Bon Jovi are on in Brissie tonight and I have a few (younger) FB friends there texting to FB at every song!! Karin is there but not texting.
Also have some friends who won tickets to Oprah on local radio - flew down yesterday, accommodation, meals and transfers included and went to the second show. She (the wife) was disappointed at not getting the earlier show because Bon Jovi were on but the second show had Hugh Jackman (although he got hurt in the stunt) - no contest - Hugh wins!! They're still flying home as I type - will hear all tomorrow.

Cyn, I agree. I don't think I could do YMCA anymore. Then again, I don't think I ever could do it I have never been known to be graceful.

Tami - I never was and never will be graceful - I never said I could do them gracefully, just that I could do them!! lol
You Floridians are like we Queenslanders - we can't cope with the cold either. And we never have clothes to suit the cold, nor do our stores sell them!

I heard far too much Bon Jovi and far too high a decibel rate for far too many years with my daughter living at home until she was 24 and got married. She just wouldn't move out with her music and leave us in peace!! Hehehe! That's what we tell her, anyway.

Cyn, I did the same thing to my mom. I used to crank up the stereo just to bug her. My favorite song to blast at her was Billy Joel's "My Life" My kids don't blast their music, they just plug into an ipod. Our stores do sell winter stuff, usually for people traveling. Both boys got new jackets this year that are warm. They just layer shirts under their jackets and they are good. The schools have heat so it is not a problem.

Tami - when I was growing up we had (and don't anybody laugh) vinyl records. What I used to play to get a rise from my Mum (poor old dear now, love ya Mum) was The Who's 'My Generation'.
I adhered to the words - 'hope I die before I get old' and thought that would be around 30. By 30 I had kids and wanted to wait until they were grown up, so I extended it to maybe 50. Now I realise that age is a state of mind and I don't ever intend to grow old. But, by golly, am I watching my contemporaries accept getting older with nary a whimper! Rage against it, I say!

JUNE, loved the photo, looks like you all had fun. Did Laura enjoy the Christmas lights? Just would not seem right to me, hot and steamy and Christmas lights, but it is all what one grows accustomed to, right?

TAMI, Florida's cold snap made our news last night. They mentioned that many in South Florida do not have heat. That would be a bit cold with no heat? Did your house stay warm? Were the school buses warm once the children got on? How about your schools?

Temp in my house dropped over night, just a bit chill. The wind is the reason, just cooled down the walls and sucked up our heat. I did not have to light the kerosene heat, but was comforting to know we had back up if needed. No frozen water pipes, though I did find ice in the cold water line in my bathroom ( northern most end of house) but since it had not completely frozen, letting it run a minute melted the ice. WHEW, lucky!

Heidi, thoughts and prayers to your friend and her daughter. It is a sad situation. I hope having you offer a place to live is a big help to the daughter, it is a generous offer.

Julie, sending you some extra time for today, sounds like you could use it! Hope the shopping for supplies goes well.

About to go to pate 469, so I shall post now rather than risk loosing this.

Evening all.
Not long home, about to go to bed.
Hubby and I had a great time this evening, enjoying the company of my sister and the Travel Club.
Left from the Centre 4.00pm on the Tour Bus down to Mandurah, Fish and Chips dinner, then on the Boat cruising the Canals, looking at the Christmas Lights.. Some people made a big effort, some very spectacular decorations. Then on the Bus back to the centre, arriving back 10.00pm.
Have photos, will have to resize and put on my page, sometime soonish.

I'm back and the steer has been delivered..... over icy roads. It was not a pleasant job. Robert helped load him up and unload him at the processor. He was invaluable, especially since IH is out of town.

I came back to a delightful surprise. A baby budgie has left the nest!!! It's a baby blue color with a yellow face and chest.

I haven't wanted to bother the first time budgie parents, so I haven't checked the nest boxes to see if there were any babies. There may be more, for all I know. This one is still half bald.

Heidi, what a great surprise, new babies! Is your sun room nice and warm for them, with all the windows and all the cold weather outside? I am thrilled you have new baby birds, congratulations Mom!

The sunroom is delightfully warm for them. Because of the flooring in there.... the concrete slab... I do have a space heater in there to compensate. It tends to be a couple of degrees warmer than the rest of the house.
I just took another look at the baby Lovebirds. The nest box is dark inside, but it looks like they're both yellow bodied. One has a cherry red face and the other looks like it's pied ... that's yellow and white spotted.

And got a better look at the second baby. It looks like a creamino instead of a pied. I was told that the parents carried the creamino gene, as well as the pied and yellow genes. I've just submitted a smilie of a creamino, too.

Good Morning my friends. Sounds like everyone is having a good time with parties, hope you are all well.
Have to take a day off work today to take Pete for his MRI on his shoulder/arm, he tried to have it done yesterday but found out he was claustrophobic. If this doesn't work today he will have to wait until February and go into hospital to be knocked out for the MRI to be done which will delay the operation. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Good morning all.
Broni - hope Pete manages to cope with the MRI today. I know, if I needed one, I would definately need to be sedated.
Sending 'warm' wishes to those of you topside who are affected by the cold.
Heidi - delighted to hear about your baby birds, how exciting!

IH got home and stormed into the house, raging about G*D D*MN Robert. I asked, calmly, what the problem was. He said that Robert had been driving back from behind the house, slid off the driveway on the ice and was hung up. I told him that Robert wasn't here. He yelled back that Robert certainly WAS here, and I had to go outside, with my wet hair, and pull him out with the tractor. So I bundled up and walked outside to see who was here. It was one of IH's employees. So I told him to stop grousing about Robert and I fired up my tractor and pulled the guy out. It's never dull here.

I'm back, my house is bombed and hopefully flea free. I've had a nice cup of coffee by myself, read the local paper and found both a picture of Ally and a job that looks interesting - 3 months writing operational procedures.

Saw a friend I'd just been thinking about driving down the street and waved, she met up with me and bought me a cold drink. We walked past a shop in town that I have never been inside, a new clothing shop and new clothes haven't been in my dudget for a long time. Out the front was a pretty pink top reduced from $80 to $20, it rang up at $15 because everything in the shop was 25% off, it took her a while but she talked me into letting her buy me one too...

Not a bad morning...

I'v had a few MRIs and they don't bother me at all because you're not actually closed in - the tube is large and open. If it were narrower I might have problems though.

Look at all the missing letters! I'm slurring my typing again. I'd better go look for droopy face in the mirror...

I also found out this morning that the friend who brought me flowers and a cook book on my birthday didn't actually know it was my birthday, they were just to cheer me up because she had just found out about Ebob and my stroke.

I have the best friends in the world!! Hugs to everyone, hope you all have a day as good as mine!!

Suzy - I got claustrophobic having a brain scan - I tried to sit up in panic and put the machine out of kilter. They weren't impressed because they had to reset it again. Did I get a mouthful from the technician. I just can't help it.
I hope you were joking about looking in the mirror. Pleas don't scare us again.

I didn't have a problem with the MRI in itself. My problem is that it hurt my back to lay on it so long. I just closed my eyes through the procedure and pretended that i was in a big field, and the noise was farm machinery.
