Ally hurt her ankle at TKD tonight - but was brave and kept going on it. Sigh. When I found out I told her that it is not wimpy to stop when you hurt your ankle - you could do more damage! :(
This small town is so slow to catch onto technology. A wonderful person locally may have died today and I can't find it on google! Anywhere else someone with her profile would be on the net within minutes... She OAM, organises just about every event of importance in town, etc etc..

Morning all,
Suzy, I know all about small towns. When someone passes in my home town it's posted at the post office. So sometimes we find out about it quite some time after the fact and it can be embarrassing. Hope Ally's ankle heals quickly.
Hi Gail, hope your life settles soon.
Went out for my SIL's birthday yesterday and had a really nice dinner ... just a small gathering of 10. Topped off with the homemade chocolate cake and it barely showed that it was upside down.
Heidi, hope you had some time to relax yesterday for your birthday.

Hi everyone.
Thank you all for your good wishes for John today.
I picked him up about noon and then I waited while he had the procedure done.
At 3.30 I took him home again.
In the meantime I sat in the lovely air-conditioned coffee shop and had lunch and a coffee and did all my crosswords.
He was a bit woozy but he has gone to bed early tonight so hope he gets some good sleep.
He goes to his specialist next Tuesday at 11.30am for the results.
TTT that is incredible your father gave up smoking at 77. Does he miss it?
Has his health suffered at all from it?
Hi Rena, nice to see a post from you.

Greetings sudokuland! Dropping in after reading only this page. this hand problem has been a bit of a bother, keeping me from the cmputer. Yesterday I saw the ortho doc again, he did a thrid set of X rays and found where the pain and swelling originated, in a thumb joint. Arthritis and some bone cyst caused by arth and bone suprs. did an injection straight into the joint, and OUCH! Heidi, like you have said about your injections to back, the ones that last and do good are the ones that hurt, he is telling me same thing. I am ashamed to admit I was a wimp, cried out and then almost passed out at this one! Usually I can relax and " go away" till a procedure is finished, but this one called me back, and I was very aware of every bit of it. He said we can try the injections once every 3 months, if they do not control the pain, then surgery. From what he said, it is up to me, when I decide I am not gonna put up with the pain any more. I need LOTS more information about this fore I commit to it. Cast for 6 weeks? Not my idea of fun!!
Hopefully hand will be better today, yesterday after injection was NOT FUN, but I did sleep last night.
I am off for my coffee and to get a start to my day. too much needs catching up on after being away most of day for therapy and doc appointments.
Happy birthday to Heidi, Viv, hope John's test results are good, nice you got a dose of cool while waiting. Theresa, that is a small town if you must go to post office to read the obituaries. Suzy, hope Ally's ankle is soon better. GAIL, hope to see you back on a more normal schedule come weekend. Hope it is all good things keping you busy. Julie, I seem to have missed more than a couple days, know what you mean about not catching up on back reading. good to see you here! Love your heart avatar! Gee, I never got mine changed, sigh. . .
Hugs to all.

Rena, I had a similar problem trying to catch Callie once when she got out as a puppy, not that I had to drive to try and catch her, once I turned round to go get help she started to follow me.
Knitting socks sounds fun. I have never tried knitting them though my mother used to knit them. I might have to look for a pattern as my daughter is always having to buy new ones to use in her hiking boots.

MizT. A really effective injection may take a few days to recover from, but you'll feel pretty good afterwards. I hope. Your hand problems sound horrible. You have my sympathy.

Good Morning friends!
Heidi - what a crumby b'day gift that was (your tree taking out the fence and gate) - sounds like the money you make from the beef will have to partially go to fix the damage.
MzT - so good to hear from you and to quote Heidi, "OUCH"! I hope the injections help so you don't have to go through the surgery and recovery process.

Suzy - Mike sent me an e-mail with that veil story...cracked me up! Sorry to hear about Ally's ankle. We think we are so invincible as young'uns!

