cause she can!!! Sometimes the middle of the night is the best time to get stuff done. I know when I was working full-time, I would get up with hubby and son, have a first cuppa with them and see them off to work, then I had a couple of hours before I had to get the girls to school. I would work like a trojan, get all the machines whirring and head off to work. House was a lot tidier when I was working than it is now when I am home all the time!

Right Gail, plus our hydro bill is based on "time of use". If we run appliances after 9:00 PM and before 7:00 AM, it's almost half the price. Our hydro bills are going up by 46% over the next few years, so I have to do something to cut back. I figure if I'm up, I might as well do something like that.

I fixed the "thingie" all by myself. I deserve another coffee.

So true, Gail - when I worked full-time (for 20 years) - I was organised like that - I was a superwoman!! Now I can't get motivated some days. Maybe I need to work again? Yep, I do!
Suzy - I found the article, eventually!
Theresa - we have peak times when power is more expensive like 4pm-8pm - of course, just when you need to cook dinner. And our power (and water) bills are continually on the rise.

Suzy, found the picture of Ebob. It is hard to see her, especially with a hat on.
I am up early to do some Black Friday shopping. I am crazy, but not crazy enough to go to the stores. If I can't get it online, I don't need it. I did some shopping yesterday. J C Penney had their black friday specials on line yesterday, plus I found an online coupon.

Evening all,
It's very late for me. Pride rehearsals are very long at the moment, and yet not long enough. The Xmas gigs start next Friday. Wednesday is a reheasal in the Park for Carols in the Park. So they rehearse on the stage they will be using. Friday night is the dinner for People with a disability. They only decided which songs they were going to sing tonight. The following weekend they have the Dance Centre Xmas Show - the one they have been learning Bad Romance for - that's on Friday, and on Saturday night they have Sanctuary Point Carols - have to pull out my GPS thingy for that one. The following weekend is the big Carols in the Park, then 2 weeks later they'll do New Years Eve at Berry Showground. It's 3 gigs less than last year which is a plus. They were exhausted last year!

Congrats on fixing the Thingie Theresa, we still have the old fashioned kind that need little wires to be fixed - and they always seem to go after dark so I get to hold the torch while hubby fixes them. Though I have done it myself one time when he was at work.

Tami, when we were living in CA I never went shopping on black Friday, but my SisIL did most of her shopping that day. I bet she still does as she is really bad with computers, her kids joke that they showed her how to cut and paste at least 20 times and she still didn't get it.

I've never been organised, not when I was working, and definitely not now..

We're thinking of changing our thanksgiving dinner from Sun to Sat because of Ally's gig thingy, but I'm not sure the turkey will be defrosted or if Ebob can make it on Saturday..

Suzy, I spent 25 years in retail, 13 of them at Macy's. I have worked my share of Black Friday sales. I will be going to the store soon. Need to buy some necessities for house (food, paper products, etc) I was invited to go shopping at 2:00 am with a friend. I told him to get lost, I would be sleeping.

Just got off the phone with Hubby who has been for a job interview and starts next Wednesday. The contract is for 2 months so should see him into the new year. The firm he is just finished with asked if he could do a couple of extra days so he finishes with them on Tuesday. We had leased a car through our company because Richard was doing so many miles traveling to work, guess what... yep he will be using the train again as the new job is in London. I'll have the new car to run around in

MizT, just remember what goes around comes around.... Your neighbour was wonderful bringing you the Thanksgiving care parcel, but you did a good deed giving her grandson a small job cutting your lawns.
Suzy, sounds as if you are going to be busy ferrying Ally around for rehearsals..... just remember you are still recovering, though by what your friends have said it is going well.

Heidi, please keep the white stuff up your way! We had a rain, and temps falling, but only into the mid 40's, well above ice and snow temps. The wind chill is coolish though, thanks to winds at 12 MPH.

I am so glad the story of neighbor and care package brought a good feeling to so many of you. It sure did to us, good feeling and good eats. I must write a thank you note today.

Cats were happy to come in this morning and stay a while. They wanted me to turn off the rain. Now that it has stopped, I am their hero hehehe.

Theresa, yos, you deserve a coffee for braving both the dungeon and that boz of mysterious electrical connections. That thing always scares me just a bit, it could bite me! 46% increase in electric bill? OUCH, that would hurt major.

TAMI, don't you love the online coupons? I always Google whatever store I am shopping and usually find some current coupon I can use.

SUZY, sounds like PRIDE will be very busy this holiday season. Good luck getting through all of them with your sanity and health intact!

Black Friday shopping story: This was on the news again, I might have shared this a cou0le years ago when it ws on the local news.

There are 3 women from here in Chilton county who do Black Friday shopping up right. Every year on Thanksgiving afternoon, they check into the hotel attached to one of our biggest shopping centers, The Galleria. They arrive pulling a covered U-haul trailer. On Friday and Saturday, they complete ALL their Christmas shopping, load the trailer and drive back down here to cow country.

Brenda - great news. With the holidays coming it's always nice to have money coming in.

