Good morning everyone!
Congrats on the TOPP Brenda...man, EVERYONE is getting snow but us! Grrrrrr!!! We will get some sunshine today, which is good for our solar panels!
Happy B'day to your son-in-law, Theresa - how did the cake baking go? Always fun with the grandkids involved.
Tami - glad to hear Bernie is doing OK, but bummed to hear about his smoking history. I quit almost 24 years ago and am grateful that I could. One of the hardest tasks I've ever had.

Broni - mixing up the Lees? HA! What else is new...can't count on anything from my mind these days!!!
BTW - the pictures are not on my personal page but submitted for puzzle pictures. That is why I was concerned about folks not wanting me to submit them if they were pictured.

It is snowing heavily right now. What a shock on my birthday! [[sarcasm]] When I was a child, most of my birthday parties were cancelled due to snow storms.

I need to get dressed, bundle up and go outside to feed hay to livestock. The weather is so bad right now that I don't think Robert will be able to get here to help work the calves.

IH just decided that the weather is too nasty to work the calves today. So that's it until next week. He's leaving on a trip to Wisconsin and Minnesota tomorrow morning ... his niece's wedding... and won't be back for 4 days. The guy buying the calves wants the weights as soon as possible, and I could really use the money. About $17,000.00.

Well at least IH is giving you some peace for your birthday but it would have been nice for him to give you a hand with the calves.

Heidi, hope Robert can get out to help you.
Vici, the cake baking went fine. My grandkids are so cute (not that I'm prejudiced or anything). They had decided to put the cake on the platter after it was cooled off, but they had it upside down. So it got decorated upside down. I'm sure it will still taste okay! I introduced them to licking the beaters and it was fun to see their little chocolate faces.
I have the grandkids after school every Wednesday for 2 and a half hours or so. I had a wee bit of a nap earlier just to get ready. They are such balls of energy that they just wear me down if I haven't had a nap. I'M NOT GETTING OLDER, I'M GETTING BETTER!

Just got back in from feeding hay. I had a nasty surprise when I went out. The weight of all that wet snow took out an ancient oak tree behind the horse barn. It took out 25 ft. of a 5 board fence and a 16 ft. gate. It won't be the end of the world if the horses and the bull get into the other pasture. Nobody else is in it right now, tho' the horses might be difficult to catch out there. It's a 30 acre pasture with woods and a creek.

Heidi, it never rains but it pours. Why do all these nasty things have to happen when you least need them to? As if the weather wasn't bad enough!

Have sort of given up on reading past pages that I missed because my poor little brain wasn't retaining a lot. CRAFT disease has set in yet again. So I'll start over again and hopefully be able to keep on top of news. A big hello to all.

Hubby has just forwarded an email to me from work. Rotary are conducted a fundraiser for Haiti - it's such a great idea. They put together what they call Shelter Boxes. They have 10 thermal blankets, a 10 person tent etc etc and cost about $1200 each. The big boss has challenged employees to see how many boxes the company can donate. Off to check our bank balance to see how much we can help....

Morning everyone.
Another warm humid day here today.
CynB. I am taking John to the hospital today at noon for his lung biopsy.
He will be there about 3 hours and I think I will wait as it will be cooler in the hospital than outside for sure.
I will take my crosswords to do and Sudoku.
John has already done all the crosswords of course.!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY HEIDI.

Viv, thoughts and wishes to John today. I hope the hospital is one of those ones that have a coffee shop. Our local casualty has a coffee stand now, complete with muffins etc.

Hi Suzy
Yes it does have a coffee shop, very nice it is too. I have been there many times.
He did not want to bother me to take him up etc. but he is not allowed to drive home.
He has a sister who lives in Wauchope but he hardly every hears from her and she does not visit him. He has been a chronic smoker since age 12 so we know this is not going to be a good result. All that aside he has become a very good friend of mine so it is no trouble for me to help him out.

Viv, I am glad that John has a friend like you. Sounds like John is going through a lot of what my father is. My dad started smoking at 11 and quit at 77 for a total of 66 years.

I just don't seem to have any spare time anymore. Teaching Amber takes up a lot of time. I have also started knitting again. I can't seem to type and knit at the same time. I need to find a way around that. I have been knitting socks. I love to make socks. I have made 7 pairs since the beginning of the year. Some of the patterns are very quick and easy. Two were more detailed and took longer.
Amber has been busy building a snow fort inside her trampoline frame. We just finished a geography project. The school she is registered with is having a geography fair on Friday. She chose to study Italy. Her great aunt lives in Italy.
We were going to have a Pathfinder winter camp in our cabin but we just don't have enough snow up here. The ground is half bare and muddy. It wouldn't be much of a winter camp. Maybe next year.

I also have an animal story.
On Monday, last week, Taus called me,he was working, to get his truck mileage so he could make an appointment for a service. He got a small B.C. Parks contract, two weeks of work felling, chipping brush and moving some of the wood. Anyway, I went out through the basement because the truck was parked down by that door outside the fence. Nobody told me the gate wasn't closing properly so I didn't check to make sure it was closed. Just before Christmas we installed a dog door.(Another story there) Sindy, being a curious dog, had to come out to see what I was doing and finding the gate open, well, out she ran and immediately headed down the driveway. Nuka, however, stayed in the yard. She is the good one. I hopped in the truck and followed her, hoping to lure her into the truck. She likes to go for rides. partway down the driveway, I spotted her and stopped, opened the door and called her. She ran the other way. Drove a little farther and tried again. She just ran the rest of the way to the road and headed down the road. I chased her in the truck about 1/4 kilometre, stopped and tried to get her in the truck again. Instead of coming to me, she ran up the hill where I couldn't get at her. At this spot on the road, it is pretty steep on both sides. I got back in and drove down the road to turn around to back home for Amber to help me. When I came back up the road there was Sindy coming toward me on the road. I stopped, hopped out and went around the back of the truck. She came right at me and I grabbed her and put her in the truck. I was very relieved that I finally had her in the truck. For those who don't know, Sindy is a 17 month old Husky and is not spayed. Huskies have a tendency to run in the opposite direction when they are called and they don't have a good homing instinct. This is not the first time she has run off, either.
