A good nights sleep. All ready for a busy day bowling. We are playing triples and two members of the team dropped out so I had to find two more and I have to be the skip. Not my position and I do not think we will be very successful. We will have fun though.

Morning all!
Theresa, what MizT said. I wish your daughter could vent in here too because from everything you have said she will blame herself. It's not her fault and it's not yours. We'll be your references if you need them!

Heidi, the pleasure that you get from your birds means that the contribution to the feed cost will be a bonus. They are not farm animals, they are peace creating-smile giving-music makers!

June, have fun today! That's one of the great things about not only being in it to win it, you have a good day regardless of the outcome. The ribs are still very sore, but she is not complaining and insists she can play baseball tomorrow. I haven't had a call from the doc so I assume all is good. I hate that 'only call if there is a problem' thing!

Heidi, I have never been a talented person so have no idea what music camp is! According to the forms: "participate in mysical experiences outside of the normal school setting.... We will provide both large ensemble and individual tuition and performance opportunities for students"

The kids have to be nominated to attend and so there is no guarantee that she will get in. I guess it will depend on how many apply and what their levels of skill are compared to hers. For example, she can't read music and one of the questions is 'sight reading ability - none, basic, good....'

Another anecdote:

Yesterday Ebob comes home from TAFE and says "Thanks a lot dad! Menopause! Ew! Why did you have to make me a girl?" So she knows about the XX and XY thing too and it's all his fault! hehe I'll have to use that one day.

Good morning all!
Theresa - so sorry about the job. But agree that family comes first - hope something good comes up for you. Good luck to you and your family, sounds like you need it.
June - I do hope you can get a good night's sleep.
Suzy - good for Ebob! Standing up for herself like that.

Hi all. Another crazy day at camp but at least no injuries or major problems.
Theresa, sorry to hear about the job. Come in here and vent any time you want. We will listen and even offer advice if we can. We all know this is the place to talk because there are a lot of strong shoulders here for you to lean on.
Heidi, at least you won't have to ship the birds and worry about them getting someplace safely. Like Suzy said, the birds supply a lot of value more than money.
Brenda, glad you got new glasses. I know it will make your activities more enjoyable.
Don't remember what else I have read. Apologies to anyone I forgot to say hello to.

Besides the music, the birds provide hours of entertainment just watching their personalities. The Gouldians are totally non-aggressive, but watching their interactions and their silly mating dances as they try to switch partners is fun. It's also great emotional therapy and far cheaper than going to a shrink.

I just woke up from a nice nap. It's impossible to get things done outside with all the heat and the sudden downpours, which don't cool anything off. Today was the last day of storms for a while, but the excessive heat is supposed to continue for the foreseeable future. If anything, it's supposed to get hotter.

You're not going to believe this. IH just walked in the door and got mad at me because supper wasn't ready for him 4 hours ago! He said that I ruined his chance to go to the plant this evening. Yet he told me mid afternoon that he wasn't going to the plant until Sunday.

I can only drink my coffee half strength. Any more than that and I feel queasy.

Hi everyone! I am here but I get so sick of having to log in all the time that I just don't comment.
I have read all though.
Theresa, I'm sorry about the job. I'm sure the perfect job is out there for you. I'll keep you and your daughter in my thoughts and prayers for a speedy resolution to your difficulties.
Heidi, I'm sorry you aren't feeling well. Great news about the birds though.

Hello my friends.
I am back! Another busy week but have achieved at lot and feel good about myself.
Theresa, I have a good feeling about you finding something suitable for your new job you are a caring person and we love to hear you vent here.
Heidi, hope the tummy settles, sure it is not IH who is causing your problems? Stress can do that as we all know but sometimes we don't see the obvious.
Oh Vicki, grrrrrr to the internet!
Tami, sure you said you at least have a couple of days off before heading back to school?
Zusy, you must be a proud (if not slightly broke) mum.
MizT, hope the hand is not hurting too bad, glad you wore your splint while working.
Rola, hope the headache has eased.
June hope you had a fun day today.

Broni! I missed you! Let me see, around the time you posted I was running late for coffee with friends. You said what I thought about the upset tummy. Ally seems to be suffering from a little of that at the moment too.

Vicki, I'm glad things are slowing down. Now to fix this log on thing so we get to hear more from you...

Imagine this: For those of you familiar with Jack Black and Tenacious D... imagine a cute little girl and a young boy with a lilac mohawk (I think it was supposed to turn out purple - fail!) singing Tribute! Be you angels - we are but MEN! If they do it right people will be laughing - hopefully with them and not at them.

My good deed for the day: I stopped at the shops on my way home from coffee. A woman was there with groceries waiting for a taxi that wouldn't come. Her sister had a suitcase. They asked if I lived in their suburb. Nope, but I knew where they lived as it is very close to where Ebob goes for her St John's Ambulance stuff. I said I would take them. They gushed and gushed and said I must be overflowing with karma. Na, I said, if I can drive a friend of my daughter's boyfriend twice this distance I can drive someone I pick this far... I had to drive past where the accident happened the other day. All signs of it were gone, and I couldn't help looking.

