weekend when it was impossible to get to a dentist.
Well, I'm gonna try to get SOME sleep, somehow.

Heidi, hope the tooth let you sleep some. Tomorrow is Monday and a dentist should be available. Hope the rain and storms are past you now, radar weather seems to think so. Most of the rain is passed us, just mist and drizzle now. We were very lucky here.

It is far to early to stay up, perhaps I should go read myself to sleep again.

Heidi, I see multiple fans blowing in the office area! I hope you are able to dry it quickly, but if you're not maybe your suggestion will happen. I hope you can see a dentist tomorrow.

MizT, I'm glad most of the rain missed you. The damage has been incredible. I am thinking about all of the people affected...

June, sleep well! Hope you had a great time!

IH is down in his office working on it now. Fans going, and shop-vac working, sucking up water. He's annoyed with me because I won't help with the shop-vac, but my back can't handle it.
My Dentist's office is closed on Mondays, so I'll have to wait until tomorrow to get in. If this wasn't the anchor tooth for a bridge, I'd pull it out with a set of pliers myself.

Tomorrow morning is Doc's surgery. I'm hoping Gil can handle the preoccupation because instead of being there, he has a meeting with the Governor of Kentucky. He's a member of one of the Governor's Agriculture Councils.

Best wishes for Doc's surgery tomorrow, Heidi. I'll have him in my thoughts.

I feel the same way about our old house sometimes. My husband asked me one time what it would take to fix the entire place up and I said a stick of dynamite.

Heidi, let Gil be upset with you, you know what your back can handle. Good for you thinking of your back for once. I do hope he can get the water up and the carpets dry. Sometimes fire departments have huge fans to loan, I know my sis borrowed some when they had a water line break while they were away, and flooded their entire lower level.

Suzanne, your stick of dynamite, Heidie's bulldozer just tickle me as a solution to home remodeling. I think this is a situation where my dad would have said, what you need is to jack up the house and drive a new one in under it hehehe, My dad was full of sayings like that.

Heidie, glad your rain has stopped, hope your friends pastures drain quickly, and they can get feed to the animals. did your pastures flood?

Suzy, in that video, I cannot imagine how quickly water must have risen on that freeway to trap and submerge all those cars and transport trucks. But then, on a freeway, it is not easy to turn around if you come upon rising water.

June, that was a quick trip, glad you make it home safely. Have a good sleep.

Rolanda, let us hear from you, was good to see you pop in, but a report on how you doing would be appreciated, I have been thinking of you.

Feel a bit better after a good sleep. I drove the last 2 hours home yesterday. It was a good few days and caught up with a few friends that we have had for a lot of years. It was lovely meeting 'Vivacious' Viv. A very appropriate name as she has a wonderful bubbly personality. And yes, I also met John.

Sorry about all the flooding Heidi. Also good wishes for Doc's surgery today.
Mil is back home from hospital. Ken spoke to her last night and said she sounded very tired.
I have to play in the singles championship at bowls today (first round) so I might see if I can get another hours sleep!

Morning all!
Heidi, what MizT said, look after your back. Now I'm all confused! I thought Gil's meeting was on Monday and Doc's surgery on Tuesday. Sigh, I don't think I'll ever sort out this time difference thing. Good luck at the dentist.

MizT, I read some incredible rainfall numbers yesterday. 20" comes to mind! With that kind of rain it would be hard to get out of the way quickly enough! I feel very sad about the young ones who thought it would be fun to ride down the flood waters in rubber tubes. I think we all thought we were immortal at that age.

Ebob is studying The Color Purple in English. As well as reading the book, which she has done twice, they watched the movie. She said both made her cry.

Ally was feeling too tired to go to Tae Kwon Do last night so didn't get her results. We will have to wait until Thursday to see how she did.

Don't worry Suzy. Gil confused me, too. He does have a meeting today at his plant, but the big one is tomorrow, at the same time as Doc's surgery. That's not what he initially told me. He doesn't know how to keep his stories straight. He rarely ever tells me the same story twice. It makes it very easy to tell when he's lying, too.

Well, I'm going to try to get a nap. I'm not sleeping well with this toothache. I'm actually amazed at how swollen my face has gotten. If I try to smile, only one side can move. And it HURTS.

BTW... IH hasn't noticed the Budgies yet, tho' he has walked past them dozens of times already. It may take a few weeks before he notices them.

Yikes Heidi! You've done a good job on your tooth!

I think I might know what is going on with my foot. It is really weird, the top of my foot is quite painful. Resting it relieves the pain for a while. I haven't twisted it, strained it, or done anything that I can remember that would make it hurt. At first I thought it was a cramp that wouldn't go away, now I think it might be arthritis! I broke the bones in my feet in a motorcycle accident many years ago - it makes sense! That's a relief because I now think walking on it is the best thing I could do whereas yesterday I wasn't sure what was going on.

Hi everyone.
Hope you get that tooth fixed very shortly Heidi.
Best wishes to Doc for his surgery.
Also to Ken's Mum June & good luck with your bowls.
Thought FIL time had come on Sunday night but was not to be.
I spent most of the day sitting with him yesterday and will do the same today.
Hope you find out what is wrong with your foot Suzy.

Heidi, mum said the same thing. My toes are fine, there is no redness or swelling, just pain in the top of my foot when I walk or drive.

Viv, what is wrong with my foot is mostly a curiousity, your FIL on the other hand is something that needs major SA vibes and thoughts and wishes - for BOTH of you! Hugs!

Suzy... with Gout, the toes feel like they're cramping. I've never seen redness or swelling. That's not to say that those aren't problems in more severe cases. It sounds more like a mild case to me.

Suzy, the top of my foot is high and that is where I always have a problem! The shoes 'rub' the veins on the top and then they get very sore and ache when I move them. Lace up shoes are never laced up properly and I am very careful of the shoes I buy but it is very hard, especially as I get older and my shoe size has increased. I also have orthotics that I wear in some of my shoes. I did get some more sleep. I am not feeling very enthusiastic about bowls today!
