I'm here - just having trouble getting focused today. Not enough sleep last night, so I feel kind of groggy and fuzzy. So in other words, a normal day for me.

I'm here too. Have had a lovely day out with Kay. We had lunch and then went up to Cambridge to do a little sight seeing.

Wonderful news Brenda ♥

Hi all. Up early because today is Hannah's first day back at school. This is her final year of high school, and she hopes to go on to uni after.
Yesterday she and I went to the hairdresser, a pleasant thing to do after the Yasi stress! I had my usual colour and cut...Hannah now has blue hair! It looks ok really, blue splotches on a black base, and cut in an asymmetric fashion. She loves it, and it reinforces her 'I'm an individual' persona. Steph, our hairdresser, says Hannah keeps her on her toes, and makes her think!

It's raining here today, fairly heavily. It is weather coming down from Queensland after Cyclone Anthony, wich was a small cyclone that went through in front of Yasi. They are warning of flooding in Victoria! Wonder what we will have in the wake of Yasi!

Trust her Suzy, Hannah proved to me that what she wanted did not look as outlandish as it sounded! But only if you have a hairdresser that you trust and who capable of miracles :)

No rain here so far, but possible thunderstorms forecast. Something had better happen as it is 100% humidity and miserable!

Oops, I complained about the weather.

Well, I'd better get going, a friend of Ebob's is staying tonight so I want to clean the wet rooms..

Headline: The Queensland town of Tully is in a state of excessive ruin after violent cyclone Yasi ripped through.......

I think we knew it was awful without the excessive use of disastrous adjectives.

Hi all. Just stopping in for a moment, have a lot to do tonight.
Suzy, of course the news has to make everything sound much worse than it might really be. I know Yasi was a horrible storm, but they could go easy on the adjectives.
Heidi, I would love to stop in during the day but the school board has a block on game sites at school. It is not easy to get around it and not worth losing my job.
Brenda, glad you had a good day with Kay.
Gotta go get some ffuts done. I don't know if I will be back later, if not, see y'all in the morning.

Hubby just called, his car went into a ditch on the way home. He moved over for a fire truck and I guess he slid right into the ditch. He is OK and is waiting for road side assistance. Poor guy is going to be so tired and hungry.

I just made a nasty discovery. My oldest male collie, Cole, was walking on the thin ice covering the pond and fell through. I didn't discover him in time. Cole was the perfect gentleman all his life. Even as a puppy he was perfectly behaved. And he loved everyone.
Rest In Peace, Cole.

So sorry, Heidi. You have talked about Cole before and it was obvious he was very loved. RIP Cole.

Are you OK, Suzy? I worry about you.

Hubby says he thinks the car is OK, but won't know for sure until the tow truck comes to pull him out of the ditch. There's a 90 minute wait for the tow truck. It happened just outside a fire station, so he went there to use the phone. The fire truck didn't stop because he was on his way to a call. With the wind it's -12C right now, and he has to wait outside and flag down the tow truck. Again I say, poor guy.

He would have gone fairly quickly of hypothermia. He was in the shallow end and could have climbed out fairly easily. For all I know, that first shock of icy water could have caused a heart attack. His health has been poor lately, and he had no fat cover to insulate him. I honestly was expecting to lose him soon. There is a picture of the old man on my page.... I believe the fifth one from the end.

Just passing on the gist of a message on FB from Susan/Qld's son. They don't have internet or mobile access at the moment. Flood waters are still rising, but not expected to reach their house. Everyone is ok and in high spirits, and she thanks all for their concerns and well wishes.

Hubby is home and the car is fine. While he was waiting for the tow truck the fire truck came back from its call ... out came about 6 fireman and literally lifted the car out of the ditch. The benefits of a small car.

I am going to make it an early night. Tomorrow is a PA day for the grandies, so I am sure I will be called upon for extra duty. See you tomorrow.

Suzy.... does that death really qualify as a casualty of Yasi? I'd call it death by stupidity, myself. Yeah, I know... Yasi started the chain of events so technically gets blamed.

Gekko, Everyone! Getting here later than usual tonight! I hope you are all well!

Hi, Theresa, Heidi, Suzy, Brenda, Tami and Suzanne (after my last post on page 537)!

Theresa, I hope your snow finally stopped - and hope it wasn't followed by the COLD temperatures we've been having!

Heidi, is there anything exciting that will be happening in the next couple of days?

Brenda, I hope you had a wongerful meet/visit with Kay/Kate!

Tami, I hope your nephew and his fiancee were safe and inside during the blizzard! Sounds like she's a smart girl to put the car in a garage and not leave it outside. There's the problem of the blizzard, but also the problem of snow plows packing much of the snow from the street up near parked cars!

Suzanne, sorry about the difficulty sleeping! I hope George is encouraged by your email to him! How nice to get back in touch with someone from high school! Is Aggery his first name?

Heidi, how nice of John Wayne to give you a lift in his 18-wheeler - at least in your dream! So glad that you didn't get snow or rain!

Heading to the next page now . . .

Hi, Heidi, Theresa, Brenda, Suzy, Gail, Tammy, Judy and Rolanda!

Theresa, sorry you weren't able to sleep well last night! Hoping for a better night soon!

Brenda, sounds like you and Kay had a wonderful visit! Hooray for Sudoku friends!

Gail, congratulations to Hannah on starting her final year of high school - and with freshly designed hair at that! You are much braver than I think I would be - or maybe my girls just weren't all that adventurous - or couldn't be because of their music studies. Do you have photos? BTW, sorry about all of the rain. Hopefully it won't lead to anything worse!

Theresa, so sorry your hubby went into the ditch - not due to careless driving but pulling over for an emergency vehicle. I hope there was no damage - to him or the car! How awful that he had to stand outside in the cold to wait for and flag down the tow truck! By now, I imagine he is home, has been fed and warmed up, and may well have retired for the night.

Suzy, I hope you are OK and taking care of yourself!

Heidi, I am SO sorry to hear about the loss of Cole! On the occasions when you told us about him, it was evident that he had a special place in your heart! What a shame for him to go like that, but hopefully it was quickly and without too much trauma or suffering. RIP Cole! {{{HUGS}}} to you, Heidi!

Theresa, hooray for the firemen who lifted your hubby's car out of the ditch! (I suppose their adrenalin was elevated from the fire call.)

Suzy, what a shame that the young man wasn't aware that he needed the generator to be vented. Hopefully the sirens were not an indication of a major fire or calamity and were just responding, as you assume, to a small fire started by a lightning strike.

Nearly midnight here, so I'm going to start shutting down. {{{{{HUGS}}}}} positive thoughts, mutters and prayers for everyone! Good Night!

Because "justin" was at the end of the link, I assumed it would have something to do with Justin Bieber. Here's what I found:

Malawi moves to ban farting
Posted 3 hours 16 minutes ago

Malawi's government has confirmed reports that it intends to outlaw breaking wind in public.

Perhaps that's what Suzy was referring to when she mentioned how classy and tasteful she is?
