I AM BACK!!!! IH didn't pay the phone/internet bill, so everything was turned off. I just got back from having to pay it all in person.

Theresa.... I hope you are keeping Splotch separated from the other cats. Feline Leukemia is very contagious, especially through saliva. Younger cats tend to be at much higher risk. I have probably said this before, but you are a good person with a great heart.

The feet are feeling better. That big bruise is no longer screamingly painful, and all the skin around the blisters has dried up and been trimmed off.

Might as well CP, then go do some puzzles.

IH may suspect that he's in serious trouble. He's in Minnesota visiting his brother and family. They tried to Skype me last night, but the internet service had been cut off because he didn't pay the bill. Again. I wonder how he explained it to them?

Good luck on your exams, Nola!

Heidi, Splotch has AIDS, not feline leukemia. AIDS is also transferable to the other cats, but not as easily as feline leukemia. Since I am at home all the time now pretty well, I can keep an eye on him and the other cats. The AIDS is mostly spread through bites or grooming. He doesn't like our other cats, so he isn't grooming them. I just have to watch out for the biting. He growls at other cats when they come near him. He is so timid and sweet tempered towards humans though, I just couldn't put him down. The vet said he could quite easily live 10 years with this before symptoms start to show. Once he starts to go downhill we'll revisit the "putting to sleep" thingie. It might be a stupid decision on my part, I don't know, but I'm just way too soft when it comes to furry creatures.

I was wondering about you being MIA yesterday. I'm glad it was because of IH's lack of payment and not that you were ill. Not that IH's inconsiderate behaviour is a good thing, mind you. I can only begin to imagine how angry you must have been.

Heidi, sorry, I forgot to mention we are not keeping Splotch separated. We just don't have the room for that. When my daughter and family moved in next door, we gave up part of our side when the kids started coming along, so we are down to one bedroom. Hubby collects antiques and military memorabilia, so we don't allow cats in the bedroom where they are displayed/stored. The rest of the house downstairs is all open concept (except for the bathroom of course). I guess it will have to be a case of que sera sera.

Morning all
Nola, good luck in the exams! I will be thinking of you. I'm not going to wish you luck because you don't need it - you've worked so hard! I hope the health stuff is better...

Theresa, I'm glad the drive was nice even if the leaves hadn't changed yet. Crazy that your life is so busy you can't just hop in the car and go for another drive! Sigh. It's life Jim...

My thoughts on Splotch now you've made your decision - we don't put people to sleep when they get AIDS, we manage it the best we can. With the other cats around it must have been hard for you to make this decision and I respect where you are coming from. If you had decided to put him to sleep to protect the other cats I would have understood that too. Very tough and I'm sure you needed some hugs along the way. How about some now? {{{{HUGS}}}}

Rolanda, I'm glad you didn't do the dishes - especially since they were clean and weren't smelling up the house. Which 'he' did them when they were running late for work?

Heidi, I have never understood how families who have his and her money manage things. I can see from you that they probably don't! Some of my non-cyber friends do it, though they would have automatic payments set up on everything.

I'm sorry, Theresa. I meant Feline Aids, not Leukemia. I had a rescue cat arrive here a bunch of years ago with Feline Aids... didn't know it until after he arrived... and it decimated my cat population. I went from 8 cats down to 2. The 2 survivors were the oldest ones.

Suzy.... I had no intention of having his and hers money. It wasn't until IH opened up a separate account for himself and put everything he had into it, then used the "joint" account for paying all the bills without putting money in the account to cover anything. Things like mortgages have automatic payments from the "joint" account. Things get ugly when I catch him paying bills for his business or processing plant from the "joint" account, instead of from his "business" account.

Sorry about the rant. IH just got back from his trip unexpectedly, and I just lit into him about not paying the phone bill. What happens is that when the bill arrives, he grabs it and hides it from me so that I can't see the charges for business calls and p0rn lines. Eventually, he intends on paying them from the "joint" account, but since his filing system is one of the piles on his office floor, he forgets about them. Every month there are late charges, which add up. I'm seriously considering having them mail the statements to me, only.

That's exactly what I mean! A recipe for disaster! I can undertand him wanting a separate account for the business for tax reasons, but the rest of it is exactly why I don't know how couple's cope.

Hubby and I have only joint accounts (except for retirement plans). Neither one of us makes any type of large purchase though without discussing it first.

Heidi, that's why we are so concerned about Splotch. Our other reason for keeping him is all our cats are rescues and they no longer go outside. They were all tested for feline leukemia when they came to our place, but they weren't tested for AIDS. For all we know one of the other cats could have it already. It's hard to know what to do.

Time to fling food ... TTFN.

Hi to everyone. I read the posts but don't remember much. Hubby wants me to come outside and grill chicken with him. We actually have the windows open for the first time. It is not that cool but there is a breeze, making it bearable.

Cute story.
Dylan was outside playing with one of his friends. Friend's almost 5 year old sister walks into garage and straight into my house saying "hi Tami" She tells me all about her day, opens my pantry and asks for candy. I give her 2 small boxes and she wants to eat one. I tell her to ask mom. She goes home and comes right back. "mom says i can have one" She is so cute. She has no problem walking in my house anytime and she knows I, and hubby, will always give her candy.

Good morning all - didn't get back yesterday so you all reverted to talking non-stop and I had to read more than 2 pages.
Going out again today, my sister and I are going to see Eat Pray Love - if we can get in - first day today.

Yep, big heart. The great thing about big hearts is that they let a lot of happiness in. The hard thing is that when they are so big and open some hard stuff sneaks by too - that's where hugs come in!!

Cyn, the shorts for the movie look good. I hope you enjoy it - especially sharing it with your sister.

Tami, that is really cute! I'd kill you if you gave my almost 5 year old candy every time she came over though...

Theresa, we are the same with large purchases - which is why we can never stick to our budget! Niether of us can say no to the other. We've had to make it a general rule that we avoid shopping together except when absolutely necessary...

Tami, the previous place we lived was a garden home development with mostly young families (which we were at the time). One day a little girl came to our door with a bunch of dandelions in a pop can and she was selling them for 10 cents each. I told her I would like 10 of them ... she was so happy. She was too young to realize that our yard had plenty of dandelions already, but she sure melted my heart.

A friend just posted something about some fish concert thing on fb and, combined with our discussion of finances, it reminded me of somehting that happened this week. Hubby was scanning through a statement and asked me if I knew what a $315 charge was. Neither of us recognised the name of the place that the payment had gone to. We were both scratching our heads until hubby went online and googled the name of the company "T/Master". Duh! It was our tickets to Robin Williams!

I just sent all the women in my email list an email about breast cancer. When you get it there is a link/download to a photo - don't worry about opening it, it's just a photo of one of the previous forwarders. I thought I'd deleted it. Weird - but nothing sinister - that's why I'm telling you all here.

Hi everyone!

Suzanne

Rolanda's baby brother

Funny about those credit card charges - the boss and I were just discussing a charge and did I know who/what it was. It turns out that it was for a computer programme he downloaded. The names rarely match who you dealt with or what the item was.
