As meetings go, it was a bust. We tried a new meeting place. There were so many distractions that everybody was wandering around, and only 3 of us sat down for a meeting. The 3 of us decided a lot without interference from others. We're going to the new restaurant down the road from us next month.

Hi all. Today was a pupil-free day at school. Unfortunately we were in meetings most of the day.
I have read the posts but am having a hard time remembering anything. Good vibes and {{{HUGS}}} to all who need them.

Just back from looking after the grandies ... oh, my aching head. The oldest was testing me and I held my ground. When my daughter came home I told her she owes me a large bottle of Tylenol!

We're expecting about 2 cm of snow tonight and another 2 cm tomorrow. At least when it snows it won't be so horribly cold. High of -10C tomorrow. Thank goodness this cold snap is almost over!

eaa: Tomorrow is never promised, so hold tight what you can today, put aside what happened in the past and live like there is no tomorrow. I like this one ... definitely words to live by.

Greetings friends, posting without reading. I went to doc today, took most of the day, DRATS. It seems to be going round, whatever this is I have. got antibiotics, steroids, cough medicine. Did you know medicare in it's supreme wisdon will not pay for cough syrup? I will have to go back tomorrow to get that. Doc was asking me about being so out of breath, did my chest hurt too. YEO. He was reay to run cardiac tests untill I told him my sister had same thing, including the short of breath, he said that made him feel litle bit better about not testing for heart problems. I have 10 day of antibiotics, if not improved then, come back.

Al did well enough today, he is going to drive himself tomorrow. will only be for radiation tomorrow. AND to go ppick up his new wath caps. A church group os making them for all the baldies getting chemo, an AL forgot his today.

OK, I need to go rest a bit, even being on puter gets tiring. Later friends,

Gekko all,
Hugs MizT, are you still falling asleep in your dinner? I hope you are catching up on your sleep? Did you ask the doctor about help with that?

Hugs to you and Al... not good weather to forget his cap!

Theresa, is sounds like your oldest grandie is as stressed by all this as you are. Good for you for holding your ground, structure is what everyone says helps - except for your head. Hugs to you too

I shouldn't be here, I'm procrastinating. I have an interview on Friday and need to be studying and memorising some stuff.

Suzy - Thursday/Friday whatever - you'll be in our thoughts - hope all goes well.
Despite our very warm temps here today, I'm feeling chilly just thinking of those cold temps. It is what you get used to. I imagine anyone coming into our hot humid climate might feel stifled, whereas we all have our methods of dealing with it. I fear cold weather more than hot weather. I also fear bushfires more than floods. Go figure?

I may have missed this discussion but what was everyone's opinion on Oprah's Australian shows?
I am not a huge fan and seldom watch but I so enjoyed them and got teary when they all sang 'I still call Australia Home' at the end of the last show. That was the one my friends were at - now I can see why they raved about it.

Gekko, Everyone!

Hi, Heidi, CynB, Suzy, MizTricia, June, Gail, Theresa, Brenda, eaa and Tami!

Heidi, is snow better than mud? Just wondering what we should be hoping for! Enjoy the hours while IH is away!

Oh, my, Cyn, you've certainly met a lot of our Sudoku friends! And not an axe murderer among them!

MizT, I'm so glad Joy has been able to stay this long and help with some of the things that needed to be done! After she is gone, remember to take some time for yourself and insist that you get as much rest as you need, just like Al! I hope you will soon be feeling better! It's so good to hear that Al is making progress - and hope that the treatments took place as scheduled today!

June, I have to find time to read the Larsson books! Hope you enjoy being the umpire at bowls!

Nola, instead of thinking of the semester ahead and worrying, just remember all you have accomplished so far! You can do it!

Nice fly-by, Gail! I hope you two are enjoying your visits!

Theresa, I hope you continue to sleep better and get naps as needed. Hopefully the grandies, especially the older one, are in good moods! Is she particularly sensitive and maybe picking up on stress and worry in the family? Sometimes things adults take for granted or just have more experience with can throw little ones completely off-kilter. Hope you have a good day!

Brenda, I'm so glad your engagement ring came back looking as good as new! I hope the diamond stays secure for a good long time!

Today was the first of 4 days we didn't wear long underwear. Even though the temperature was in the high teens F, it is damp and a good wind is blowing, so we actually feel colder. At least we only had another inch or so of snow overnight!

eaa, I truly enjoy the words of wisdom you share with us! How are you?

