Hi all!
Tami, Harley is a beautiful boy.
I can see he has wormed his way into your heart already.
Angelique. Wow I can't believe that she is already 3.
I'm back at work today and this is the first time I've had some breathing space. I got the pantry sorted yesterday after a trip to Howards storage world. I got some of those 3 tier shelves to hold cans and now I can see what I have on hand (including 3 cans of evaporated milk
). The pantry looks good but I just have to keep it that way.
I'm not a hoarder but hubby seems to keep every piece of paper that passes by him. I'm forever cleaning up our bookcase and making him throw things away. That is part of the reason why we bought another bookcase. I've only put it in place but will get organised and start packing it with things soon. That will mean another mess to be cleaned up.
I hope everyone is starting to feel better!

Cyn, I'm so glad you ran into your workmate again and that he looked better! 20 years is a long time.
Brenda, I hope your day wasn't too noisy! I just read a news story about the floods - an isolated rural home with an area about the size of a football field clear around the house. The only 'people' there, the couple who own the farm and about 1000 snakes. I hope they took photos or nobody will believe them!!
Cyn, I'm going to have to start a scrabble game with you. Up until now I've only played lexulous.
Heidi, Julie is right, you were getting better and then had a relapse, that might actually be worth mentioning - especially with chronic fatigue about which not enough is known.
Harley is gorgeous. I had heard that labs don't bark - then next door got two and for the longest time they barked almost constantly. They have calmed down a little lately, but when she breeds them again it will start all over.
Judy, can you 'not mean' to naelc at my place please???
Thinking of the sickies, may you all be well soon!

Something has gotten surreal here. IH just left for a few days at the plant, with an interesting evening tomorrow. Antiques Roadshow will be filming in a town near his plant, so he took along some old items that had been his great grandfather's. One is a muzzle-loader from the Civil War, with a regimental insignia and initials on it. He's also taking some helmets from WW1. The muzzle-loader is in excellent condition and can be fired. In fact, IH has fired it.

Heidi, it must be really late where you are, why are you still up?
Yep you named that farm well, well I assumed you named it? Do you think there are changes in the air with IH?
Ooops again, hello to all my friends, well some I have just not met yet.

Good morning all. It is way too early for me to be up. One of our smoke alarms went off at 4:30 this morning. I can not find anything wrong. We have 5 smoke alarms: one in each of the bedrooms, one in the upstairs hallway(which is only about 10 feet (3 meters) long, and one downstairs. Only one went off. If there was a problem, all would have gone off. As I get up at 5:15 anyways, I came down, took Harley out and am waiting for Mitchell to get up for school.

Morning all.
MizT, yes, I had a nice 3 hour nap. If I am up at night and there is laundry to do, I do try to take advantage of the lower rates for hydro. Every little bit helps. I don't have a lot of laundry because it's just hubby and I, but the cat blankets can tend to pile up.
We took our tree and decorations down on Sunday. It was such a nice tree that I hated to take it down. I don't know if I mentioned that it had two spikes at the top, and we have two angels for the top of the tree - so we got the grandies to each put an angel on the top. It looked a bit funny with two angels on the top, but it prevented fights over who would get to put the angel there!
Tami, the smoke alarm going off would be scary. Are you the only one who heard it? Is it also a carbon monoxide detector?
I am looking after the grandies this morning for several hours. I have a feeling I'm going to be very tired this afternoon.
Catch you all later!

I am tired tonight. Sharon came and spent hours going through old photos. Then we went to the shops to get Laura new shoes for school.
Laura did sleep well in the computer room. She generally sleeps in the queen bed in the second bedroom but it is made up for when my son comes back next week. I offered her one of the single beds in the other room where the boys will sleep but she wanted me to make up the bed on the floor.

I also did not get a lot of jobs done that I will have to do early tomorrow, like take down the tree and put away some ironing etc. I think all grandmothers understand there is always more work to do after the grandies have gone home!

Heidi, do you think IH is planning on selling those items or maybe just wanting to insure them?
BTW, hubby likes his job so he didn't mind going back to work. Plus he is moving offices to another building where he will have a larger office all to himself.

Tami, Harley is a great looking dog and it seems that he has settled in well.
Heidi, Hope you feel better soon. It will be interesting to see the Antiques Roadshow and the value they put on Gil's treasures. We get the English version but I do not think I have seen an American one.

Tami, we had an alarm that malfunctioned and started going off without cause. Also if it has a battery, check if it needs a new battery.
Theresa, pleased you had a nice nap. I hope you will not be too tired after the girls have gone home. Lets hope it will not be too long before your daughter can have her operation.

I was not the only one to get up. All of us got up and the kids started to go downstairs in case of emergency. It only sounded for about 15 seconds. Long enough to wake us up. I will have hubby replace the batteries. We try to do that every 6 months. When the battery is dead it chirps like a cricket.

Tami, I woke up at 4:30 - it must have been your smoke detector that woke me up!
June, the 6 month mark is now up for my daughter, and we still haven't heard anything about the surgery. Sigh. I got a letter from our province's health minister and she blames the doctor. I was so angry when I got it that I didn't reply yet. We have a shortage of doctors, but a serious shortage in hospital beds because they are filled with chronic care patients. It's the province's fault for not planning chronic care facilities, and this with the baby boomers aging as well! I will reply to the letter when I've calmed down. Talk about passing the buck. It's also the province's fault there's a shortage of doctors - Canadian doctors are moving to the States, partially because of caps and restrictions that are placed on the doctors.

