Just woke Mother up, I will go and check to see if she has gone to the shower yet.
Busy day today. ( no rest for the wicked ). Take mum home, grocery shop, get ready for the Girls, they arrive tomorrow sometime. Have to strip mum's bed and wash the sheets. The boy bed will be done tomorrow.
Thinking of making a Quiche this afternoon for tomorrow night's dinner. As tomorrow is another busy Mum Day, taking her to the clinic for her check up.
Who knows what we will be having for dinner tonight !!!!

The driving thing might be different in WA Rolanda. Do you have the transitional P plate system over there?

Someone said you should try guilt on your mother but I remember you saying in the past that she wouldn't fall for it as she is the expert. You could learn from the expert!

I still haven't taken any photos of Nom Nom. We will have to get onto that before she grows up too much more...

Morning all.
Yes, Suzy, I think all states have different driving rules. I just checked for Qld, I have a C licence (car) with a code A (for automatic only). A straight C licence enables a person to drive either. I have absolutely no intention of ever, ever learning to drive a manual car at my age.

My sister sent me the following:

HAVE YOU EVER BEEN GUILTY OF LOOKING AT OTHERS YOUR OWN AGE AND THINKING, SURELY I CAN'T LOOK THAT OLD.

WELL . . . YOU'LL LOVE THIS ONE.

MY NAME IS ALICE , AND I WAS SITTING IN THE WAITING ROOM FOR MY FIRST APPOINTMENT WITH A NEW DENTIST.

I NOTICED HIS DDS DIPLOMA ON THE WALL, WHICH BORE HIS FULL NAME. SUDDENLY, I REMEMBERED A TALL, HANDSOME, DARK-HAIRED BOY WITH THE SAME NAME HAD BEEN IN MY HIGH SCHOOL CLASS SOME 30-ODD YEARS AGO.

COULD HE BE THE SAME GUY THAT I HAD A SECRET CRUSH ON, WAY BACK THEN?

UPON SEEING HIM, HOWEVER, I QUICKLY DISCARDED ANY SUCH THOUGHT.

THIS BALDING, GRAY-HAIRED MAN WITH THE DEEPLY LINED FACE WAS WAY TOO OLD TO HAVE BEEN MY CLASSMATE.

AFTER HE EXAMINED MY TEETH, I ASKED HIM IF HE HAD ATTENDED MORGAN PARK HIGH SCHOOL .

'YES. YES, I DID. I'M A MUSTANG,' HE GLEAMED WITH PRIDE.

WHEN DID YOU GRADUATE?' I ASKED.

HE ANSWERED, 'IN 1975. WHY DO YOU ASK?'

YOU WERE IN MY CLASS!', I EXCLAIMED.

HE LOOKED AT ME CLOSELY.

THEN, THAT UGLY, OLD, BALDING, WRINKLED FACED, FAT-A**ED, GRAY-HAIRED, DECREPIT SON-OF-A-BIT*H

ASKED, "WHAT DID YOU TEACH?"

My lovely mother-in-law is back in hospital. She hasn't been able to breathe for days and wouldn't let Allan (her hubby) phone the ambulance. Col told him yesterday to just do it!
Waiting to hear more news. The woman always rallies to live another day. She will go when she's ready but I think she's close to that. Poor dear. We probably won't go to see her until tomorrow unless we are called to. Col is a lot better today but still a bit giddy. She's in a hospital about 40kms away through heavy Motorway traffic and I don't think he's up to that yet.
I have my fingers crossed that if she goes it is peacefully.

Rolanda thoughts go out to you and your mother.
Cyn, thoughts for you, hubby and MIL.
SA vibes really do help.
Suzy, I have three different ways to get around the firewall. I will (probably) not use it during the school year but I don't mind as it is summer and training.

Sloshy thing fixed. A knee length stocking was caught in the pump. $121 dollars later but I was given a $100 voucher if I buy any Fisher and paykel product in the next 12 months (or know anyone who can use it)
Also computer has been fixed, it was just the power board so no info lost. I think I started typing this about an hour ago. Laura wanted lunch and other interruptions.

Hi everyone! Hope you're all well today.

