I think it was mid to late 50's before the ball point pen became affordable, and was allowed in public schools. I remember them being the "stick BIC". Being affordable was a priority in our family with four children in school. Heck, we would run out of new cartridges for the fountain pen, and refill those from a bottle of ink, really messy!

I have enjoyed all the grammar talk.

It had to be a little later than that, MizT. I remember using fountain pens, with cartridges, in the early 60's. We weren't allowed to use ball points in school.

IH is in a foul mood. He has a minor head cold, and he thinks it's the end of the world. He just went to see his Doctor. I wasn't being sympathetic enough for him, apparently. I told him to take some cold meds.

IH is back from the Doctor's. He has bronchitis (but not a bad case, in my opinion). Barely even coughing. But his GP is putting him on all sorts of meds, including antibiotics. He's like a child when sick..... actually, like a child on a school day morning.

Mariana! I missed you SO much!

KY is about as inbred a place as I've ever seen. Except for the few transplanted Yankees (like me), everybody is related to everybody around here.... on both sides of the family. Barefoot slack- jawed yokels are common around here, the results of generation after generation of moronic cousins interbreeding.

Mariana: Nice to meet you, I live in Tooele, where are you??? Your comments about Utah made me laugh, only living here for the last 5 years, not happy with lack of public transportation. I used to live in Southern California and was able to get around quite well (don't drive, long story)

Hi Mariana! It's great to see you.

I know what you mean about time... I'm not here, I'm cruising the internet trying to find out how to suspend a piece of cardboard in midair... for some reason I'm not finding anything on that.

Suzy, mono filament fishing line and cup hooks in the ceiling should get your cardboard suspended, with no visible means of support. If you need to, anchor it to the floor or a piece of furniture underneath it with more fishing line.

My friend Johnette has invited me to several shows at Westminister College in SLC (Salt Lake City) and this is the first time I'll be watching her perform there!! I've been to other performances, but our friend Janet (who went to high school with Johnette) is going to watch for the first time... The 3 of us have been friends since I moved here, but this will be the first time the 3 of us have done anything together!! Should be lots of fun!!

Heidi: FYI Utah's population is roughly two and a half million people. HOWEVER, there is a lot of open land here, which is nice, but sometimes feels very desolate.

Heidi, Julie, CynB and everyone else who caught my grammatical errors, I am usually very good at proofreading but was typing quickly and not paying attention. Grammatical and spelling errors bug me and I try to proofread but as you can tell, I am not perfect. As for the handwriting, I got an "F" in handwriting no matter what they tried. My penmanship has improved slightly over the years, but not much.
