Trying to sleep with a 5 year old and a dog do not make for a good night's sleep! The matress is not the greatest either. I do suppose I could have tried daughter's water bed!

Right now we're under a high winds advisory.... AND a TORNADO WATCH. It's blowing so hard that I wouldn't want to be out on the road. I've been praying for rain, but this might be overdoing it. "They" do say... Be careful what you wish for!

You're right, June. When I have a sleepover with the grandies it is never easy. Two little wiggly worms beside me in bed, and I tend to fall asleep before they do.
Good luck with the weather, Heidi! That's scary.

That was a short, but fierce, storm. High winds, pouring rain, thunder and lightning. The rain was almost horizontal. We were told to take cover in the basement, but since a lot of the dogs won't go down there, I stayed upstairs with them and watched a DVD instead.

Morning all
Heidi, I'm not sure your basement would be a great place to take cover anyway - doesn't it flood??
June, I'm imagining your daughter's waterbed with a dog on it - and it is a very wet picture
Morning Theresa!

Afternoon Suzy!
Heidi, glad the storm didn't cause any damage (at least to your knowledge).
Time to get supper ready and go do some chores for my daughter. TTFN.

Good mAen everyone. Heidi: Glad you got some rain (always good when needed).
Hello also to Theresa, Suzy, June & anyone else I missed.
TIGGER UPDATE: He's home, seems fine, and eating. The drain hole for the abcess is a little gross, but we have medicine for him. Have to change his diet due to tests the vet did on his kidneys. The rest of the litter he was from (he's the last survivor) all died from kidney failure. He is taking to the food ok. As soon as we got him home, he stretched out in Darrell's office (his usual spot).

maEn, friends, I think it is E when it is dark outside? We had some of Heidi's rain too, but I slept through it all. This is strange, hubby gets chemo and I am the one with nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fevor and belly pain. Started with bad tummy pains about 11 o'clock and progressed from there. I took one of his PRN (as needed) nausea pills, one I knew would make me sleep and I slept for hours! Just now up for something to drink. I hav not had a thing to eat and little to drink all day today.
Glad the cat his hope and taking to the new cat food. hope he has years of happiness eft to him.
Heidi, I just looked, we have tornado warmings north west from us at the moment, but that storm will not affect us. Like Heidi, we need the rain.
SUZY, with tornadoes, I would take a leaky basement over a dry exposed location. As long as it does not get over knee high that is. A little water gets you wet, a tornado can kill.
Think I ned to get back in bed, that little bit of cola is hurting tummy, if I lie really still perhaps it will stay down? Hugs to all.

Hello everyone!
MizT, I'm sorry you aren't feeling well. I hope it passes soon. Hugs to you and Al.
We had rain last night too. Everything is washed clean again but the humidity is kicking in.
I think I'm a techno-ludite-actually I'm certain I am. I've got a new mobile phone but there's something wrong with it. I charge it up and within 24 hours it is completely flat. It's going back to the store tomorrow.
I tried to load some new CDs onto my computer last night so I could sync them with my ipod. What a drama!
I think I shut the laptop down once, it locked up numerous times and I eventually removed the battery and restarted. Of course, when I was just about to throw the lot out the window, #1 comes along and it all works perfectly. All of this was happening as I was trying to cook fried rice for dinner.
Anyway, dinner turned out well (#1's Japanese girlfriend ate it so it must have been ok), my ipod is synced and I even managed to backup my important files to my portable hard drive. Whew.

STILL NO TIME FOR READING...
Cut and paste from my post on easy for the benefit of those that don't drop in there anymore..
"In my haste to post [you should hear the racket in my laundry] I didn't check my spelling so bear with me..
Started to spring clean a few weeks ago... have stuff all over the house.. it is worse than it normally is. I have had to do a massive re-arrangement of furniture to get the new More...
exercise bike in front of the tv.. figured that a new house rule is going to be enforced... multitasking when watching tv. If I am not sorting my boxes or involved in food preparation I had best be pedaling..
You see I have a plan... I want to be fit & mobile enough to cross the big puddle next year and get to meet as many as possible... woohoo...
Watch out topsiders... this Ozzie Bean is sick of being half baked or merely broad.. She is about to become a jumping, bouncing travelling bean again. You have been warned. I am going to plan my itinerary from Ouima's after we have talked ourselves stupid... hopefully I won't have to book a return ticket home, [the way my life goes anything is possible!! ] and can leave it open..
How would NO time constraints be? HEAVEN!
There has been so much hatching, matching and dispatching in my life over the last 3-5 years that the tempest is surely spent. Fingers crossed.. Surely there are no more surprises in store for me.
I hope that everybody that has offered me hospitality in the past was serious because I would love to take you all up on your offers and REALLY see where & how you all live.
There are so many family stories and anecdotes that you have all shared with all of us in our sudoku community that I would like to meet you all. Impossible I know but I can but try..
Rayray, Brenda and others I am hoping that I will also get to County Wicklow to discover my ancestors roots and spend time with relatives. the old family farm is still in the family and I long to see the farm that shared the same name as ours over here in Oz. By then I think I shall be exhausted and BROKE!! Nest egg totally spent.
Might have to start another travel blog so you can all send me suggestions...
Must fly..."
Cya love and hugs to everybody

BEAN!!!! Great to hear from you! Kentucky is centrally located, and a perfect place to stop. I'm less than 45 minutes from Mammoth Cave, the largest cave system in the world. I'd love to go on one of the tours with you. I have a guest room with a comfy bed, if you don't mind a bunch of lovable big dogs (most have manners). The invitation is wide open.