Heidi, I'm sorry the new meeting place for your Lion's Club held so many distractions. On the other hand, it seems like you got a lot done! Hopefully the restaurant next month will work out better.

Tami, pupil-free day = good; meetings = bad. That seems like a wash. I hope your day tomorrow will be better!

Theresa, sorry it was another tough day with the grandies. If the older one is kept occupied and doing something, is her behavior better? Hopefully she will quit testing you on everything you say and do soon! Hope you can get some rest! Do you meditate?

MizT, I'm so glad you were able to see the doctor. Hopefully everything will have you feeling better soon! I'm glad Al can drive himself tomorrow! With these cold temperatures, he really needs to remember his cap - a hard thing to do if you aren't in the habit of wearing one! I hope you both sleep well tonight!

Suzy, thinking positive thoughts for your interview on THURSDAY! We know you will do well! You can do it! We know you can! You would make a great teacher!

Cyn, I also don't watch Oprah, so know nothing about her shows aired from Oz. Apparently the big thing today was that she announced that she

Julie and Theresa - I never watch Oprah either but she came to Australia (in November, I think), bringing 300 or so of her faithful fans and they toured all the hot tourists spots and filmed 2 shows at Sydney Opera House. It was mostly at the expense of our Federal and State Governments intented to pull in the tourist dollar (so nothing altruistic there).
There were 4 shows all up, 2 of them showing them all touring around Australia, well the East Coast. It may have made an impact on prospective tourist if not for the unfortunate timing of the shows, just when there was severe flooding in areas along the East Coast. That said, I'm sure their filming does look impressive to those wondering where in the world to go next.
The final song that stirred me so much was sung by guests Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Olivia Newton John, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban.

Hi all.
Suzy, I will be thinking of you on Thursday. I have confidence in you. You passed all the course work and survived the practical. You are qualified to teach and they will know that when they meet you.
I also do not watch Oprah. I would like to visit Australia but Oprah has nothing to do with that

For Australia Day we pose the question: what are the three Aussiest things in the world? Let’s open the bidding with a tube of zinc cream, a burnt sausage, and a Paul Kelly album.

SUZY, it was new caps on offer, free, that he forgot. He had on his cap he came in with. A church group knits the caps, and gives them to the patient who lost their hair.

NO, not falling asleep in my food now, thankfully. NO to getting anything to help with sleep. He had his mind on getting me over this ug, and I did sleep better last night. Breathing easier helpe that a lot. Good luck with your interview.

CYN, the funny thing about the bathing suit inident was, noone knew I was pregnant! Bathing suit was one with an apron, popular at that time and made so it did not show. Actually they did not believe me when I said I was, had to tuck that apron under the belly to convince her. too funny.

Cyn, perhaps because you have never seen anyone successfully float away on a brush fire?

No way to convince her to stay longer, she must get back to her job. BUT she has decided to move back home. Now for jobs to present themselves is the next thing. Ideally, they would let her telecommute, work from here, as everything she does is on the puter. We will see. back to bed fore I finished, but making progress. Hugs and extras.

I'm being a baaaad girl. Instead of getting work done, I've been watching videos. I bought the complete collection of the '70's TV show Kung Fu, and have been watching episodes consecutively. I'm half way through the first season already. I have to run out and get dog food before the snow/ ice storm forecast for tonight, tho'.

Hope I have not already said this, scroll on by if I did. I woke this morning to power outage. No coffee, cold cereal for breakfast. House cooledrapidly and after 2 hour. I had to light the kerosene heter. Funes and effor required left me huffing and poffing. Huby slept through it all, he had been awake during night, so he slept in today/ he is off to his appointment, under his own steam. He was upset with me, bor bringing home car with no gas. Geeze, I did good to get me to and from doc yesterday, and I did tell him first thing! nephew reports flu like feelings. What he describes are things I have had. Poor docs cannot seem to figure this our, but they are like the 3 blind men describing the elephant. Just do not have the whole picture.

OK, falling aslep at the computer, best get a nap here. boy has ben going through a lot, needs down time.

Tricia

Morning all,
Been off scanning the news.. I wish someone would just publish a list of the people awarded Australia Day honours with a paragraph about why.

Heidi, we watched a borrowed copy of that last year. It was a trip down memory lane.

MizT, I'm glad you slept better even without help. With the way you react to meds I'm not sure what he could have done for you.

Tami, a trip to Disneyworld with you and the boys would be wonderful!

Broni, I love that photo - Mr Grasshopper has a wicked sense of humour taking axes with him to the meet!
