My neighbor George, and I are starting planning a new patio and sidewalk. I turned the old patio into a sunroom, but no longer have a place for my picnic table and grill. I know where I want it, and what shape, but we'll have to do measurements to figure out how much concrete to order. We'll have to do this before it gets too cold.

THE SENSITIVITY OF SENIORS
This letter was sent to the Lions Bay School Principal's office
in West Barnsley after the school had sponsored a luncheon for seniors.
An elderly lady received a new radio at the lunch as a
door raffle prize and was writing to say thank you.
This story is a credit to all humankind. Forward this to anyone
you know who might need a lift today.
Dear Lions Bay School ,
God bless you for the beautiful radio I won at your recent Senior Citizens luncheon. I am 87 years old and live at the West Vancouver Home for the Aged. All of my family have passed away so I am all alone. I want to thank
you for the kindness you have shown to a forgotten old lady.
My roommate is 95 and has always had her own radio; but, she would never
let me listen to it. She said it belonged to her long dead husband, and I should get my own radio.
The other day her radio fell off the nightstand and broke into a dozen pieces.
it was awful and she was in tears.
She asked if she could listen to mine, and I was overjoyed that I could finally tell her to f &*# off.
Thank you for that wonderful opportunity.
God bless you all.
Sincerely,
Edna

No real dramas, living where we do we expect this kind of thing. It wasn't storm related, but wind related, if you understand what I mean. With the very high trees we have, and their tendency to drop branches, random power-outs are fairly common, and we are very rehearsed in what to do in that instance.
Brenda, yes we have registered with all the relevant utility companies about our medical situation, and when we contacted them yesterday, they were as helpful as they could be, and we were the first to notify them of the current outage. They called back to check that he was ok a bit later, so we were both pleased at that.

I realise that some outages cannot be helped Gail. I'm pleased that they thought to contact you to make sure that hubby was ok. Hope you manage to get a generator for your own peace of mind,

My daughter's phone line came down one time and she phoned the telephone company - they said they could get to it in about 3 days or so. The police phoned the company and told them to get there sooner rather than later because of the grandie's epilepsy. The company was there within an hour!

Just waiting for hubby to get home for supper. About 15 minutes ago I started to feel really queasy for some reason, and headachey. When he gets home I think I will lie down for a while - I certainly don't feel like eating right now! Hope to catch you all later.

Theresa, I love that one! I would love some revenge right now... That was amazing what a difference a call from the police made. How did your D manage that one?
Brenda, I could be.
Gail, it is what it is, huh? I bet it didn't feel like that when the power came back on just as he was unhooking! It is great that they called back to check.

Hi all. Just stopping in for a minute.
Gail, glad that hubby is getting a generator. It is scary not to have one with his medical need.
Theresa, glad that your daughter was able to get the power back that quickly. It is a shame that the police had to call.
don't remember what else I have read. Have a few things to take care of and then want to go to sleep. Talk to you in the morning.

Thanks Rolanda, of course you all realise that it is itchy all the time.
Naughty Vicki dropping her aitches.
You can tell I'm bored can't you. I really don't want to be at work today. I didn't sleep well last night and, with this wet miserable weather, all I want to do is go home to bed.
There are some nights when I wonder what on earth Hubby is thinking of. I went to sleep around 10 last night and at 10:30 Hubby woke me to come and check out the dogs ear. Hubby had cleaned the dogs ear, discovered a bit of blood and then proceeded to put ear drops in the dogs ears. Poor dog is demented, holding his head on the side, rubbing his ears on the rug and just generally looking out of it.
I left them to it and woke at 3am. Hubby is still down with the dog, still putting eardrops in it's ears and telling me that he won't settle down and go to sleep. No wonder.
Funny that when Hubby came to bed the dog went to sleep. He's still holding his head sideways today so he'll have a trip to the vet.
Of course after the 3am conversation I didn't sleep well for the rest of the night. I need more than 4 & half hours sleep.

Oh Broni - I hope he gets away from Nerang soon. Col was home at lunchtime. His next load was to be somewhere in the northern suburbs but the rain and flooding meant that trucks couldn't get in, or out, of the site. Put off until Monday, but I'm hearing that this rain is here to stay for about a week!

Written by a 90 year old
This is something we should all read at least once a week!!!!! Make sure you read to the end!!!!!!
Written by Regina Brett, 90 years old, of the Plain Dealer, Cleveland , Ohio .
"To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me. It is the most requested column I've ever written. My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:
1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.
3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.
5. Pay off your credit cards every month.
6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree at disagree.
7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.
8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.
9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.
10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.
11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.
12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.
13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.
15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks.
16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.
17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.
19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.
20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.
21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.
22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.
23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.
24. The most important sex organ is the brain.
25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.
26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words 'In five years, will this matter?'
27. Always choose life.
28. Forgive everyone everything.
29. What other people think of you is none of your business.
30. Time heals almost everything. Give time time.
31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
32. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
33. Believe in miracles.
34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.
35. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.
36. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.
37. Your children get only one childhood.
38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.
40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.
41. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
42. The best is

Morning all.
Broni, I like that list!
Cyn, do tell.
Suzy, my daughter's telephone line was pulled down by a huge truck that should not have been on our little road. The police came to investigate and they parked right outside our house. My daughter told them she had no phone service and that the phone company wouldn't come for 3 days, and she told them she needed the phone because her daughter has epilepsy. Bingo, the police phoned for her.
Julie, I hope whatever is keeping you away from us is "good" stuff. Hugs.
Off to feed the kitties and have some coffee, or should I say have some coffee and feed the kitties.

Evening all
Theresa, now it all makes sense! I was wondering how the police got involved. I knew it wasn't anything sinister, just not what I expected and so I was curious.
Julie, do not let catching up with us cause you extra stress! As much as we miss you, we can wait. If you get to us tomorrow that would be great, if not, we will live.
Cyn, number 45??
Warning, sighing a vent... Although it probably doesn't look like it in here, and I know you will be shocked, I try not to gossip. So when people tell me things I don't repeat them, or I try not to. Sometimes scrambled eggs for brains gets in the way of good intentions, but I try my best. Well I have 2 friends who are going through stressing times for various reasons. One I drink coffee with, the other I make coffee with. They have both learned that I don't repeat stuff so they tell me everything!! One called me last night and talked non-stop at a 100 miles an hour for 30 minutes. I just had to uh huh, and really? every now and then. They have both been talking about the same thing, among other things, and being in the middle is so hard! I just keep uh huhing, and reallying and hope they work it out in the end. End of feeling sorry for myself...
