Broni, my boys love the rides at Disney. They will drag you on all of them. We try to go on the best ones several times if possible. Disney has gotten very expensive. It is almost $90 for a one day pass.

My Country

by Dorothea McKellar
(1885–1968)

an iconic poem about Australia

The love of field and coppice,
Of green and shaded lanes,
Of ordered woods and gardens
Is running in your veins.
Strong love of grey-blue distance,
Brown streams and soft, dim skies -
I know but cannot share it,
My love is otherwise.
I love a sunburnt country,
A land of sweeping plains,
Of ragged mountain ranges,
Of droughts and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons,
I love her jewel-sea,
Her beauty and her terror –
The wide brown land for me!

The stark white ring-barked forests,
All tragic to the moon,
The sapphire-misted mountains,
The hot gold hush of noon,
Green tangle of the brushes
Where lithe lianas coil,
And orchids deck the tree-tops,
And ferns the warm dark soil.

Core of my heart, my country!
Her pitiless blue sky,
When, sick at heart, around us
We see the cattle die –
But then the grey clouds gather,
And we can bless again
The drumming of an army,
The steady soaking rain.

Core of my heart, my country!
Land of the rainbow gold,
For flood and fire and famine
She pays us back threefold.
Over the thirsty paddocks,
Watch, after many days,
The filmy veil of greenness
That thickens as we gaze.

An opal-hearted country,
A wilful, lavish land –
All you who have not loved her,
You will not understand –
Though earth holds many splendours,
Wherever I may die,
I know to what brown country
My homing thoughts will fly.

Disney World is bigger than Disneyland. A one day ticket at Disneyland, California is $76 and a one day ticket at Disney World, Florida is $87. That does not include tax.

There are SO many things that are uniquely Aussie. It's hard to pick just three.

Welcome home, Gail. You need to tell us all about it once you're over the traveling.

All sorts of cold and wet stuff is falling from the sky again. This has really gotten old. It warmed up enough today that all the snow melted, and the ground turned to mud. Now this. I wish it would stay dry, and the ground would freeze to solidify the mud. The ground can dry out from the frozen state as easily as the regular way, if not more easily. And it's easier on the livestock.

Gekko and good evening!

Hi, CynB, Broni, Heidi, Tami, MizTricia, Theresa, Suzy, eaa, June, Rolanda, Brenda and Gail!

Happy Australia Day!

Good luck with your interview on Thursday, Suzy! I'll be thinking of you and sending positive thoughts! Extreme confidence in you, my dear!

MizT, sorry Al forgot to get a new cap! So pleased that you slept better! I hope that continues for both of you! Positive thoughts for Joy in convincing her employer to allow her to telecommute! I hope you weren't without power for too long!

Wonderful gems from eaa!

Shall we accept eaa's challenge? "Page 555 and post 22222 before MARCH the first." That's just a page a day, if my calculations are correct. We can do it!

Welcome back, Gail!

Good strong vibes at the interview tomorrow Suzy. They do like mature teachers and I hope you get the job.
From tomorrow we will have MIL staying till Monday as her daughter is going to Melbourne for the tennis. I will also have Laura for a few days as Sharon has to work on Friday and Laura does not start school till Thursday next week.
Back to bed for me!

at your interview tomorrow, Suzy. Try not to stress about it now, tho'. If you get the job, GREAT! If you don't, maybe that means your brain needs more healing time. I'm actually concerned that this interview may be a little too soon after the stroke.

I need to get dressed in a few, and go pick up cousin Don's tractor. Mine is now in the shop for an unknown period of time. Don generously let me use the tractor I sold him, until mine is back. The mechanic has verified that the damage to the tractor IS a result of the accident when the car hit us. It just took a while for it to become apparent, and more severe.

I am back, and I'm an icicle. It was a 40 minute drive in an open tractor, covered in ice and snow, with a frigid wind blowing in my face for 30 minutes of that time. The actual temperature outside is 28 /-2.2℃, but it's always 10℉ colder up on the tractor. Add the wind, and it was COLD. Once I got back, I had to feed hay to everybody. Which they really appreciated. I'm finally inside, and fixing a mug of hot chocolate. I earned it.

BTW... I really love this little tractor, and wish I hadn't sold it. At least I do get to use her in an emergency like this.