Rena - what a joy to see your avatar and read your posts. When you mentioned you had an animal story and then pointed out the doggie door...I thought it was leading to some wild animal nesting in your basement! Glad you were able to wrangle Sindy before she got lost or hurt.
Gail - one day at a time, huh? Looking forward to when you can spend more time on your pooter.
Theresa - just loved the cake making story - I'm sure it tasted good upside down. And how fun that you taught the grandies about licking the beaters!

MizT, we do have a local newspaper (my SIL is the graphic artist for it), but it only comes out once a week, so sometimes the news is stale.
Rena, we haven't met, but sounds like you have a busy life. I like to knit too. I find it relaxing.
Hope everyone has a great day. Just found out my SIL has an emergency dental appointment so I will be looking after my youngest granddaughter for a while. Guess the gninaelc will have to wait. Aw shucks, how disappointing (NOT).

MizT, I am terrified of injections. My doctor has suggested cortisone shot for my pinkie finger, but I'm a wimp. I have gone for accupuncture in the past without a problem. Hope the injection works for you.

We have a local paper that comes out weekly as well. If someone passes away, we have to rely on the grapevine for timely news, or we can miss the visitation and funeral. Sometimes everyone assumes you've already heard about it, so nobody tells you until it's too late.

He FINALLY left. I normally take 7 1/2 hours to do that drive, but he makes frequent stops for breaks, so it takes him 10 hours. That'll get him up there around 8:30 pm. He hates driving after dark, and isn't good at it. I tried to tell him to leave at dawn so he'd get there before dark.... and to drive straight thru' so he gets there sooner, but he never listens to me.

Rena, what a surprise! It was great to see you again. Scary dog story...
Theresa, our small town isn't quite that small - yours sounds amazing! We have a local radio station, which I will turn on this morning to hopefully hear something. The worst part was that I had to tell a friend who considers this lady as like a second mother.

MizT, I hope the injection works. It sounds like it will though. Mum says the same thing as Heidi about the injection hurting.
I tried knitting socks once. I have a great pattern book for them. Unfortunately I knit too loosely and they turned out too saggy to wear!
Vici and Rolanda, the blood sucking place opens at 7.30am here. If you get there after 7 you are about 10th in line - behind all of the people who can't wait for their morning cuppa!!! I time my tests for days hubby can get the kids off to school so I can get their early.

I discovered last night that the owner of the TaeKwonDo group Ally goes to is in the Australian team. They are competing in Las Vegas at the moment and he got 3rd out of 40 in his division yesterday. I went to his facebook page to send him a congratulations message this morning and there is already a photo of him there standing next to the scoreboard! Do you think he's proud?

Greetings from Snowy Pa... Someone asked about how much snow we had when I was here talking about last week's storm...the 18 inches turned into 28.5 inches in my area, then we were socked with the second storm which dumped 5 inches, then rain, sleet, freezing rain and then more snow, for a total of 19 additional inches. This second storm was far worse than the first because of the mixture and it was accompanied by extreme cold and very high winds...We have already had more snow in the last 10 days than we normally have in a full winter, and winter still has a way to go....Life is pretty white right now, but I have plenty of food, and am warm, dry and have my pouter...the power has not been a problem thus far, and I hope it stays that way.
Jazz ate another sock and had to spend a night in the hospital, but no surgery was required this time. The good thing about it was that it happened before all of the snow started, so I didn't have to drive in it. Well, I've managed to read a lot of the comments, and read many sad things and some good and some funny comments...May those who have experienced the bad, ( I recall Roland and Suzy and Miz T.) take solace in the love of all of us on the site. May peace find you as needed...and may the joys continue to outweigh the challenges in all of our lives, but the continued support and prayers sustain us as we deal with our challenges. Nuff said for now...I'm off to conquer something or other...I'm not sure if I'll read, play games or watch TV...perhaps a little bit of all...so I'd best get started... Peace, love and hugs...Happy Valentine's Day to those who celebrate! Enjoy!

Not only was he still home, but he was having hysteria. You know... running around frantically looking for things, and bugging me every few minutes. Of course, all of his requests for me were unreasonable. Including washing more of his clothes that he hadn't added to the laundry pile. He thinks I can wash and dry clothes in 15 minutes.