Good morning everyone ... I'm feeling much better today. The materials for my ex-job will be sent by courier today and they will be out of my life. Part of the problem with that job was they were still on WordPerfect, the old DOS system, and it wasn't working well with my Vista program. They had told me that by the end of last year they would be on Microsoft Word, but they still aren't. I just don't need the headache. Something will come along.

I was just sitting outside with my coffee watching a squirrel three feet from me burying a peanut. I realized I was wearing a leaf green T-shirt, khaki pants and brown shoes and he probably thought I was a tree. Ah, life's little blessings. Will be back later as I have to do some swearing before my sister pops in this afternoon. Take care all.

Tomorrow I will find out if I won anything at the County Fair. Probably not, the way things are going. When I was there, trying to help cook, I went to see if I won anything, but the people in charge of the exhibits building had forgotten to send anyone to open it. Again. This is a regular screw-up of theirs every year.

I'm gonna have a relatively quiet day today. IH is gone for the day, and Robert won't be here for too many hours. He fell and hurt himself while setting up the wrestling ring at the Fair. He cut up his nose pretty severely, but he also injured his neck in the fall. He can't turn his neck in any direction. We laughingly say that he did a "Heidi".

Sounds like a Heidi to me! Which shouldn't be funny, even at this time of night I know that!

Theresa, glad you can see the positive side! I am sure the future will be positive too...

Here's an interesting twist on my good deed story - not the first time, and on other times purse was stolen. This time there's a sister with a suitcase and I don't have my purse stolen - did they take pity on me or did karma really head in my direction this time?

Morning sudokuland. After a shakey start, I did get a good nights sleep, from 1:30 till 8:30. feels good!

Theresa, my in house computer geek hates Vista. He has friends/customers frequently bringing him computers with all kinds of conflict issues between software and Vista. He has removed it from a Lot of machines and put back , gee, forget the name of the precious Windows program now, so this entire paragrapy is pointless hehehe. Ahhh, windows XP, I remembered. Word Perfect is Ages old!!! a dinosaur! XP runs my Microsoft office nicely.

Heidi, I do hope you won a ribbon or two. At our county fair, winning often depends on how many entries in a category. I have seen some quilts, UGLY quilts, poor workmanship to boot, with ribbons cause they were only one in a category!!

OH DEAR, that did not come out right, your eggs are NOT ugly, they beautiful! I think I need more coffee. back later, hugs.

Heat index is below 90 at 9:30, but rising temps will take care of that quickly. Another hot one today and for following 3 days, forecast 97-99 (37C) with heat index even higher. After 2 relatively cooler days ( low 90's) this will seem oppressive.

Robert knows how clumsy I am. He's seen me trip over a blade of grass on perfectly flat ground, and have a bad fall. He always laughs himself sick when I do that. (I laugh, too.)

MizT... In this county, they frequently use judges who give ribbons (and money) to the most popular people. I was dumped once in the sculpture class. I'd entered a beautiful prancing pony I'd carved, painstakingly, out of a block of soapstone. It had taken MANY hours of work, and I was proud of it. It was beaten by a "modern" "sculpture?" consisting of 3 pieces of wood nailed together and painted black. But it was made by one of the more popular ladies in the community.
I no longer have that pony. I gave it to someone as a present and regret it. I wish I had kept it. But I usually give away the artwork I like the most.

Heidi, same with my quilts, I have given away a few I do wish I had back again! One baby quilt in particular. It was a study in using printed boarders around a pieced center. A totally new pattern, from a block that was easy peasy, but looked very complicated. Gave it to a then neighbor's infant grandchild. Did not get even a thank you, NO appreciation for handcrafted items. It is probably a dog bed by now!

First attempt to make something today. I had fabric to make a new pillow ticking for a down and feather pillow. Old cover just wore out, s0lit, and I have feathers in my bed often. I did manage to cut out the 2 rectangular pieces needed, with difficulty. Took about 3 times as long as it should and left my left hand sore. Such tiny baby steps! I hope to be able to sew it together later today, machine sewing is not so hard. AL will have to stuff in the feathers, though.

You decide this one.

I have not finished putting away canned goods from the Aldi's shopping. Al could do this, but he will not do it way I want it done. I have a system, he just stuffs things in first spot he sees. In my pantry, there is room for canned goods 3 deep, 2 high, on each shelf. I want 6 cans of diced tomatoes, 6 cans of pork and beans, all stacked neatly in rows. He thinks I am obsessive compulsive. "This takes way too much time." I think being a bit more organized when putting them away saves me a LOY of time over the next 2 or 3 months till we stock up again! I can see how much of any item I have on hand, I can find what I want to cook for dinner without having to ramble around in the back of rows to see what is hiding. he just does not understand this. therefore, I put them away. even if it takes me 2 days after shopping.

Does Al have everything organised in his workshop so things are easy to find?
It was a good day at bowls but I was feeling a bit 'yuck', and I was still coughing a bit. Lost both games but we were playing against much stronger players. It was a fun day though.I just got up to feed the cat.(I have had about 7 hours sleep without waking) but Laura has heard me and now in my bed so I had better go so that she gets back to sleep.
