Good morning.
Suzy, how do you know so much about the local br0th el??? Inquiring minds want to know.
Broni, awesome post and I don't need to give you any numbers today. You have enough of your own.
Brain has not woken up yet. Think I will go make my morning pot of coffee.

Suzy, you snuck in on me and gave me the topp. Can you get the two of them together to work it out? It is hard when you are stuck between two people like that. My idiot uncle does that to my mom and brother. He uses them to negotiate taking my boys out. I told my mom and brother last time, if he wants to see the boys he can call my house and speak to them. I am tired of him putting mom and bro in middle. He has not called yet, he told mom if I answered he would hang up. He forgets I have caller id and have no intention of answering if he calls. My boys are old enough to answer a phone [bigggrin]

lol Tami, my brothers made sure it was the first thing hubby knew when he got here. Must be a man thing. Want to hear something creepy? I know who owns it (a friend owns a store 4 doors down) and I saw him walking around a market/swap meet with his two preteen daughers... ewewewewew

Not going to get in the middle of it Tami! It would only make things worse.

Your uncle sounds like a real piece of work. And immature.

Suzy, my uncle is very immature. I was always close to him until about 10 years ago. He is on medication and he is not the same uncle I grew up with. If I told you how he acted at Mitchell's Bar Mitzvah you would laugh. It is my mom's younger brother.

Suzy, Mitchell asked me if he could get playboy for his Bar Mitzvah as he was now a man. I told him absolutely not. Told my mom and we had a good laugh about it. I told her to NOT tell my brother as he would be crazy enough to buy it for him

Early onset senility?

http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2010/10/08/3032932.htm

Dino posted the link to that story on fb and I had to share it with you. The comments underneath are hilarious!! Especially if you are a fan of a well known trilogy of four books.

Funny story, Suzy. Thanks for sharing the link here. Not sure about the early onset senility. The family thinks that it has to do with the medications he is on. He has heart trouble and had a quadruple bypass about 20 years ago. The really sad part is he won't let my aunt contact us either. We are "his" family, not hers. I was 9 when they got married and she went from being my aunt, to being more of a big sister/friend. She is only 13 years older than me. At 9, it was a big difference, now it is not so much.

Tami, the saddest part of that story is that your aunt is letting your uncle dictate who she can and can't talk to. The imagination has to stretch to wondering if there are other people she isn't allowed to talk to...

lol Mitchell, he had to ask! What if the answer was yes?! Most boys would have just 'borrowed' a copy from a friend who found it somewhere without involving Mum though. At least that's what my brothers did.

We actually got some work done today!
Robert and I were finally both recovered enough to finish replacing that one section of fence through the woods. We can now keep the cows from roaming all over the property. There are 2 other fences to replace that the cows keep tearing down, but they're fenced away from that area now. The problem has been that the original fences are composed of electrified wires. If there's a short or power failure, the cows can go right between the wires, and being some of the least graceful animals on the planet, they keep wrecking the fences. When I get sick of fixing fences that they break, I replace them with welded wire or woven wire fencing which are physical barrier fences instead of psychological barrier fences like the hot fences.
I also got my truck insurance re-instated. I had accidentally let it lapse. Bad Heidi.

The youngest grandie had her appointment with the specialist for epilepsy today. There is some abnormal electrical activity on one side, but apparently they're not positive it is epilepsy so they are not going to do anything for now. Her parents are just to keep an eye on her and let the doctor know if there is anything remotely like a seizure. As far as I know she has only had one so far and it was so minor that my daughter wasn't sure it was a seizure.

I looked after the oldest grandie after school - we watched Ice Age 3. When you watch a movie with her, she gives you a blow by blow description of everything.

I'm still a bit queasy today, but better than yesterday. Still have a nagging headache that is only dulled a bit when I take Tylenol. I had a 5 hour nap this morning and I feel like I'm ready for bed again. Am I lazy or what?

A dedicated Teamsters union worker was attending a convention in Las Vegas and decided to check out the local brothels. When he got to the first one, he asked the Madam, "Is this a union house?"
"No," she replied, "I'm sorry it isn't."

"Well, if I pay you $100, what cut do the girls get?"

"The house gets $80 and the girls get $20," she answered.

Offended at such unfair dealings, the union man stomped off down the street in search of a more equitable, hopefully unionized shop. His search continued until finally he reached a brothel where the Madam responded, "Why yes sir, this is a union house. We observe all union rules."

The man asked, "And if I pay you $100, what cut do the girls get?" "The girls get $80 and the house gets $20."

"That's more like it!" the union man said.

He handed the Madam $100, looked around the room , and pointed to a stunningly attractive blonde.
"I'd like her," he said.

"I'm sure you would, sir," said the Madam. Then she gestured to a 92-year old woman in the corner,
"but Ethel here has 67 years seniority and according to union rules, she's next."