One of my nieces and her friends are carrying on about a Disney music video based on a song from Cinderella. The man says:
It's something of a juxtaposition of beautiful storytelling, lovely music, and feminine strength portrayed by the Cinderella Figure, versus the sl7tty-trashy-cr@ppy brand of snotty girl-ness sold to us TODAY by Disney and company...
just kind of a sick snapshot of what our kids are being poisoned with... :(
I can't believe how pompous they are being! Every girl in the video is completely covered. One has a scoop neck T-shirt type top but there is no cleavage showing at all. They don't shimmy or hip rock. The most outrageous thing they do is look at the camera at an angle rather than straight on which is one way to look a bit s3xy. And they're all probably 20 or older anyway!!!
Cinderella is no role model. I felt the need to point out to my girls the movie was set in a different time when girls didn't have as many choices as they do nowadays. I agree it's a lovely movie, but if they want that to represent reality.....

Woohoo....
Thank you friends..
I need to buy a BIG map and stick pins in it with your names on it...
I LOVE caves and Mammoth Cave is now on the list!
I love dogs [as you know] ... do you think any would like to sleep with me?
Brenda the only thing to stop me getting over your way will be the wheels coming off the cart back home requiring me to return. That and health issues but I plan on not letting that stop me! I REALLY want to get to Ireland but that part of my trip I will book after I have been away for a while. When are you thinking of heading this way?
Ouima has convinced me that I shouldn't waste too much time in getting over there... it will be a bit hard [but not impossible] for us to paint the town red if we are both in wheelchairs by the time I get there..
Watching my brothers deterioration over the last 12 months has really convinced me not to put anything of for another day. You will all be the first to know when I have boughtmy ticket..

Good Evening, Friends!
Hi, Tami, Heidi, Suzy, vdV, Suzanne, Rolanda, MizTricia, Vicki, June, Gail, Theresa, Bean and Brenda! I hope I didn't miss anyone!
Heidi, I hope the statewide soil survey people didn't arrive too early!
vdV, it's so good to see you here again! Thanks for telling us about Mikayla's accomplishment. Well done and good for her! (Does that mean she got published before you?)
MizT, Al's appetite after treatment seems like a good indication! I hope all treatments go as smoothly! I'm also glad things went so smoothly at the church for food assistance! Yes, it's reassuring to know there are good and caring people still left in the world. Of course, good people deserve to meet good people!
June, what fun to watch the kangaroo and the wombat!
Suzy, seems like your hubby (glass of vino in hand) is a keeper!
Heidi, I hope the rain wasn't accompanied by extremely windy conditions for very long! At least the rain seemed to last longer. Have you heard of a "thundershirt" for dogs? It looks like a coat, but applies pressure to the dog, which helps it deal with stressful situations. (It reminds me of a little girl I once worked with who was on the autism spectrum. When she became agitated, it helped to rub a stress ball up and down her arms or on her back.)
June, so sorry the 5-year-old and the dog in your bed (and a bad mattress) contributed to your difficulty in sleeping! I see Theresa knows about wiggle worms in bed!
Suzanne, thank you for sharing the good news about Tigger! I hope he has a speedy recovery!
MizT, I'm sorry you're not feeling well! Do you think the stress of the long day - and not having anything to eat - is the problem? I hope you are feeling much better after a long nap and a good night's sleep! Remember to take care of yourself! {{{{HUGS}}}}
Vicki, it seems like you got a lot accomplished, even if you were frustrated as you worked! You may have felt technologically challenged, but it seems like you reached your goal! Thumbs up that S#1's Japanese girlfriend liked the fried rice! Good for you!
Bean, it's great to see you here - and wonderful to hear of your plans for next year! I hope you can achieve all of your goals! Thank you for sharing them with us! We all have something to look forward to!

Heidi, a good, sharp, swift kick you-know-where might work wonders with Gil - especially if it is administered by one of those loose cows.

I'm going to pick hubby up from the railway station soon and then we are going to take my mother shopping. We have a fully booked weekend ahead so there is no time to fit in grocery shopping. We are going away the following weekend as the belated-turning-60 birthday celebrations. My brother won't take her shopping (I can't really blame him cause I hate it too) but he visits every second weekend and does work in the yard.
Goodnight all. I'll catch up tomorrow.