Mamacita ... wow, that's a lot of snow. So far this year we have not had as much snow as other winters. Hope I haven't jinxed anything by saying that.
Heidi, you mean you didn't wiggle your nose and have everything ready for IH?
My youngest granddaughter left a little while ago and now I'm feeling the aches in my tailbone and low back. That's what I get for sitting on hardwood floors playing "pet store" with her. It was worth it though. Hope I'm still telling myself that tonight when I'm trying to sleep.

Mamacita, I was hoping that you weren't copping all of the bad weather :-( I'm glad that you have power, I have wondered how people are coping in the cold without power. Food you can cook on a camping stove, heat though is something else entirely - as Heidi showed us last year and MizT recently. Thank goodness Jaz is okay!
Heidi, good luck getting the fence fixed and animals contained. Robert is feeling lucky right now I can tell!

Thanks Suzy, I'll be okay. The tailbone is one of the areas where I have arthritis; I had a fall about 25 years ago and bruised that area. My doctor told me that arthritis tends to hit places that are weaker, so I guess that would do it.
Well, better start thinking about supper. Hubby said not to bother, he'll just grab something quick at home. I tend to cook one day a week and then freeze home made meals so that if I have a deadline supper can be quick.
Take care everyone, hope to be back later.

Robert is happy because he only works part time for me, but wants all the hours he can get. This job will take 2 days.
The critters are contained. The first thing we did was get a gate hung so they can't get out. When the tree fell, it knocked the gate off the hinges. The way it was laying, the horses and cattle were afraid to try to cross the fallen gate, especially since a hot wire had broken and was laying across the gate. The broken wire has already been fixed.

Good afternoon, SA9A!
Hi, Brenda, Theresa, Vibrant Vici, Suzanne, Heidi, Suzy, Tami the Troublemaker, Vivacious Viv, Brenda, Rolanda, Rena, Broni, Gail, MizTricia and Mamacita!
V Viv, sending all the best wishes and vibes for your friend John! Thank goodness he has you as a friend!
What a surprise to see Rena here! Welcome back, Rena! We miss you! Surely there must be SOME way to type and knit at the same time . . . can you do one of those things mentally to free your hands for the other - or knit with one hand and type with the other?
I'm glad you were able to corral the dog and get her back to safety!
Welcome back, MizTricia! We have been missing you!
And welcome back, Mamacita! We have missed you, as well!
Heidi, what a loss to have the tree come down - not to mention the fence and gate! They say, "When it rains, it pours." I guess in your case, "When it snows, it blizzards!"
Gail, I hope your life settles down so that we can see more of you here! Hope everything there is as it should be and all are healthy!
Suzy, how is Ally's ankle? Wouldn't it be nice if our children (and sometimes ourselves) knew enough to take a break when pain is present to prevent further injury?
Theresa, the birthday celebration for your SIL sounds nice! I'm glad everyone enjoyed the cake!
MizTricia, the injection to your hand/wrist doesn't sound like fun! I can imagine acknowledging it verbally! So glad you were able to get a good night's sleep! Sending along positive vibes for it to feel much better soon! We'll be thinking of you as you recover! It's an excellent plan to gather more information before deciding if surgery is the best course for you!
Mamacita, it's always a delight to read one of your comments. I wish I could help remove some of that snow! Fortunately, your first storm missed us, but the second dumped nearly as much snow here as it did in your neck of the woods! If Jazz MUST eat socks, at least the timing BEFORE the storm was good. I hope that's the last one! I'm glad you have sufficient food at home, as well as heat and electricity! Take care of yourself, dear!
Heidi, I think perhaps Robert isn't the only one happy now that IH has left! I know the two of you will be VERY busy, but I hope you enjoy the 4-days of peace and quiet!

Theresa, I hope you don't have too much residual pain from playing "pet store" on the floor. Enjoy dinner, and sleep well tonight!
Before my surgery, I could get down on the floor with grandies, but getting up was more of a challenge and I REALLY didn't like sitting on their little chairs. Since my knees were replaced, I have not yet been down on the floor, so I don't know what it will be like to sit down OR get up. I may find out next month sometime, as grandie #3 is due and we're likely to go for a visit.
Heidi, I know you and Robert will get a lot done, but don't work too hard!