One evening a husband, thinking he was being funny, said to his wife, 'Perhaps we should start washing your clothes in 'Slim Fast'. Maybe it would take a few inches off of your butt!'

His wife was not amused, and decided that she simply couldn't let such a comment go unrewarded.
The next morning the husband took a pair of underwear out of his drawer. 'What the heck is this?' he said to himself as a little 'dust' cloud appeared when he shook them out.

'April', he hollered into the bathroom, 'Why did you put talcum powder in my underwear?'

She replied with a snicker. 'It's not talcum powder; it's 'Miracle Grow'!!!!! !

You guys just never learn, do not tick off the woman.

The History of APRONS
I don't think our kids know what an apron is.

The principal use of Grandma's apron was to protect the dress underneath, because she only had a few, it was easier to wash aprons than dresses and they used less material, but along with that, it served as a potholder for removing hot pans from the oven.

It was wonderful for drying children's tears, and on occasion was even used for cleaning out dirty ears.

From the chicken coop, the apron was used for carrying eggs, fussy chicks, and sometimes half-hatched eggs to be finished in the warming oven.

When company came, those aprons were ideal hiding places for shy kids.

And when the weather was cold, grandma wrapped it around her arms.

Those big old aprons wiped many a perspiring brow, bent over the hot wood stove.

Chips and kindling wood were brought into the kitchen in that apron.

From the garden, it carried all sorts of vegetables. After the peas had been shelled, it carried out the hulls.

In the fall, the apron was used to bring in apples that had fallen from the trees.

When unexpected company drove up the road, it was surprising how much furniture that old apron could dust in a matter of seconds.

When dinner was ready, Grandma walked out onto the porch, waved her apron, and the men knew it was time to come in from the fields to dinner.

It will be a long time before someone invents something that will replace that 'old-time apron' that served so many purposes.

REMEMBER:

Grandma used to set her hot baked apple pies on the window sill to cool. Her granddaughters set theirs on the window sill to thaw.

They would go crazy now trying to figure out how many germs were on that apron.
I don't think I ever caught anything from an apron ...... but Love !!

Theresa, love the story of an apron. I have vague memories of my dad's mom wearing an apron. I don't remember my mom's mom wearing one and I don't think my mom ever did. Dylan has an apron his aunt gave him and he loves to wear it when he helps me in the kitchen. It belonged to one of her sons and she passed it down.

Mom story, ending is first.
Mitchell is alright.
I get a call on my cell phone around 12:00. It is Mitchell's school. Of course I answer it. It is the school nurse. Mitchell was playing football during his spanish class and got knocked in the head. He had a big goose egg on his temple and she suggested I take him to the doctor. I left school and picked him up. Went to the local urgent care center, much cheaper and closer than hospital, and I didn't think it was that serious. After a thorough exam and x-rays doctor concluded no concussion or other damage. We agreed that the fact that Mitchell is hard-headed had to help.

Good early evening, Everyone! It's not yet 8:30 p.m., but I have at least 5 pages to read. I'm starting at page 380.

Hi, MizTricia, Suzy, Theresa, Rolanda, Victoria, Tami the T, Broni, Gail,

Theresa, I hope your back is feeling better and you are getting a good night's sleep each night! It's hard enough to keep up with the chores of one household, let alone two! Positive vibes and {{{{HUGS}}}} coming your way! I hope Splotch shows his appreciation by becoming a model cat - no shredding, no fighting, no messing, and lots of hugs and purring! Thank you for the continued jokes!

Victoria, it's too bad you won't be able to take some time off until near Christmas. The good news is that that's a very good time to have some time off! The other good news is that you have a job! In the meantime, we will miss you when you get too busy at work! I hope you were able to enjoy a walk without being rained upon!

Tami, you have such long days, I don't know how you keep up! It reminds me of D's senior year of high school. She got up at 4:30 to practice before leaving for school about 7:00. More practicing when she got home around 3 or 3:30, then homework, then more practicing if there was time. I felt the least I could do was get up when she did and do some quiet chores - or reading - before she left for school and I left for work. (This was before Sudokuland was invented.)

It was good to see MizT, Suzy, Broni, Gail and Rolanda also on page 380!

Now reading page 381 - hi, Heidi, Nola, Theresa, Suzy, Tami, CynB, Suzanne, Rolanda, Victoria!

Oh, Heidi, when will IH remember to pay the bills! What an inconvenience! I'm guessing his "explanation" to his family about internet and phone being cut off was that YOU didn't pay the bill on time! Would they know that he was fibbing? I hope your feet are continuing to heal and the bruise soon disappears from both sight and feel!

Nola, what a relief that all of the assignments are finished until after the exams! Here's hoping that all pertinent information remains firmly (and easily accessible) in your brain until the exams have been finished! Thank you for popping in with your update!

