More GOOD news on Doc: He's surprising the hospital staff and doctors with his strong recovery. They've taken him off support 15 hours early, his EKG shows his heart muscle is already much stronger and there's no leakage around the new cow valve. Gil is almost floating on air.
He had a bad time trying to get to and from his meeting with the Governor. Most of the roads that he needed to use to get to the capitol were closed due to flooding. The National Guard was out in force, blocking roads. One town was completely underwater. He says that he has no idea how he actually did get there.

at the Doc's tomorrow, MizT. This is when you get the pins out, the splint off, and the cast on, isn't it? I hope everything is healing better than the Doctor expected.

In case anybody has been wondering about the canaries... They are definitely a male and female, but they don't want to be a pair. The female is on her 6th nest of eggs and all have been infertile.

Good morning. Sudoku friends. Yes Heidi, you got it all just right re: doc visit. we launch in 2 hours, have had my one armed shower, so only to eat and dress and I am good to go. How is your tooth today?

"DO NOT READ IF YOU PLAN ON EATING SOON" ALLERT
The swelling has gone down some from yesterday. I think it is from drainage, not from the antibiotics so far. I'm not crazy about the steady flow of puss into my mouth, but it beats the alternative. The painkillers work great, but from experience with these, I HAVE to take these on a full stomach, or I lose what is in there. I first took these when I had my hysterectomy, IH didn't feed me (He had people from his church deliver food, and he ate it all himself) and I spent the first 2 days out of the hospital retching over the porcelain god... with an 8 inch abdominal incision. Not even vaguely pleasant.

I sent the money to renew my supporting membership as soon as I could, but now I have lost my few smilies and avatars that took me ages to get son to do. I had a nice one for Mothers Day too.
I think I am entering 3 years of visiting here.
Greg is in Taree visiting family,so I am enjoying my own company.I find it nice for about 2 weeks, then begin to miss him.
On a deadline to finish another assignment by the 20th.I thought I was ahead being due in June. No, its due May.

I just found ANOTHER dead cow! This was one of my best registered girls, too. It looks like lightning strike... she's been dead around 3 days, and that's when we had such bad, close thunderstorms.

I think I can, I think I can!
Yeah, it is awkward an not something I could do long at a time, but . .. . .
I AM TYPING WITH BOTH HANDS!!
Yes, I am shouting, squealing with delight, most happy. I feel like I have all my friends back. OK, so for a bit, cannot do this long, a bit awkward, more typos, but I will get accustomed by doing a little at a time, will get better if I do not over do at one time!
Doc said all was healing nicely, They took out sutures, but not the pins, someone told me wrong somewhere. I have a bright pink cast, they did not have white or beige and the blue was yucky hehehe. I go back in 4 weeks. Cast comes much lower on my hand, but thumb sticks like like, well, a sore thumb.
OK, I will have to work on this, only a bit at a time, it is making hand hurt, but at lest I am not another 6 weeks of hunt and peck! I am so easy, just getting back my typing makes my day hehehe.
I will be back to read later. it is nap time now. Hugs to all.

Nola, good luck meeting your deadline. Your papers are so long! I remember spending hours cutting bits out of mine so I could go under the word count - over was a major penalty! Your word count requirements must be horrendous!!!! Thinking of you...

It's almost impossible Nola! I remember cutting reams out of a paper and sent it in still over the maximum word count (I think that was 10% over the required count) and got comments telling me I needed more information!

I haven't changed a tyre in about 20 yrs. The last flat I had, a woman on a motorbike did it for me,as I couldn't even get the tyre out of the boot.I was so grateful to her.
As I get older, I attempt fewer new tasks in case I end up with it as MY job.

I have never changed a flat tyre. I've always called AAA or NRMA to do it for me.
Nola, your story reminds me of one of mum's adventures when she was driving around Australia. In the middle of nowhere, with no phone reception, she found a couple stranded on the side of the road with a flat tyre. They didn't speak English but mum managed to communicate with them. She changed their tyre for them and took them to the next town to get it tightened with one of those pneumatic or hydraulic thingys. The garage didn't have one, but another 'traveller' did, he tightened it for them and everyone went on their merry way.

She knits all year round.
We are glad Patel is gone, and I don't think that the few mentioned during the court case are the only victims affected. We can only hope that in future, someone not allowed to perform certain procedures in other countries, can't do them here either.

Boy did I have a long long nap! Must have been more fatigued than I thought, almost 4 hours! The pain pill I took did not have anything to do with the length of the nap I am sure.
Al and I made burgers and ate when we came in, before I got on the puter. Also, we had stopped at the grocery for hamburger buns, and a few veggie item fell into my buggy. It was a long appointment, at the docs, but not that long, no 6 hours hehehe. Hour each way just in driving, hour and a half being removed from splint, arm cleaned up, X ray taken, Doc to see me then to cast room for sutures out and a cast. Did I say mine is bright pink? White or beige was not an option. Dern think is heavy, I will be using my sling much more, at least for a while.
Found some nice sliced mushrooms on sale, already sliced is a big bonus these days. I will make something tomorrow night with them, we have planned overs tonight. Pork roast and potato/onion hash, it was good last night, sure we will enjoy again tonight.

MizT, dinner sounds good, even as leftovers. Glad your hand is doing better and you can do a little more. It will be much better soon.
Heidi, I can picture you changing that tire. I had to take a driving class in high school and we did not pass until we could take a tire off the car, roll it completely around the car, and then put it back on. It has come in handy several times. I had a flat tire on the highway when Mitchell was about 2. He was sleeping in his car seat. Pulled over, pulled everything out of the trunk and started to get to work. A car pulled over in front of me, two young men jumped out, took over for me and finished it quickly. I was thankful but they would not let me pay them, even though I offered to.

Sounds a fun night Gail.
Nola, hard at the time but I am sure all this study and work will be worth it in the end. I am sure everything will be OK for Judy.
I have changed a few tires but now they put the nuts on with the pneumatic tightener I am not sure if I could even get the nuts undone.
