Ciao Cyn, sleep well
I see it is Cyndi's birthday. It has been a good couple of years since we last heard from her. Does anyone know how she is?

Oh, that's right, forgot to mention...waiting to go pick up Hannah. She is at the school catering for the EDEC dinner (Eastern Districts Education Conference, or something like that!). Each year the school host it, and the students who do Food Tech in Year 11 do it. They all play a part, each doing a bit of everything. It is a 3 course meal with nibblies at the start, all of which they prepare, cook, serve and clean up afterwards. Hopefully we will get the call soon, but if the numbers were larger than expected, it could run on till 11pm.
Isn't it amazing how every other night I stay up till this time or later, no dramas, but tonight I just want to go to bed!

Goodnight to my friends from the other side of the world. Goodmorning topsiders. Another hot day with a heat and humidex alert in effect until further notice. It will be either the George Foreman grill or the BBQ for the next few days.
Suzy, thank you for getting that checked out. We do worry you know.
Got to get outside with my coffee before it gets too hot, and then off to my D's. Catch you all later.

I slept late. Robert will be here in an hour, and I was planning on having a trailer-load of cattle panels here so we could start replacing a fence in the woods and over the creek that the cattle tore down. Today and Friday are the only days he can work this week. A good friend of his passed away yesterday.... a 27 year old pro wrestler. They don't know what happened yet, he was found dead in bed and hadn't had any problems beforehand. Robert is in shock.

The Grass-hoppers ended up not going to GmaJackie's last night. They decided to stop and tour the caves at Mammoth Cave, and spend the night there. They'll continue on to Jackie's place and Graceland (Elvis Presley's home and now-shrine) today.

Heidi, I can imagine all the friends and family of the young wrestler are in shock. Perhaps they will find the cause soon. Please tell Robert we send our sympathy to him in the loss of a friend.
Theresa, I love my foreman grill for hot weather cooking. Wish I could share the meat loaf I have in oven with you. Yes, a cool start to the day today. the temp has been 72 for over 12 hours past!! heavy overcast and misty still, but might clear up by afternoon.
I had a long " intermission" last night, just could not get back to sleep. while wrestling with the bed, I remembered, no more planned overs in fridge and we will be away all afternoon. I did remember seeing a package of ground venison in the freezer compartment of fridge (most meat is in the freezer out in Al's office) so I got it out to thaw. I mixed up a Mexican Meat Loaf while waiting on my coffee. We will come home to an easy dinner, just steam veg, heat and eat. One good thing came of being awake in middle of the night at least.
Now to think about breakfast. Hugs to all

AAAAAGGHHHHHH, I did it again, lost a post, and a good post it was too.
heidi, you posted while I was typing my earlier post.
did you know, mamoth cave is one of the oldest tourist attractions in the USA? tours began in 1816.
http://www.google.com/images?q=Mammoth+cave&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official& client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=univ&ei=ax99TKmJBsaqlAew0cjtCw&sa=X&oi =image_result_group&ct=title&resnum=5&ved=0CEkQsAQwBA&biw=744&bih=524
here is a link to images from the cave. Gee did not know it was so long, you will have to copy and paste that to get there, or just google Mamoth Cave Images and you should find some interesting photos.
It is good to have a holiday with some wiggle room, when you find something you want to see " while we are so close" I hope the grass-hoppers enjoyed their day.
Meat loaf is beginning to smell good, I should check my timer, back later.

We've made great progress on removing the old fence that the cows tore down. Now Robert has to dig holes for the wooden posts for the new fence.
He's been in tears over losing his friend. He told me that his friend complained of a headache yesterday morning, and said that he was going to lay down for a while. When someone went to wake him up for lunch, they found him dead.

Sending thoughts to Robert and his friend's family.. The physical work probably helped him to cope.

Good morning. A bit cooler today but I will spend some time swearing at my daughter's house. First I need to pull her vacuum cleaner to bits to find out why it is not working properly (I think it has some rubbush jammed in it ) and I also want to stick some tiles back on the wall in her shower.

Cleaning, sewing, feeding animals and major repairs, June? Want to come to my house? I am too old to be your daughter, how about being your sister??
Your daughters are very lucky to have such a great mum.

Cyn, when my mom came to stay over with us, she was repaying her mother. When my older brother was born, mom and baby went to her mother's house for a week. When I was born, mom, baby and big brother went to grandma's house for a week. Since I don't have any daughters, I guess I will have to help my future daughter-in-laws. Just to be fair, my mother-in-law also spent a night so that my mom could get a good night sleep. They both helped, a lot, with the new baby.

Suzy, again, I am glad to hear that it was nothing serious with your eye.
Heidi, please send my sympathies to Robert also. We hear so much about him it seems like he is part of our family also.
June, you can come here anytime you want. I might be too old to be your daughter, maybe a niece or younger sister.

On the way to the club, I shall pop into the Book Shop at the Big Shopping Centre, and pick up my Complementary Book,
Last week at The Book Store, on sale they had buy 'this book' and get 'this one' for free..
The book store didn't not have the 'free one' on stock.
They had rung yesterday to say the book was waiting for me....

Needed to sit for awhile. I have put the tiles (4) back. put tape over the joins and will grout next time. Got all the muck out of the vacuum cleaner. The pup chews bits of wood that has been brought in for the fire and some had got stuck in the tube.
My daughter does like me to visit as she can find her house when she comes home.
Tami you are young enough to be my daughter but I am not a very enthousistic house cleaner. Sorry. Yes you would have to be my younger sister Tricia.

Heidi, please tell Robert we are thinking of him. I have a friend whose husband used to box and he is now suffering the knocking about that his brain received all those years ago.
Cannot find a spell checker on this machine and I miss it.
Guess I should do some more jobs so that I can feed the horses in a couple of hours and then go home.

Afternoon all!
Wow, only about a dozen posts since I was here this morning. I must have scared everyone away.
Rolanda, I hope you had a great day with your Mum and enjoy your new book. I get really annoyed that even second hand book shops here sell books for more than I paid for new books in the US.
Night night Heidi! I haven't seen fluffy today, though I have been looking.
June, hope you are on your way home now.

I am back home. Deciding if I soak in the bath or have a hot shower. I am feeling a bit achey. I do know my daughter will appreciate what I have done for her. I must get her to invest in some new gates. Some are too old and heavy to lift up and open.

June, I want to be your sister too!!! Hope your aches are feeling better.
Heat and humidex advisory still in effect. These temps are not normal for the beginning of September. September is actually my favourite month because normally there are beautiful sunny days and cooler evenings. Well, outside I go with my coffee.
Hope everything is well with Julie. I know she mentioned she might not have access to a computer for a week or so, but still thinking about her. We miss you, Julie!