MizT - when I broke my arm and had it plastered up for weeks, I assumed that getting the plaster off would be the end of the story ... no-one told me that it was just the beginning! When they took the plaster off I expected to be able to use it straight away ... it was better, they said! The truth was that I couldn't use it at all for days, it REALLY hurt! then each little movement was a major achievement. When I went back to the gym everything hurt and I couldn't even straighten my arm - I was worried that it would stay like that forever. Well, it's still weaker than the other, but I've got most of the movement back, so I know that I've been very lucky! Reading the story of all your problems makes me realise just HOW lucky I've been - I'm sending you all my good thoughts and wishes that your hand is much better VERY soon! ♥♥♥

Update on my MIL - she has fluid on her lunds, the flu, shingles and hasn't slept since 9pm Monday. Col spoke to her for a few minutes but she was too tired and had to go. Time will tell.

She doesn't sound like she's in good shape, CynB. I'll send good vibes her way, as well as yours.

I'm about to feed the dogs and go to bed. I don't have to leave here until 9 am, so I should get a good nights sleep.

Theresa, I love that! I've seen it too and it's just as good the next time I read it!!!

Cyn, sorry to hear about your MIL. I hope Col and you get to see her first if this is her time.

Tami, so if someone is careless you can still get in - I like your style! The firewalls at school are ridiculous I found when I was in the schools. I couldn't even check my mail.

Just been searching thru the above site.. and found..
If you wish to upgrade your licence, for example C-A to C (so you can drive manual cars), you will need to pass a practical driving assessment before this restriction can be removed.
A = To drive motor vehicles fitted with automatic transmission only.
C (Car) A motor vehicle with a gross vehicle mass not greater than 4.5 tonnes and constructed or equipped to seat no more than 12 adults (including the driver).

Afternoon all!
I checked the NSW RTA site and there doesn't seem to be an A class license here. And they don't specifically talk about auto vs manual except in the restrictions for P1 drivers who can only drive an auto if that's what they were tested in. P2 drivers don't have that restriction. When I got my license X number of years ago there weren't any restrictions at all. People used to test in autos so they were more likely to pass and then drive manuals. Sounds like your states wised up sooner than mine!!

There's any lurk they nipped in the bud after I got my license. I got my motorbike license first, waited until I got my black/full license and then went for my car test. No provisional license at all on the car!! Total rort!

Hey Suzy - my hubby got his car licence, before provisionals came in. A few years later he was working out in western Qld, walked into a police station in one of those outback towns, took the cop to the pub for a drink or ten, and got all of his other licences without a test - motorcycle, bus, right up to a semi. That's the way it happened then. But having worked with so many of these men, who all got their licence the same way - 99.9% of them were responsible capable drivers. It's that .01% we all have to worry about!

My driving start would have confounded OZ, it seems. I learned to drive on an Excalibur that had a racing engine and both automatic and manual transmissions, and an Isetta that had the manual tranny on the opposite side, and gears reversed. (It also had only one door, in front, and the steering wheel attached to the door, but that's another matter.)

I leave for the epidural in 2 hours. Then this evening, IH takes off to the plant for 3 days. I will need to rely on Robert and George (my neighbor building the sunroom) to do any and all lifting for me. But at least it won't be stressful here.
Yesterday, we had a visit from the guy who sold us this farm. He was impressed with all the improvements and changes, and amused that I had put new pens and buildings where similar structures had been 75 years ago. The strangest part of the visit was his admiration of the sunroom. He had been seriously thinking of building a nearly identical sunroom in the exact spot where this is going up!!! The only thing that stopped him was that his wife wanted to live in town, not on a farm, and once she was diagnosed with breast cancer, he agreed to her wishes and sold the farm to us. (She loved it in town, but passed away a year later.)

Thoughts for those dealing with elderly parents and in laws. And get better those that are sick. Heidi, hope the epidural is a very successful one tomorrow. Look forward to enjoying that sunroom. Laura has gone back home but she will be back here on Friday night. Apparently she plays 'petville' on FB so she keeps asking her Mother if she is feeding and looking after Laura's animal when she is not home. Another computer addict in the making.

Laura cannot access Petville on my computer, thank goodness. She can type her name by herself but not able to type other words unless you spell them out for her.