MizT, I call our basement a dungeon because it is not finished in any way. The walls are all made of rock and the beams are bigger than my waist (if that's possible). The floor does have a layer of concrete on it, but very uneven. It is spider haven! The stairs are steep and rickety and I hate going down there. It's also dampish.

Good luck Heidi.

I will be off shortly to look after the grandies. Just enjoying my third cup of coffee today, or is it fourth? Oh well ......

A friend sent me a poem, and I'm in it...

English Pronunciation

Dearest creature in Creation,
Study English pronunciation.
I will teach you in my verse
Sounds like corpse, corps, horse, and worse.

I will keep you, Suzy, busy,
Make your head with heat grow dizzy.
Tear in eye, your dress will tear.
So shall I Oh hear my prayer.

Just compare heart, beard, and heard,
Dies and diet, lord and word,
Sword and sward, retain and Britain.
(Mind the latter, how it's written.)

Now I surely will not plague you
With such words as plaque and ague.
But be careful how you speak
Say break and steak, but bleak and streak;
Cloven, oven, how and low,
Script, receipt, show, poem, and toe.

Hear me say, devoid of trickery,
Daughter, laughter, and Terpsichore,
Typhoid, measles, topsails, aisles,
Exiles, similes and reviles;
Scholar, vicar, and cigar.

Solar, mica, war and far;
One, anemone, Balmoral
Kitchen, lichen, laundry, laurel;
Gertrude, German, wind and mind,
Scene, Melpomene, mankind.

Billet does not rhyme with ballet,
Bouquet, wallet, mallet, chalet.
Blood and flood are not like food,
Nor is mould like should and would.

Viscous, viscount, load and broad,
Toward, to forward, to reward.
And your pronunciation' s OK
When you correctly say croquet,
Rounded, wounded, grieve and sieve,
Friend and fiend, alive and live.

Ivy, privy, famous; clamor
And enamor rhyme with hammer.
River, rival, tomb, bomb, comb,
Doll and droll and some and home.

Stranger does not rhyme with anger,
Neither does devour with clangor.
Soul but foul, haunt but aunt,
Font, front, wont, want, grand, and grant,
Shoes, goes, does. Now first say finger,
And then singer, ginger, linger,
Real, zeal, mauve, gauze, gouge and gauge,
Marriage, foliage, mirage, and age.

Query does not rhyme with very,
Nor does fury sound like bury.
Dost, lost, post and doth, cloth, loth.
Job, knob, bosom, transom, oath.

Through the differences seem little,
We say actual, but also victual.
Refer does not rhyme with deafer.
Foeffer does, and zephyr, heifer.

Mint, pint, senate and sedate;
Dull, bull, and George ate late.
Scenic, Arabic, Pacific,
Science, Conscience, scientific.

Liberty, library, heave and heaven,
Rachel, ache, moustache, eleven.
We say hallowed, but allowed,
People, leopard, towed, but vowed.

Mark the differences, moreover,
Between mover, cover, clover;
Leeches, breeches, wise, precise,
Chalice, but police and lice;
Camel, constable, unstable,
Principle, disciple, label.

Petal, panel, and canal,
Wait, surprise, plait, promise, pal.
Worm and storm, chaise, chaos, chair,
Senator, spectator, mayor.

Tour, but our and succor, four.
Gas, alas, and Arkansas.
Sea, idea, Korea, area,
Psalm, Maria, but malaria.
Youth, south, southern, cleanse and clean.
Doctrine, turpentine, marine.

Compare alien with Italian,
Dandelion and battalion.
Sally with ally, yea, ye.
Eye, I, ay, aye, whey, and key.

Say aver, but ever, fever,
Neither, leisure, skein, deceiver.
Heron, granary, canary.
Crevice and device and aerie.

Face, but preface, not efface.
Phlegm, phlegmatic, brass, glass, bass.
Large, but target, gin, give, verging.
Ought, out, joust and scour, scourging.

Ear, but earn and wear and tear
Do not rhyme with here, but ere.
Seven is right, but so is even,
Hyphen, roughen, nephew Stephen,
Monkey, donkey, Turk and jerk,
Ask, grasp, wasp, and cork and work.

Pronunciation - think of Psyche!
Is it paling, stout and spiky?
Won't it make you lose your wits,
Writing groats and saying grits?

It's a dark abyss or tunnel
Strewn with stones, stowed, solace, gunwale,
Islington and Isle of Wight,
Housewife, verdict and indict.

Finally, which rhymes with enough -
Though, through, plough, or dough, or cough?
Hiccough has the sound of cup.
My advise is to give it up!!!

Hubby and I have just returned from our fortnightly shopping. ON the way home, we passed the party to beat all parties in Cockatoo. There were so many cars parked on the side of the road, and they even have overflow parking at the oval near us, with a shuttle bus doing the run back and forth. The police and CFA are in attendence to help with traffic control, and even the weather we are having today can't dampen anyone's spirits.
The reason? I little girl's 7th birthday and Christmas combined. Little Mikayla has a rare form of liver cancer and her parents were told that she wouldn't see Christmas and to bring it forward...
