I'm not over-weight according to the "ideal" height and weight charts. I am too short! Apparently, I should be 8 feet tall.

Still snowing here ... sigh. SonIL shovelled the snow before hubby got home, so I gave him (SonIL) some pie. Made him happy because he doesn't get home made dessert very often. Very proud of myself, I didn't have any pie. Mind you I can hear it calling my name, so I'm not sure if it will still be here in the morning or not.

Gekko to Everybody!
Hi, Heidi, Suzy, Gail, Broni, Theresa (page 535 after my last post)!
Broni, affected is the verb, so it means changing or being changed by something. Effect is the noun & means what has taken place. So the people of northeastern Queensland were affected by Yasi. The effect of all that rain and wind is some damage. However, the wonderful spirit of the people was NOT affected and they kept their wonderful sense of humor/humour and can-do attitude.
Theresa, I hope most of the snow was gone from the storm before it got to you! We even had thunder & lightning last night!

eaa, men in their 60's, 70's and 80's play lawn bowls.......the balls have got bigger!
I did bowl today and we lost 20-19. It was not as hot as predicted and there was cloud cover most of the time. If we had won we would have had to play again tomorrow.

Sorry everyone, had to be out this morning, but if you haven't heard, all is well with my sis, and with Susan, though she has posted on FB that they are now expecting major flooding! The river in her town is rising rapidly.
Sorry, will give more news later, am walking out the door again.

Now on page 536: Hi, Theresa, Tami, June, Broni, Gail, Suzanne, Heidi, Suzy and eaa!
June, what a good idea to get the air con on in the bedroom to cool things off a bit before you get there! What out for the mosquitos! Here the tend to be more of a problem around dawn, dusk and after. Hope the bowls in the heat was not too much of a problem!
Reading of initial reports from the area struck by Yasi is a bit of a relief. So far I haven't seen anything about loss of life. SO sorry that's Susan's brother's house lost part of its roof and all that was underneath it. That's certainly not good news, but so glad no one was injured there.
Unfortunately, lots of violence in Egypt! Wagdy's response to my post doesn't indicate if he's heard any more from his daughter. It's all very frightening!
Broni, I hope your day in the hot tin shed isn't too draining! Are you drinking enough fluids? I imagine you're exhausted when you get home!
Theresa, I hope your hubby got home safely! What a great idea to pack some extra for his lunch in case he was delayed by weather and slow-moving traffic! It's a good think your grandies had a snow day. Most of the schools in our area were closed today - and will be closed again tomorrow.
Suzanne, continued positive thoughts for your friend George! If he was harassed at work, shouldn't he have been able to file a lawsuit about that? Was that also a religious group involved? It certainly sounds like he's having a rough time! The good news is that his mom is doing well after her car accident!
Congratulations, Heidi, on more baby budgies! Certainly seems like the parent will need a rest. Do you have enough cage space for the new love birds coming in a few days?
Gail, Broni and Suzy, I'm glad you finally got some sleep! Between the heat and the worry, you must be exhausted!
Just realized I should give an update. Our snow total from this storm was about 21 inches (53.3 cm), which is the third highest recorded snowfall in Chicago's recorded history. We had wind gusts up to 70 miles per hour (112.6 kph) and snow drifts 40 inches and higher (101.6 cm). Our temperatures tonight are expected to go below zero F (about -20* C) with wind chills or "real-feel" of more than 20 degrees below zero F (-29* C).

Here we are on page 537! Quite an interesting TOPP, eaa! Drat! I was going to put in a smilie, but it tells me, "Service is unavailable."
Hi, eaa, Heidi, Tami, Theresa, June, Gail and Suzy!
June, perhaps there was some justice in not quite winning at bowls today. At least the score was close! Your comment about the balls used in bowls was quite the comeback for eaa's post.
Gail, so glad all is well with your sister and Susan. NOT good news that the river is rising and flooding is expected! Continued prayers for continued safety!
Suzy, an noun is the name for something; a verb is the action or what happens to the noun. (Does that help at all?)
Gonna run & check some emails for a bit. Hope to be back later, gators!

Good morning all.
Julie, my nephew lives in Chicago so I have been hearing first hand about the snow. He lives across the street from Lake Michigan. Luckily his fiance put the car in a garage instead of parking on the street.
Sending good thoughts to all the people down under. I hope the flooding does not get too bad especially after the recent flooding. Just what is needed, more water.
Brenda, enjoy your time with Kay/Kate. Hope you have a wonderful day.

Good Maen everyone! Rough nights sleep last night. Awoke with a sinus headache. Just got my 2nd cuppa coffee. (Thanks TTT). Sent an e-mail late last night to my friend George. Hoping everything is ok with him.
I got a suprise last night. I got an e-mail from a friend of the family that I haven't heard from in years!! His name is Aggery and my brother Chris & I knew him in New York. He sent photos. He has been sending e-mails to Chris & my mom, so it was a pleasant surprise to reconnect with him. Not much else going on here, have errands to run with Darrell. Will try to get online later. TTFN

I had a bizarre, yet pleasant, dream involving John Wayne last night. It's rapidly fading, so I wish I could remember details. All I remember is him giving me a lift in his truck (18 wheeler) and telling people that I was his friend.