Theresa, you have your hands and heart and house full! You made a difficult decision in regards to Splotch. As you say, it may be years before he shows any symptoms. All the best to you and everyone in your household! {{{{HUGS}}}}

Tami, thank you for sharing the cute story about the nearly 5-year-old sister of Dylan's friend. (It made me think of our almost 5-year-old grandie.)

Enjoyed reading about how families deal with finances. We basically have 1 account - ours - and discuss purchases when needed. D and her hubby have yours, mine, and ours. It would drive me nuts.

What a wonderful surprise to see Suzanne posting again! We've missed you! Happy Birthday (now belated - sorry about that!)

Happy Belated Birthday wishes to Rolanda's baby brother! Rolanda, I hope your Mum is doing well - and hope she reported her fainting spell to her GP!

Heidi - I have a dog question for you! Long story - sorry!
Jewel got clipped last week, fairly short to get rid of her winter coat which had become unruly despite brushing. She was a happy puppy that first day, but the second day, which co-incided with the start of this rainy weather we're having, she seemed to be shivering/trembling a lot. We worried that she was cold but always felt warm to the touch (min o/night temps 19c, daytime 23-28c). I believe she is scared of the rain. We have had the odd few sunny days since and she goes back to normal. When it's raining she will chase a ball if thrown and is more animated if we play with her but mostly she finds the highest place (a cushioned chair, a low table) and lies on that. Last summer we had a tremendous downpour which inundated our under-cover area (highly unusual) for a few minutes until it drained away and I came outside to find her cowering and scared in about an inch of water. Do you think she remembers this and gets scared every time it rains? Or do you think it's something neurological and we should see a vet? She is no longer a house dog by her own choice. We have tried bringing her in but she can't settle inside and wants out.

On to page 382 - hi, Victoria, Rolanda, Suzanne, Gail, MizTricia, Rolanda, Heidi, Suzy, CynB, Brenda, Tami, Theresa, Suzanne, and Nola!

Victoria and Rolanda, I also pay all the bills. We're considering getting many of them on automatic payment from the bank. Has anyone ever had a problem with that kind of arrangement?

Rolanda, I hope your foot/leg is healing quickly! Glad to hear the pain has subsided!

Gail, being without power when you rely on it for your health can be quite scary! About the only good thing about my hubby going to a center when he used to be on dialysis was that they had a generator in case power went out. I'm glad your power was back on when you absolutely needed it! Terribly inconvenient, though, that it went out again!

Suzy, CynB, and Rolanda, I have also seen items in the stores for that C holiday - on the shelf above the Halloween candy. Yes, I know those items with a curve and stripe are also candy, but, come on, do we need to see it now?

Brenda, I hope your cough is nowhere in sight! Hope you enjoyed the knitting and stitching craft show and Dr. Who! We hope you didn't do too much swearing around the house and garden!

Nola, the extra week of study time should help! I hope your brain is absorbing everything like a sponge and sorting and filing it in ways that will make information easy to retrieve.

Heidi, I hope your hip is better!

MizT, that was quite a temperature swing!

Suzy, you're right: {{{{{HUGS}}}}} for everyone!

CynB... It sounds psychological. What confuses me is a dog that doesn't want to be a house dog/couch potato.
I think the shivering is due to the haircut. You removed her protection from the temps and elements. Even tho' the temperature isn't that cold at night, she still isn't used to it, and has less protection from drafts and rain. My dogs don't seem to mind the occasional haircut because it gives them the excuse to take over my bed and sleep under the sheets and blankets. Also, some dogs get embarrassed by the way they think they look and get unsure of themselves.

Hello, again! I'm back after watching a couple of previously recorded TV shows with hubby! On to page 383!

Hi, Heidi, Theresa, Brenda, Gail, Suzy, Tami, Rolanda, Victoria, Broni, and CynB!

Heidi, I hope you and George have decided on a good location, shape and size for your new patio!

Theresa, that was a very "sensitive" thank you letter from the elderly lady!

Gail, do random branches just fall from the trees - or are they shaken loose by wind? Is the wind storm-related or more like a breeze? (Inquiring minds, of course.) At any rate, it's good to know that the utility company checked back to be sure all was well!

Theresa, it is reassuring to know that the police acted responsibly in notifying the telephone company that your D needed her phone service restored! I hope you are feeling much better!

Heidi, will IH's visit to the plant last a few days? So glad he'll have his truck back!

Rolanda, please continue taking good care of your leg! I'm glad you were able to see your Mum, niece and grand niece. It was nice of your cherubs to visit your Mum for lunch! Don't over-do with too many errands!

Victoria, I hope your itchy spot is nothing serious! Hopefully you will get more sleep and have fewer interruptions! Is the dog's OK? Is your hubby in the dog house?

Suzy and Broni, have you found your missing posts? Don't you hate when they disappear?

Hoping the weather doesn't cause too many problems for those who must be on the road!

Broni, thank you so much for sharing the list! There were many good ones on it!

Suzy, you are obviously a good (and discreet) listener! Hopefully the two parties will get their differences worked out!