I know Gil is interested in selling the muzzle loader... why, I don't know, because it's been one of his prized possessions. I told him that this way, he'd get an independent evaluation of it, and if his segment is televised, a lot of exposure for it. It can only help him get a better price for it. I consider the helmets to be junk. They've never been cared for or maintained. And they're not exactly rare. He wanted to take a drum along that he says is also Civil War, but the rawhide strings on one side broke, and somebody had replaced them with a cheap cotton string so it looks awful. I told him that they would tell him that it was worthless.

Smart. Very smart. It helps to have a big, strong guy around to move it for you and set it in place. If that was IH, he'd look at it and whine that it was too heavy for him to move.

Heidi, if IH's segment is televised, please let us know when it will be aired. We get the American, British and Canadian shows here.
I didn't look after the grandies this morning, but will do so Saturday morning instead. Just as well because I was really tired and had a nap.

Morning all,
We used to see the American version of Antiques Roadshow when we had Austar/cable. We cancelled that a couple of years ago now though.I've never seen the Canadian version though.
Brenda, congratulations on your new machine! We did the same to get ours home. We will have to pay for delivery when the fridge dies though. We wouldn't have had to wait as long though. I wonder why it takes so long where you are?
Theresa, how could it be the doctor's fault? Has your daughter reached the point where she is willing to have an advocate yet? She must be exhausted by now, living with all this pain!!
Tami, the tradition here is to replace batteries in smoke detectors when daylight savings starts. A good reminder. I hope you managed to get some more sleep. We had something similar happen with a CO detector.
Heidi, from what I've seen there are long lines at the roadshow thingys. I wonder if Gil will be willing to wait in them.
June, it is wonderful your son will be back (?). Will he stay a few days?

Suzy, I had plenty of time at home. It was the first time I had some free time at work yesterday. The first day back is always chaotic. Two weeks worth of work to be caught up with makes for a busy day.
Good Morning all!
Brenda, great news about the washing machine. These big strong sons sure come in handy. I used James to collect my bookcase on Tuesday. He just picked it up and carried it out to his ute. They did offer a trolley to move it but he didn't need it.
Hi Ho Hi Ho, it's off to work I go. See you all later.

Heidi - do please let us know about how Gil goes on the Antiques Roadshow. How exciting - I love that show both the British and American versions - we onlt get 1 American version every week but the British one is on every night, hence we end up with repeats.

Remember... very few of the people with their antiques are selected to be on the show. I do think that gun is worth it, tho'. It's a beauty, and distinctive. It came from an Ohio regiment, and the owner carved the regiment's insignia (an acorn) and his initials on it. It's been in Gil's family for nearly 125 years.

I've been sleeping WAY too much, but I think it's my body's way of recovering from the head trauma and the head cold. I wasn't taking it easy (the drive to Chattanooga) so my body crashed. I have the feeling that I'll be up and running tomorrow. I'm feeling refreshed.

Heidi, my hubby is a Civil War enthusiast and would be fascinated with the gun. Good luck to IH.
Suzy, orthopedic surgeons have set guidelines to follow for surgery waiting times. For example, my daughter's femur has collapsed by 25%, but if it had collapsed by 40% she would be much higher on the list. The Health Minister feels the doctor could bump her surgery up, but if that happened someone else with a "greater" need for the surgery would be bumped. That's assuming the doctor would bump my daughter up, which likely wouldn't happen anyway. My daughter still does not want an advocate. She has it in her head that she does not want to tick off a man who will be cutting her open. I think I've mentioned to you before that she has other problems which cannot be explained or understood by others. If anyone wants to know about this, they can send me a PM.
I am losing what energy I had. I've taken it relatively easy today. In fact, one of the doll blankets that I am knitting is almost done - 7 rows to go. It's a heart pattern and it's really quite pretty.
Hubby is working late, so I guess I should scrounge up something for me to eat. Hope to catch you later (if I don't fall asleep first).

Theresa.... he has a bunch of Civil War stuff. I find it too depressing to put on display (such as a blood soaked piece of flag), cannon balls, uniform, and all sorts of arms and bayonets. That one gun is the only item I think is beautiful. I don't know why he's talking of selling it. I wish he'd sell the rest of the Civil War stuff and keep that one gun.

Brenda, you had my curiosity up, whatever is a sack barrow. I asked Mr Google, gee, just your every day hand trucks hehehe. We have a couple of those here, light duty and heavy duty. come in handy for moving things about. Even a refrigerator!
SUZY, how is Ebob doing? Hope things are harmonious in your household.
Heidi, since when has Gill taken your wishes into consideration? I too would like to hear what he finds from the Antique Roadshow. Al has some interest in things Civil War related.

Afternoon all,
Refilled the freezer and cupboard, well, topped them up a little anyway. Got a wheel alignment for the car since some stupid woman driver ran into a gutter and knocked it well and truly out of alignment!!

Theresa, it's hard to imagine anyone with a greater need than your daughter. Assuming that 40% collapse is even more painful and debilitating I can see where your hesitation comes from.
